FFXIV Summoner Best Build Guide Patch 7.55

If you came here for the FFXIV Summoner best build, here it is in one sentence: stack Critical Hit, ignore Spell Speed, hit your buttons in the right order, and stop asking your static why your parse looks like a coin flip. Summoner in patch 7.55 rotates between Demi-Bahamut, Demi-Phoenix, and three elemental primals (Ifrit, Titan, Garuda), and the job punishes hesitation more than it punishes bad gear.

The core loop is simple enough that a Chocobo could learn it: summon a primal, dump its attunement stacks, weave Energy Drain, repeat. Do this correctly and Summoner is one of the least movement-punished DPS jobs in the game. Do it wrong and you will simply do less damage while feeling busy, which is the job's cruelest trick.

Stat Priority

For Summoner stat priority, Weapon Damage and Main Stat come first automatically from your gear, so the real decision is your secondaries. Critical Hit is your best stat by a wide margin, then Direct Hit, then Determination, with Spell Speed dragging in dead last.

PriorityStatReason
1Critical HitScales both crit chance and crit damage, amplified by party buffs
2Direct HitRoughly equal to Determination, slightly ahead in most sets
3DeterminationFlat and reliable, no excitement, no letdown
4Spell SpeedAbout half your damage comes from oGCDs that ignore it entirely

Roughly half of Summoner's damage comes from oGCDs, which is why Spell Speed is such a weak investment for this job. Keep it as low as your gear allows, unless you enjoy melding materia for stats that barely move the needle.

Job Gauge

The Summoner job gauge is really two gauges wearing a trenchcoat. The Aetherflow Gauge fills with two stacks every time you cast Energy Drain, and those stacks are spent on Fester or its upgraded form, Necrotize. The Trance Gauge tracks your Aethercharge, Dreadwyrm Trance, and Demi-Bahamut or Demi-Phoenix summon timers, so you always know exactly how much time you have left before the fun stops.

Hold one set of Aetherflow stacks every other Energy Drain so you can line up four Necrotize casts under your Searing Light buff window. Miss this and your two-minute burst just quietly loses damage while you remain blissfully unaware.

Trait

The Summoner trait guide version of this is short. Aethercharge Mastery upgrades your Aethercharge into Dreadwyrm Trance, during which Ruin III becomes Astral Impulse and Outburst becomes Astral Flare. Enhanced Dreadwyrm Trance is the trait that finally lets you summon Bahamut, and later Solar Bahamut, at which point you stop being a summoner and start being a small war crime. Level 100 traits also bump the potency of nearly every core skill, so being under-leveled costs you more than a bad meld ever will.

BiS Materia Melds

For Summoner materia melds, the answer is boring and that is the point. Meld Critical Hit into every open slot you have, then Direct Hit, then Determination if nothing else fits. Do not meld Spell Speed onto pieces you plan to keep for a while, because you will simply be handicapping yourself for the privilege of feeling productive.

Determination

Gear itself is mostly Savage raid drops mixed with augmented tome pieces, and any two items sharing the same stat combination (crit and direct hit, or crit and determination) can be swapped freely as long as the item level clears your current sync.

Relic Weapon

The Summoner relic weapon in patch 7.55 is the final stage of the Phantom Weapon, tied to the new Occult Crescent North Horn zone. The upgrade path runs through Gerolt in Tuliyollal's Phantom Village and requires grinding Occult Crescent currency instead of raiding, so melee elitists finally have to touch exploration content too. This is the last relic stage of the Dawntrail expansion, arriving alongside patch 7.55 on July 28 2026, so treat any progress made before that date as a head start rather than a shortcut.

Opener

The current Summoner opener leads with Titan instead of Garuda, since Dawntrail's raid buff changes made the old Garuda-first line pointless. Follow this order and you will not need a novel-length parser thread to figure out why your first thirty seconds felt weak.

  • Open with Summon Carbuncle and pre-pull GCDs to land your first Ruin III as the pull timer hits zero.
  • Use Searing Light and Aethercharge as soon as they align with the party's raid buffs.
  • Summon Solar Bahamut first and burn through all of its available oGCDs before touching anything else.
  • Move into Summon Titan for the highest potency primal phase and consume every Earth attunement stack.
  • Continue into Ifrit and Garuda phases in either order depending on whatever movement the fight demands of you.

Rotation

The Summoner rotation guide after the opener is just the opener on repeat with a 120 second heartbeat. Every two minutes your Searing Light comes back, your Demi-primal comes back, and you get to feel powerful again for about twenty seconds before returning to pressing Ruin IV like a caffeinated woodpecker.

  1. Weave Energy Drain whenever it is available and never let it cap without a reason.
  2. Spend Aetherflow stacks on Fester or Necrotize before they go to waste sitting in your gauge.
  3. Cast Ruin IV before its proc window expires, since letting it fall off is a small, avoidable tragedy.
  4. Prioritize Titan phases around raid buff windows since it is the single strongest primal phase available.
  5. Minimize Ruin III casts outside of Dreadwyrm Trance, since it is filler dressed up as a real spell.

None of this is difficult, which is precisely why there is no excuse for getting it wrong. Consider this your complete Summoner PvE guide for patch 7.55: mash the right buttons in the right order, meld Critical Hit like your life depends on it, and stop blaming your healer for your own missed Necrotize windows.

What is the best stat priority for Summoner in patch 7.55?

Critical Hit leads, followed by Direct Hit and Determination, with Spell Speed kept minimal since half your damage ignores it entirely.

What food and consumables should Summoner use?

Caramel Popcorn or Popoto Potage for Critical Hit gains, paired with HQ potions during burst windows for maximum parse-inflating satisfaction.

Which primal should Summoner open with in patch 7.55?

Titan first, since Titan phase hits hardest and the Garuda opener stopped being optimal once Dawntrail rewrote the raid buff timeline.

How does the Aetherflow gauge work for Summoner?

Energy Drain grants two Aetherflow stacks, spent on Fester or Necrotize, and should be held every other cast to align Searing Light buffs.

What relic weapon is Summoner getting in patch 7.55?

The final Phantom Weapon upgrade, tied to Occult Crescent North Horn, arrives July 28 2026 as the last relic stage of Dawntrail.
