The Smith of Kitava build for PoE 2 patch 0.5 kills by walking. Fire Bear, Ancestral Cry, 0 buttons required.
The PoE 2 Smith of Kitava best build in patch 0.5 is a fire-breathing bear that kills by taking a leisurely stroll. You shapeshift into bear form, activate two buffs, and the game murders itself. Technically zero buttons after setup. Theoretically: GGG may have broken a trigger interaction in 0.5, so check the changelog before investing into this monstrosity.
The core loop: Ancestral Cry steps create slam slams, Fire Spell on Hit fires Living Bomb, Cast on Elemental Ailment detonates Comet (fire-converted via Avatar of Fire). Endurance charges fuel 9% HP recovery per step via Primal Hunger + Jagged Ground I. You walk. Things die. You regenerate. Path of Exile 2 Smith of Kitava build fantasies don't get more degenerate.
0.5 Alert: GGG "fixed a bug where certain triggered skills could generate energy." If steps no longer proc Fire Spell on Hit and Cast on Elemental Ailment, switch to pure melee damage. The bear survives. The laziness might not.

How It Works
Glory is the build's entire infrastructure. Ancestral Cry needs 100 glory to activate and gains it by igniting monsters. Higher rarity enemies generate more. Fury of the King generates glory passively: even off-screen: and combined with 100% increased glory gain from Smith's Masterwork (Kitavan Imprint) and Invigorating Grandeur, you're looking at 10 glory per 2 seconds per skill. The catch: skills can't gain glory while active, so downtime exists. You manage it by extending duration with Endurance charges: each charge grants 70% increased Ancestral Cry duration. Seven charges = over 2 minutes uptime. That's not a buff. That's a lifestyle.
Bear form passively generates 1 Endurance charge per 15 rage spent. Walking Calamity summons meteors via Rageforged I, each consuming 10 rage, while also generating 5 rage per second. Primal Hunger keystone returns all consumed rage over 4 seconds, creating a perpetual loop. The result: endless Endurance charges, endless slams, endless 9% life recovery on every single step via Jagged Ground I + passives Guts and Flare.
For bosses, Smith of Kitava Fire build users swap to set 2 and manually cast Forge Hammer fissures. These, combined with Fury of the King's innate Molten Crash, get triggered by Ancestral Cry steps: which then re-proc both Fire Spell on Hit and Cast on Elemental Ailment. Savage Fury, Ancestral Warrior Totem (armour break), and Infernal Cry round it out for single-target. Truly disgusting.
The PoE 2 bear shapeshift build scales cleanly through six stages. Don't skip straight to Uber and wonder why you're dead.
Clear vs Single-Target Swap
Replace Living Bomb (Overabundance II + Fire Mastery) with Detonate Dead (Magnified Area II + Spell Cascade) for substantially better map clear. You lose meaningful single-target damage. Choose accordingly and stop complaining about both.
The Smith of Kitava endgame gear list is not a suggestion: it's a checklist. Deviate intelligently or suffer predictably.

Why You Need It |
|
Fury of the King |
Passive glory generation. Form. The whole point of Uber variant. Get 5 Glory per 2 sec. |
|
Undying Hate (amanamu) |
Converts Vaal Pact to Sacrifice of Flesh. The tribute number is irrelevant: only "amanamu" matters. |
|
Goregirdle |
Corrupt with dex implicit for Charge Regulation. Alternatively +1 Endurance charge. |
|
Conjurer Mantle |
Needs enough spirit implicit for 160 total. 4 sockets requires exceptional base + corruption. |
Ruby jewels: desecrated prefix for 10% increased max Energy Shield. Sapphire jewels: desecrated 4–7% fire penetration. Socketing Guatelitzi's Soul Core of Endurance and 2x Soul Core of Azcapa in Fury of the King keeps spirit high.
Alternatives worth considering: Headhunter for mapping (obviously), Defiance of Destiny if you want recovery over damage, Guatelitzi's Thesis + Farrul's Rune of the Chase for the ultra-fast degenerate speedrun version.
Support Gem requirements for the full PoE 2 Warrior build 0.5 setup: 120 Strength, 20 Dexterity, 40 Intelligence. Get the stats before complaining the gems don't work.
Core trigger: socketed inside Ferocious Roar
Every step causes a slam, consuming an Endurance charge. Activate on both weapon sets or it drops on swap. Needs 100 glory + 6 Endurance charges before use.
Walking Calamity
Rage / Endurance engine
Generates rage, sustains Endurance charges. Socket Rageforged I to consume rage on meteor hits. Full heal when combined with Invigorating Grandeur. Quality priority: high.
Fire Spell on Hit payload
Socketed in Fire Spell on Hit. Overabundance II + Fire Mastery supports. Can be replaced with Detonate Dead for better clear at the cost of single-target.
Cast on Elemental Ailment payload
Fire-converted via Avatar of Fire. Damage reduced ~30% in 0.5 patch: still fine. Spell Cascade support replaces Execute II. Expect visual chaos on bosses.
Boss damage multiplier: Set 2 only
Active only on set 2 so you don't pay its 30 spirit cost during mapping. Functions normally in set 1 regardless.
Armour breaker: pre-boss
Place before boss spawns. Requires 3 Endurance charges. The Molten One's Gift grants armour break, making bosses considerably less durable. Needs 3 Endurance charges active.
Spirit management
Only add once you have 57 dex and 160 total spirit. Not before. The build is specific about this for a reason.
Boss damage amplifier
Used alongside Ancestral Warrior Totem for boss encounters. Pair with fissures from Forge Hammer (set 2) and Molten Crash for maximum single-target.
Corrupt Living Bomb and Comet at low level for +1. Then upgrade to 20 using another skill gem to reach 21. Level only in the normal skill bar: not inside Fire Spell on Hit or Cast on Elemental Ailment. Quality priority: Ancestral Cry first, Walking Calamity second, everything else at your leisure.
The Path of Exile 2 Ancestral Cry build passive structure is split across main tree and two weapon sets. Weapon set points require normal passive points first: you need 24 normal points before you can assign 24 per weapon set. This confuses a statistically significant number of players.

Death Warning: Take One With Flame before Self Immolation or your own ignite will kill you. Not metaphorically.
Travel points go primarily into Strength, with enough Intelligence for high-level Living Bomb and Comet. Only take Vaal Pact once you have Undying Hate (amanamu) equipped: the keystone is dangerous without the conversion.
The PoE 2 Smith of Kitava guide for leveling is mercifully straightforward until Act 4+. Push Strength. Cap resistances by whatever means available. Don't neglect Intelligence: you'll need it for gem requirements later.

Before level 52, treat this like any Warrior leveling build. The identity kicks in once you access bear form and begin assembling the Ancestral Cry + glory generation loop. Rushing Uber Endgame gear to Cruel mode is how you learn expensive lessons.
0.5: Return of the Ancients (22–23 May 2026)
The Smith of Kitava Living Bomb interaction remains intact in most testing. The energy generation bug fix is the one to watch. Until confirmed, the build operates as designed.

The Smith of Kitava build for PoE 2 patch 0.5 kills by walking. Fire Bear, Ancestral Cry, 0 buttons required.

You need normal passive points before splitting them. Assign 24 normal points first, then weapon set points become accessible.
Put Ancestral Cry on your keybind skill bar. The glory bar is visible there. Alternatively rebind Ferocious Roar to bar 2 and use Ancestral Cry as its placeholder icon.
It must be selected on both weapon sets, not just set 1. Rookie mistake. Don't be a rookie.
Yes. Known bug. Quickly unsocket Ancestral Cry from Ferocious Roar and re-socket it. Fixed immediately.
You took Self Immolation before One With Flame. Read the passive tree section. Take One With Flame first, always, without exception.
