Patch 7.55 lands on July 28, 2026 and delivers the final stage of the Dawntrail relic weapons, called Phantom Obscurum. This step also closes the Dawntrail Hildibrand questline, finishes the Allied Society capstone, and opens Occult Crescent: North Horn. The Phantom Obscurum stage requires crafting a Sack of Umbral Clay using roughly 500,000 gil plus three aspected materials, then collecting 1,200 Crystal Paste in stages of 100, 200, 300, and 600. There is no daily cap on Crystal Paste, so hoarding is possible, and A Rank Hunt Trains remain the fastest way to farm both the paste and your sanity simultaneously. Once every phase is cleared, players finish the relic by spending 1500 Allagan Tomestones of Mathematics, because apparently math is the currency of enlightenment now.

• FATE farming in Tuliyollal doubles as relic progress, job leveling, and bicolor gemstone income, so stop treating it as a separate chore.
• Roulettes and tomestones remain the backbone of the early relic steps, exactly like every relic grind since A Realm Reborn.
• Occult Crescent South Horn progress carries into North Horn, so arriving at zero progress on patch day is a self-inflicted wound.
• Market board prices for new North Horn items will spike hard on release, so farming it yourself beats buying into the panic.

The Warden Tank Rumor

Leaks describe an upcoming tank job called Warden that fights with large blunt weapons such as a flail, hammer, or morning star. No bladed weapon, for once, which is apparently a revolutionary concept in a game that already has a sword, an axe, a gunblade, and a great sword. Treat this as a rumor until Square Enix says otherwise, because leaks age about as well as milk.

Who Is This Even For

These weapons are not catch up gear for new players, they are not raider necessities since clearing content does not require them, and they mostly exist for glamour collectors with too much free time. That is fine. Somebody has to justify the Occult Crescent North Horn grind existing at all, and it might as well be the people who dye their hotbars to match their weapon glow.

The realistic path through FFXIV endgame gear this patch is simple. Do the Phantom Village quests, farm Crystal Paste through hunt trains and FATEs, dump your tomestones, and stop expecting a shortcut, because the developers clearly did not build one.
