The PoE 2 Ritualist best build abuses Mind Phylacteries to generate infinite Frenzy Charges no other ascendancy can sustain. Glacial Lance has never b

The PoE 2 Ritualist best build in Patch 0.4 does one thing with disturbing efficiency: it freezes your entire screen using an endlessly empowered Glacial Lance, funded by a Frenzy Charge loop that never, ever stops. Budget to build. Painful to face. The kind of build that makes you wonder why you play anything else.
Patch 0.4 buffed Glacial Lance directly. The Ritualist ascendancy was already sitting on the exact mechanic needed to abuse it. The result is a Path of Exile 2 Huntress best build that feels more like a cheat code than a character.
Core identity: Cast Glacial Lance. Consume Frenzy Charge. Fragments explode. Screen dies. Repeat. You do not stop. The build does not let you stop.

The loop runs itself. Gear optimization takes effort. |
Every other ascendancy will eventually run out of charm charges during single-target encounters. You will stand in front of a boss, chargesless, and die politely. The Ritualist's Mind Phylacteries node removes this problem entirely: it consumes 25% of your maximum mana to trigger charms when they have no charges left.
This is the keystone that makes the Ritualist ascendancy guide relevant at all. Without it, the Frenzy loop collapses. With it, the loop is infinite. No other ascendancy has this. No other ascendancy can copy this build.
The Ritualist is also the only Huntress ascendancy actively dominating the Endgame Leaderboard in 0.4: while Amazon players are still figuring out what happened to their Lightning Spear.
Additionally, the Ritualist's Wildwood Persistence node amplifies life recovery proportional to missing HP: making deliberate self-damage from Scold's Bridle not just survivable, but mechanically advantageous. You take damage to gain charges. You recover faster because you took damage. The ascendancy is designed for exactly this sadism.

This is the entire engine. Four items. One ascendancy node. Infinite charges. Understanding it takes 90 seconds. Explaining why it's only possible on Ritualist takes longer.

Trigger / Action |
Reaction / Outcome |

Cast Glacial Lance |
Any skill triggers Scold's Bridle. |
|
Scold's Bridle |
Deals Physical Damage to you. |
|
Lightning Coil |
Converts Physical Damage taken to Lightning (Without this, the loop doesn't exist). |
|
Valako's Roar |
Triggers on Lightning Damage taken $\rightarrow$ grants Frenzy Charge. |
|
Bijouborne |
Reduces charm duration $\rightarrow$ faster cycling. |
|
Mind Phylacteries |
Charms fire on mana when out of charges. |
|
Glacial Lance |
Is always empowered. Always. |
The PoE 2 Frenzy Charge build is elegant precisely because it exploits a self-damage mechanic that every other build actively avoids. Scold's Bridle is normally a trap. Here, it is the engine.

Three uniques are mandatory. Everything else is recommended. The core items are inexpensive. Spend your currency on the passive tree and gem quality, not on the gear that makes this build run.

Mechanics & Role in the Loop |
|
Scold's Bridle |
Helmet |
The Trigger: Deals Physical Damage to you whenever you use a skill. This self-harm is the mechanical catalyst that kicks off the entire engine. |
|
Lightning Coil |
Body Armour |
The Enabler: Converts incoming Physical Damage taken into Lightning Damage. Without this conversion, the damage type doesn't match the payoff conditions, and the loop completely fails. |
|
Bijouborne |
Unique Accessory |
The Accelerator: Reduces charm duration. By forcing faster charm cycling, it massively accelerates your generation of Frenzy Charges per second. |
|
Valako's Roar |
Unique Charm |
The Payoff: Grants a Frenzy Charge specifically when you take Lightning Damage. This reaps the rewards sown by the rest of the setup. |

The Scold's Bridle Lightning Coil build interaction is older than most PoE players realize: it's been a theoretical framework since PoE 1. GGG gave Ritualist the one node that makes it sustainable in PoE 2.
Ritualist has six notable ascendancy nodes. You need four of them. Pick in this order:
|
Node |
Effect |
Priority |
|
Mind Phylacteries |
Spend 25% max Mana to trigger charms with no charges |
1st: this is the build |
|
Intricate Sigils |
+1 Charm Slot, 20% more Charm Charges gained |
2nd: more slots, more uptime |
|
Unfurled Finger |
+1 Ring Slot (sacrifice a minor stat) |
3rd: big power spike |
|
Mystic Attunement |
25% increased bonuses from Rings and Amulets |
4th: scales the ring slot investment |
|
Wildwood Persistence |
Life recovery scales with missing HP |
Optional: strong for survivability |
|
As the Whispers Ask |
Ritual Sacrifice: steal a random rare monster modifier |
Optional: fun, inconsistent |
Corrupted Lifeforce and Blood Boil are irrelevant to this build. Don't take them thinking they'll improve anything. They won't.

Glacial Lance requires Character Level 22 and a Level 7 Uncut Skill Gem to unlock. It also requires a spear equipped. Glacial Lance Ritualist synergy begins the moment you hit that level threshold: not before. Don't try to run the build before you can cast the skill.
Support gem stat requirements at base: Str 10, Dex 15, Int 10. Easy to meet.
The tree serves three masters: cold damage, critical strike, and enough life to survive your own helmet. Route accordingly.
Passive tree total allocation runs 106 points in the main tree with 20 additional points in each of two alternate configurations. The build has documented flexibility in the late passive nodes: the early routing toward Cold Damage and Life is non-negotiable.
The PoE 2 endgame build passive tree respec happens naturally as you transition from Act content to Maps. Budget 5–8 respec points around Act 4 to realign crit nodes that were skipped for leveling efficiency.
The base build works. These variants are for players who have cleared the core content and want different problems to solve.

Variant |
Change |
Trade-off |
|
High-Crit Endgame |
Replace survivability nodes with crit nodes. Augment with high-tier cold crit spear. |
Glass cannon. One-shots maps. Dies to reflect. |
|
Wildwood Persistence Tank |
Take Wildwood Persistence ascendancy node. Stack max life. |
Survives everything. Slower boss kills. Suitable for league SSF. |
|
Triple Ring |
Prioritize Unfurled Finger + Mystic Attunement early. Use three damage rings. |
Requires more currency. Massive damage ceiling. Less Charm flexibility. |
Glacial Lance is locked behind Level 22 and a Level 7 Uncut Skill Gem. Before that, you are playing a different build. Accept this.
Quest Rewards to note: Valley of the Titans (Act 2) and The Venom Crypts (Act 3) both offer passive point choices relevant to the cold/crit pathing. Don't skip them.
The Path of Exile 2 freeze build identity fully activates at Map tier. Before that, you are farming the pieces. After that, you are the problem.

No. Mind Phylacteries is Ritualist-exclusive. Every other ascendancy runs out of charm charges and breaks the loop.
Three cheap uniques cover the core. Significant investment only required for endgame optimization and triple-ring setup.
It's RNG-dependent, not weak. Charge rhythm varies per boss. It kills everything; it just isn't always pretty.
It does consistent self-damage. Wildwood Persistence and life investment offset it cleanly with proper gear.
