Dancer 7.55 guide is live: opener, rotation, BIS, stat priority, materia, job gauge, trait and the final Phantom relic weapon stage.

This FFXIV Dancer guide covers everything that actually matters for Patch 7.55: rotation, BIS, materia, stat priority, job gauge, trait, opener and the new relic. Dancer is a physically ranged DPS with the lowest personal damage of the three ranged jobs, compensated by massive single target buffs through Devilment and Standard Finish. If you wanted a job that carries itself alone, you picked wrong.
Cascade combos into Fountain, each with a fifty percent chance to proc Reverse Cascade or Fountainfall. Never let these procs sit unused for more than thirty seconds, they expire and take your damage with them. Standard Step, Technical Step, Devilment and Flourish anchor the two minute cycle and are not optional extras, they are the entire point of the job.
Dancer rewards nothing but discipline. Miss a Technical Step alignment and you didn't just lose damage, you dragged your entire party's burst window down with you. There is no partial credit here.
A clean Dancer opener separates a competent player from someone who should switch to Bard. Prep Standard Step before the pull and land Standard Finish exactly as the tank engages. Immediately chain into Technical Step, then Technical Finish weaving Devilment underneath it. Follow with Tillana, Flourish, Dance of the Dawn, and Fan Dance III on cooldown. After that, Saber Dance takes priority over any leftover proc, and procs always beat plain Cascade or Fountain fillers.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Standard Step (pre-pull) |
| 2 | Standard Finish on engage |
| 3 | Technical Step, all four steps |
| 4 | Technical Finish, weave Devilment |
| 5 | Tillana, weave Flourish |
| 6 | Dance of the Dawn, weave Fan Dance III |
| 7 | Saber Dance, then procs, then fillers |
The Dancer job gauge runs on two resources, Esprit and Fourfold Feathers. Esprit builds from GCDs and from your Dance Partner's healing and caps at one hundred, spent on Saber Dance or generated in bulk during Technical Finish. Fourfold Feathers caps at four stacks and fuels your Fan Dance line. Overcapping either resource is a silent damage loss nobody will warn you about mid fight, so watch your own numbers instead of waiting for a sign.
Level 100 Dancer trait upgrades include Enhanced Technical Finish, granting Dance of the Dawn Ready, Enhanced Standard Finish granting Last Dance, Enhanced Flourish granting Finishing Move, and Enhanced Devilment granting Flourishing Starfall. Enhanced Shield Samba also raises mitigation to fifteen percent, giving ranged DPS an actual defensive cooldown for once. Use it, your healers are not your personal shield.
Dancer stat priority in 7.55 puts weapon damage first, followed by Critical Hit as the dominant scaling stat since it grows quadratically. Determination and Direct Hit trade off dynamically after that. Skill Speed sits at the bottom and only earns a slot when it hits a specific GCD threshold, otherwise it is wasted substat space.
Priority | Stat |
|---|---|
1 | Weapon Damage |
2 | Critical Hit |
3 | Determination / Direct Hit |
4 | Skill Speed (threshold only) |
Dancer materia melds follow the same logic as stat priority: stack Critical Hit materia first, fill remaining slots with Direct Hit or Determination depending on tier breakpoints. Skill Speed materia is a trap unless you are chasing an exact GCD line, and guessing wrong wastes an entire meld slot. Run the numbers through a gear planner instead of trusting your gut.
Current Dancer BIS 7.55 gear draws from Arcadion Savage and Dancing Mad, with weapon choice ranked Phantom relic above savage weapon above FRU weapon once fully upgraded. Patch 7.51 gear is largely unchanged from 7.4, meaning your grind from last tier was not wasted, a rare mercy from the developers.
The Phantom relic weapon reaches its final stage in Patch 7.55, closing out the Dawntrail relic line that began with Occult Crescent content in 7.2. This is the last major weapon upgrade of the expansion, so finish it now or carry a worse weapon into the next expansion's opening months. Unlike Endwalker's tome dump, this line demanded actual content participation, so there is no shortcut left to find.
Putting together a full Dawntrail Dancer build means combining all of the above correctly, not cherry picking the parts that sound fun. Dancer punishes half measures more than most jobs because your buffs are shared, so your mistakes are too.

Critical Hit first, then Determination and Direct Hit, Skill Speed only for specific GCD thresholds.
Weave Devilment immediately after Technical Finish during the opener, not before Technical Step starts.
Esprit, capped at one hundred, and Fourfold Feathers, capped at four stacks for Fan Dance.
Yes, once fully upgraded the Phantom relic ranks above the current savage weapon in BIS lists.
Only if it hits an exact GCD threshold, otherwise it wastes materia slots better spent on Critical Hit.
