Black Ops 7 Season 5 Patch Notes: Full Breakdown

Black Ops 7 Season 5 patch notes went live on July 23, 2026, and Treyarch decided the fastest way to ruin your favorite loadout was to nerf it into the ground while pretending it's a "balance pass." The season brings a new Multiplayer map called Jubilee, a Zombies Survival map called Eidskallen Lighthouse, a fresh Endgame race mode called Burn Run, and a weapon tuning pass that guts the AN-94 and Swordfish A1. If you were enjoying either gun, condolences, your fun has been scheduled for termination.

Call of Duty Boost

Release Date and Basics

The Black Ops 7 Season 5 release date is Thursday, July 23, 2026, dropping at 9am PT, 12pm ET, and 5pm BST, which means someone at Activision decided your lunch break belonged to them. Multiplayer, Zombies, and Endgame all get content in the same breath, so nobody in the studio has to admit which mode is actually dying.

New and Returning Maps

  • Jubilee is a 6v6 map set in a rural Japanese town where a festival collapses into gunfire, because nothing says "cultural celebration" like a pachinko room turned kill zone.
  • Frequency returns remastered from Black Ops 4, dragging Operators back into the mountains of Hunan to fight over a listening station nobody asked to revisit.
  • Dig comes back from Black Ops 2 with Black Ops 7's movement tech bolted on, so the same archaeological pit now has more ways to get you shot from angles you didn't know existed.

New Modes

Overdrive Domination launches at season start, bolting objective play onto the high speed Overdrive format, while Gauntlet Rush arrives in season and swaps modes every two minutes so nobody gets comfortable. Both exist to keep you playing longer than you intended, which is the entire business model.

Weapon Tuning: this update addresses a handful of bugs and several hot ticket balance items, with adjustments to the AN-94 and Swordfish A1 plus a partial rework of the DS20 Mirage Dual Fire Kit. Translation: whatever you were winning with last week is now worse, on purpose.

Weapon Tuning: Who Got Hit and Who Got Fed

The AN-94 nerf was inevitable since the weapon's hyperburst outclassed every other Assault Rifle's time to kill and usage numbers went vertical. Its Voyak KT-3 attachment lost damage at max range, dropping from 30 to 24, though the range window itself got stretched from 24.1m out to 36.8m, so it trades raw stopping power for reach. Meanwhile the Swordfish A1 nerf targets the Penta Burst Mod specifically, since almost everyone abusing the gun was running that attachment, and its recoil goes up while its burst delay reduction shrinks from 20 percent to 10 percent.

WeaponChangeEffect
AN-94 (Voyak KT-3)Max damage cut from 30 to 24, range extended to 36.8mLoses the 4 shot kill at close range
Swordfish A1Burst Fire Delay up from 280ms to 300msSlower base fire rate
MFS Penta Burst ModRecoil increased, delay reduction cut to 10 percentMuch harder to control on the meta build
DS20 MirageMax damage up from 27 to 28, Dual Fire Kit shares ammo poolStraight buff, especially aggressive builds
M8A1Neck multiplier added at 1.15x, barrel attachment gets 1.5xSlightly better headshot potential
Carbon 57Fabricator Mag now delays refill by one second after firingPunishes spray and pray aggression

The DS20 Mirage buff is the rare case of Treyarch actually rewarding a gun instead of dragging it into a back alley. Both fire modes now share one ammo pool, attachments finally affect the alternate fire mode, and the Dual Fire Kit improves movement speed instead of punishing you for using it. If you gave up on this weapon at launch, this is your invitation to come back and annoy people all over again.

Zombies: Eidskallen Lighthouse and the Rest

Black Ops 7 Zombies Eidskallen Lighthouse drops players onto a frozen slice of the Totenreich map for a Survival mode built purely to see how long you can avoid becoming fish food. Milestone rewards hit at rounds 10, 25, and 50, handing out an animated emblem, a weapon charm, and a GobbleGum, because apparently surviving isn't its own reward anymore.

  • Directed Mode arrives for Kowakujō with on-screen quest steps and a round cap of 15, for anyone who wants the story without the suffering.
  • Rogue Run expands to Astra Malorum across three difficulty playlists, each with its own GobbleGum and Calling Card bait.
  • Rex Infernus, the mid-season Round-Based map, closes out the Black Ops 7 Zombies story and forces a confrontation with the Warden, complete with a new Wonder Weapon and two legacy weapons.

Endgame: Burn Run and Ability Boosts

The Endgame Burn Run assignment throws Operators into a bomb-rigged vehicle in Avalon and dares them to hit thirty flaming arches before the timer runs out, which is either terrifying design or someone's unresolved trauma from a driving test. Running over Fear enemies adds seconds to the clock, so violence is, once again, the correct answer.

Exotic Ability Boosts also enter the loot pool, mostly dropping from Nightmare tier activities, offering perks like reduced cooldowns and bonus damage types. Endgame's free-to-play window stays open through the end of Season 5, then locks behind Black Ops 7 ownership once Season 6 begins, so enjoy the free ride while it lasts.

Ranked Play Changes

The Ranked Play SR changes hit anyone sitting in Platinum, Diamond, or Crimson with bigger base SR losses on defeat, up to negative 40 for Crimson players who choke. Opponent Rank Adjustments now only trigger across a 3 tier gap or more, so beating someone one rank above you no longer earns a participation trophy. Frequency also joins the Ranked map pool across Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Overload.

New Weapons Overview

Season 5's Black Ops 7 new weapons lineup includes the FG42 Assault Rifle with strong damage but sluggish handling, the dual wield Gremlin SMG that trades ADS ability for pure close range chaos, and the Mammoth LMG, a twin barrel event reward that hits hard and stays flat but moves like it's carrying its own body weight.

Bottom line, Season 5 rewards patience over panic firing, punishes anyone who leaned too hard on the AN-94 or Swordfish A1, and gives the DS20 Mirage its moment in the sun. Adjust your loadouts before the lobby humiliates you for still running last season's crutch.
