The Machine of War event launched with Black Ops 7 Season 5 on July 23, and its entire pitch is simple: kill things, collect Fuel Cans, trade them for a machine gun that looks like it ate a smaller machine gun. The headline prize is the Mammoth LMG, a twin barreled light machine gun with a 50 round magazine, and it is not sitting in the Battle Pass waiting for you like a polite gift. You earn it. Grind it. Suffer for it. That is the whole genre of "content" now.

This is a collection based event, meaning there is no map, no boss, no lore drop worth reading twice. You play any mode, in BO7 or in Warzone Season 5, and Fuel Cans accumulate from eliminations, loot caches, and objective completions. Activision has not published the exact drop rates or the total Fuel Can cost of the Mammoth, so treat every "fastest method" video you find as an educated guess dressed up as gospel.

Nobody has confirmed the exact Fuel Can requirement for the Mammoth, so budget more time than you want to. The event is limited time, and limited time events have never once cared about your schedule.

If camo grinding already drains your will to live, the timing of this event stacks brutally with everything else in Season 05 Battle Pass content, weekly challenges, and the Treyarch anniversary tasks. You are not doing one grind. You are doing four, wearing one event's skin.

Treat the whole thing as a background task. Play your normal Multiplayer, Zombies, Endgame, or Warzone Season 5 sessions, let Fuel Cans pile up naturally, and stop checking your progress every ten minutes like it owes you an explanation. It doesn't. It's a machine. It doesn't care.
