Palworld 1.0 Beginner Guide: Survive, Build, Dominate

You bought a game where cute creatures get punched into submission and then forced into unpaid labor. This Palworld 1.0 beginner guide skips the fluff. No lore, no hand-holding, just what keeps you breathing: controls, stats, pals, and a base that survives your incompetence.

Move Before Something Eats You

Learn the controls before the island teaches them to you the hard way. Attack, dodge, sprint, crouch: memorize them or become fertilizer. Watch your stamina bar; it empties faster than your patience, and an empty bar means you stand there like an idiot while something with claws disagrees with your life choices. Sprint while crouching downhill and you slide, which is objectively the only fun mechanic in the tutorial zone, so use it to grab every Pal Sphere in sight.

Stat Points: Stop Dumping Them Into Nonsense

Every level hands you stat points. Spend them like a functioning adult, not like someone who read a wiki once. Early Palworld stat points go toward staying mobile, not toward Health, because you die from bad decisions, not from low HP.

Stat

Priority

Why

Stamina

First

Lets you swing, dodge, and sprint before collapsing like a soggy sandwich

Weight

Second

More carry capacity, fewer emergency loot dumps mid-fight

Work Speed

Mid-game

Matters once your base is doing actual work

Health

Later

Nice to have, rarely the reason you're respawning

Catching Pals Without Losing Your Mind

Weaken a pal, throw a sphere, pray. That's the entire loop of catching pals in Palworld, dressed up with percentages so it feels scientific. Cattiva is priority target number one: each one adds fifty carry weight, it stacks, and it does crafting chores while you're off punching wildlife. Grab several. Your back will thank you, metaphorically, since you don't have one anymore.

Repeatedly catching the same species early triggers the New Pal Bonus: the first twelve captures of one type hand out extra experience, then the bonus dries up and you move to the next species. The game even shows your capture count when you aim, so use it instead of guessing like a caveman.

Palworld Base Building 101

Pick flat ground near trees, rocks, and water. Palworld base building is not complicated: proximity equals automation, and automation equals you doing less punching. Drop the Palbox, unlock the basics, and stop building on a slope like a masochist.

Assigning pals to jobs depends on Palworld work suitability, which determines whether a pal chops wood, mines stone, or just stands there looking decorative.

Job

What It Does

Lumbering

Chops trees automatically so you don't have to swing an axe like a peasant

Mining

Breaks rocks into stone and ore while you do literally anything else

Transporting

Moves harvested materials into chests instead of leaving them scattered like litter

Handiwork

Speeds up crafting at workbenches

Planting / Watering

Keeps a farm plot alive so you don't starve to death ironically

Storage: Because Chaos Is Not a Strategy

  • Place chests near your gathering spots so transporting pals don't waste a full day walking.
  • Set chest filters so wood doesn't end up next to random junk you'll never use.
  • Press the auto-store key when you're overloaded instead of manually sorting like it's 1997.

Rushing Level 10 Without Losing the Will to Live

Follow the early quest chain, fast-travel to the settlement, and buy every Pal Sphere the merchant will sell you. A pile of gold from opened chests covers it, and the resulting sphere-buying spree turns you into a catching machine. This is the fastest early leveling loop the game offers: base building can wait, spheres cannot.

Get a Mount Before Your Legs Give Out

Walking everywhere is for people who enjoy suffering. A Palworld flying mount solves that permanently.

Pal

Unlock Level

Why Bother

Celaray

7

Improves glider performance, found near water

Nitewing

15

Earliest real flying mount, also hovers over water

Eikthyrdeer

12

Faster ground movement with a dash and double jump

Combat: Or How Not to Get One-Shot

  1. Let your pal engage first; it has more HP to waste than you do.
  2. Dodge instead of standing still like a statue with regrets.
  3. Recall and re-summon pals quickly instead of babysitting a losing fight.
  4. Avoid aggroing groups unless dying repeatedly is your idea of a good time.

Technology Tree: Spend Wisely, Not Emotionally

The Palworld technology tree gates almost everything worth having: better tools, shields, cloth gear, and base upgrades. Unlock the feed box and pal beds early so your workforce doesn't starve and quit on you mid-shift.

Mistakes That Will Ruin Your Day

  • Building your first base on a slope, then wondering why everything looks janky.
  • Forgetting to feed your pals, then acting surprised when productivity collapses.
  • Running out of Pal Spheres mid-exploration, the single dumbest way to miss a catch.
  • Fighting anything clearly stronger just to prove a point to nobody.

Master these basics and the rest of the game stops looking terrifying. Every list here doubles as general Palworld tips and tricks that scale into the mid-game, so treat this as your foundation, not your ceiling.
