WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Sha'tari Skyguard Reputation Guide

The Sha'tari Skyguard operate out of two outposts: Blackwind Landing in Terokkar Forest and the Skyguard Outpost north of Ogri'la in Blade's Edge Mountains. You will be visiting both more times than you care to count, and you started Neutral, which means you are currently nobody to them. The grind from Neutral to Exalted, doing only daily quests without touching a single mob, takes approximately 37 days. That number is not a typo. It is a design choice made by people who wanted you to log in every single day and feel productive without actually accomplishing anything. The good news is that mob grinding in Skettis can push this down dramatically: up to roughly 2,000 reputation per hour if competition is low.

The primary reasons any rational person pursues this reputation are: five distinct Nether Ray mounts available at Exalted, a companion pet, a pair of useful pre-raid cloaks at Revered, and a trinket that will serve casters and healers nicely before they see raid gear. If none of those things interest you, close this guide and go touch grass. There is no shame in that.

Requirements Before You Start

Before you waste anyone's time: including your own: confirm you have the following. The Skyguard will not entertain your enthusiasm without them.

  • Level 70. Non-negotiable. The quests are level 70. The mobs hit like level 70 mobs. You are not a tourist.
  • A flying mount. Expert riding (150 skill / normal flying speed) is the absolute minimum. You technically can be summoned to the quest hubs without one for some quests, but this is the kind of efficiency that earns you quiet contempt from everyone who sees you doing it. Epic flying (300 skill / fast flying) makes the bombing dailies significantly less painful.
  • Gold for 300 riding if you are buying Nether Ray mounts. The mounts cost 160g at Exalted (20% discount applied), but the Artisan Riding skill to actually use epic flying mounts costs 5,000g base. You figured this out already, presumably.
  • Completed the Ogri'la intro chain if you want access to the Blade's Edge hub and its two dailies. This is handled in a separate section below.

WoW TBC Classic Anniversary Sha'tari Skyguard Reputation Guide

Quest Chain Hub 1: Terokkar Forest

Everything starts in Shattrath City, as all things do in TBC, because Blizzard wanted one city to be the answer to every question. Find Yuula near the flight master and accept the opening quest. The chain that follows is linear, not particularly difficult, and will carry you comfortably to Friendly before you ever touch a daily.

Opening Chain: Shattrath to Blackwind Landing

  • Accept Threat from Above from Yuula. Kill 20 Gordunni Ogres in the Barrier Hills north of Shattrath. They are large, slow, and have the strategic awareness of furniture. You get 250 reputation. Return to Yuula.
  • Accept To Skettis! and fly to Blackwind Landing in Terokkar Forest (64.5, 66.0) to deliver an explosives package to Sky Sergeant Doryn. This is a delivery quest. It rewards 10 reputation. It is not exciting. It is, however, necessary.
  • Pick up Fires Over Skettis from Doryn: this is your first bombing daily, unlocked permanently now. It rewards 350 reputation per completion. You will be doing this quest every single day for an uncomfortable number of weeks, so get used to its face.
  • Find Severin (64.1, 66.8) and accept World of Shadows. Collect 6 Shadow Dust from Arakkoa mobs in Skettis. Kill things, loot dust, return, receive the Elixir of Shadows. Do not use the elixir yet. You will need it momentarily. 250 reputation.
  • Also pick up Hungry Nether Rays from Skyguard Handler Deesak (63.1, 65.3) and kill 10 Blackwind Warp Chasers to feed his Nether Ray. Another 250 reputation in it for you.
  • After completing World of Shadows, Severin's repeatable quest More Shadow Dust becomes available. This is your bread-and-butter reputation engine: 6 Shadow Dust per turn-in, 150 reputation per completion, no daily limit. Farm it indefinitely. The Auction House sells Shadow Dust too, if your gold reserves are deeper than your patience.
Quest Chain Hub 1: Terokkar Forest

Continuing the Chain: The Talonpriests

After the opening quests, speak to Sky Commander Adaris for Secrets of the Talonpriests (250 rep). Pop your Elixir of Shadows: it lasts 20 minutes, survives death, and reveals the otherwise invisible undead Arakkoa roaming Skettis. You need to kill three Talonpriests who are also invisible without the elixir, because the developers wanted to make sure you could not accidentally stumble into progress:

After killing all three and completing the follow-up chain through Adaris, you will eventually reach the Adversarial Blood questline through the captive Arakkoa Hazzik in the cage near the camp. This questline involves summoning and killing four mini-bosses using Time-Lost Scrolls (which only drop from Time-Lost Skettis, which you can only see under the Elixir: nested requirements as a design philosophy). Each boss kill grants 100 reputation plus a one-time 350 reputation turn-in per boss. This is good reputation. Do not skip it.

Tip

Dismiss hunter/warlock pets before farming Time-Lost mobs. If a pet lands the killing blow before your character deals any damage, you receive zero reputation. Blizzard coded this specifically to ruin your day.

Completing Adversarial Blood rewards a Time-Lost Offering, which summons Terokk at Terokk's Rest: the island in the middle of Blackwind Lake. Killing Terokk grants 500 reputation and is highly recommended in a group of five or more. He goes immune at 25% health, the Skyguard drops smoke flares followed by firebombs, and you must kite him into the flames to remove the shield. It is theatrical, it is annoying, and it gives you 500 rep. Life could be worse.

Continuing the Chain: The Talonpriests

Quest Chain Hub 2: Blade's Edge Mountains

The second Skyguard hub sits just north of Ogri'la in Blade's Edge Mountains, and accessing it requires you to first do a meaningful chunk of the Ogri'la questline. You cannot simply fly up and be welcomed. The ogres need to know you first. You earn that right by completing quests through Our Boy Wants to be a Skyguard Ranger and A Father's Duty, at which point The Skyguard Outpost becomes available from Chu'a'lor and unlocks five additional quests worth roughly 760 reputation, plus the two permanent Blade's Edge dailies.

Once you are Honored with Ogri'la (not Sha'tari Skyguard: note the difference, do not complain to us when you confuse them), two bonus quests open: Guardian of the Monument and Banish the Demons, both awarding reputation with both factions simultaneously. Do these. They are free reputation and you will accept every scrap.

Flight Path Note

At Honored with Sha'tari Skyguard, a direct flight path between Blackwind Landing (Terokkar) and the Skyguard Outpost (Blade's Edge) becomes available. It is a scenic ride on a random-colored Nether Ray. You will appreciate it exactly once before it becomes a loading screen you click through without thought.

Daily Quests & Rep Per Day

There are four daily quests available once both hubs are fully unlocked. Two in Terokkar Forest, two in Blade's Edge. Each takes minutes to complete. Together they provide a reliable: if brutally slow: daily income of reputation. The table below assumes both hubs are unlocked and you are doing all four.

Quest

Location

Rep

Notes

Fires Over Skettis

Blackwind Landing, Terokkar

+350

Bomb 20 Monstrous Kaliri Eggs from your mount. Doable while mounted. Do it first: the area overlaps with the escort daily below.

Escape from Skettis

Blackwind Landing, Terokkar

+150

Escort a Skyguard Prisoner from one of three cage spawns in the treetops. Soloable. Respawns immediately after completion. The prisoner will try your patience.

Bomb Them Again!

Skyguard Outpost, Blade's Edge

+500

Destroy 15 Fel Cannonball Stacks at the Forge Camps. Completable while mounted. Highest single-quest rep among the dailies.

Wrangle More Aether Rays!

Skyguard Outpost, Blade's Edge

+350

Capture 5 Aether Rays with a Wrangling Rope. They float around Vortex Pinnacle and Crystal Spine. You do not need to return to base between captures.

All four dailies together yield 1,350 reputation per day. This number should terrify you if you are aiming for Exalted (42,000 reputation from Neutral) on dailies alone. Add the repeatable Shadow Dust turn-ins and mob grinding and you will see why most players who actually reach Exalted combine all available methods rather than relying on the daily trickle.

Repeatable Grind: Shadow Dust & Terokk

Unlike the daily quests which are gated by a 24-hour timer, More Shadow Dust is fully repeatable with no daily cap whatsoever. Turn in 6 Shadow Dust, receive 150 reputation and an Elixir of Shadows. Repeat until you hate arakkoa or yourself, whichever comes first.

Shadow Dust drops from most mobs in Skettis at rates between 20% and 32% depending on mob type. It is also tradeable and auctionable: which means if your realm has a functional economy and you have more gold than time, you can buy your way to Exalted through sheer financial contempt for the grind. There is no moral judgment here. Only admiration.

The full repeatable loop that maximizes reputation per hour works as follows:

  1. Farm Arakkoa in Skettis for Shadow Dust. Kill everything. It all gives rep.
  2. Turn in 6 Shadow Dust at Severin for 150 rep and an Elixir.
  3. Pop the Elixir. Find and kill Time-Lost Skettis (invisible without it) for Time-Lost Scrolls.
  4. Collect 10 scrolls and use them to summon the four mini-bosses via the summoning circles. Each gives 100 rep on kill plus a 350 rep one-time turn-in item. You have four bosses: that is a lot of reputation per summon cycle.
  5. After completing Adversarial Blood, use the Time-Lost Offering to summon Terokk for 500 rep. He respawns every 15 minutes. Bring friends. Or a very well-geared character. He cleaves, he does AoE Shadowbolts, and he goes immune at 25% like a coward.
  6. Repeat from step 1.

Terokk Warning

At approximately 25% health, Terokk becomes immune to all damage. The Skyguard NPCs will begin dropping flares and firebombs on the island. You must kite Terokk into the flames to remove the shield. If your group panics and spreads out or breaks line of sight, the immunity phase will last longer than it needs to. Communicate. It is a cooperative game. Allegedly.

Quest Chain Hub 2: Blade's Edge Mountains

Mob Grinding in Skettis

Every mob in Skettis grants reputation all the way through Exalted, which is mercifully unusual for TBC faction design. There is no point at which your grinding becomes "wasted" on a mob that stopped giving rep at Honored. The rates per mob type are listed below, because you deserve precise information about how you are going to spend your evening.

Mob

Rep per Kill

Notes

Skettis Arakkoa (various)

+10

The standard fodder. Drop Shadow Dust. They are everywhere. Kill them all.

Skettis Kaliri

+5

The birds that guard the egg platforms. Kill them while doing Fires Over Skettis for passive rep.

Monstrous Kaliri

+10

Larger variants. Will knock you off your mount. Do not let them knock you off your mount.

Talonsworn Forest-Rager

+30

Highest per-kill rep among standard mobs. Prioritize these when spotted.

Time-Lost Skettis (various)

+10

Only visible under Elixir of Shadows. Drop Time-Lost Scrolls needed for boss summons.

Mini-bosses (Adversarial Blood)

+100 (kill) + 350 (turn-in)

Four total. Requires Time-Lost Scrolls to summon. Once-per-summon turn-in, repeatable.

Terokk

+500

Boss. Respawns every 15 minutes. Requires Time-Lost Offering. Bring a group.

Quartermaster Rewards

The Sha'tari Skyguard quartermaster is Grella, who sits at Blackwind Landing in Skettis, Terokkar Forest (64.3, 66.2), calmly waiting for you to finish earning her respect. She sells the following:

Enriched Terocone Juice

40c

Restores health and mana. Level 65 required to consume. A fine beverage for dungeon runners.

Skyguard Rations

Skywitch's Drape

Revered

14g

Cloak with Intellect and Damage/Healing. Has a use effect: reduces fall speed for 10 seconds. Genuinely useful for casters and also for jumping off things.

Skyguard's Drape

Revered

13g

Cloak with Agility and Attack Power. Same fall-slowing use effect. The physical DPS version of the above. Both cloaks are solid pre-raid pieces.

Airman's Ribbon of Gallantry

Exalted

~4g

Trinket with Spell Crit Strike Rating. 30% chance to increase spell damage and healing by 80 on killing a target that yields XP or Honor. Worth equipping until you get raid trinkets.

Skyguard Tabard

Exalted

1g

A tabard. You wear it to communicate your commitment to grinding. People will understand.

Nether Ray Fry

Exalted

~10g

A tiny Nether Ray companion pet. It floats near you. It does nothing. It is perfect.

Quartermaster Rewards

The Nether Ray Mounts (Exalted)

Five mounts. All Exalted. All 160g each (20% discount applied at Exalted, down from 200g). All requiring 300 Riding skill to use. They are functionally identical: same speed, same animations, same everything: distinguished only by color. You may purchase all five if you have the gold and the desire to park five different squids in your mount journal.

Riding Skill Reminder

The Artisan Riding skill (300) required to use these epic flying mounts costs 5,000g before discounts. The mounts themselves cost 160g each. If you have been grinding this faction without first securing 300 riding, this is the moment you realize you have been grinding toward something you cannot yet use. Budgeting: World of Warcraft Anniversary reputation help matters.

When does the Sha'tari Skyguard become available?

The faction unlocks in Phase 2 of TBC Classic Anniversary. You cannot start before that.

Do I need a flying mount to grind Sha'tari Skyguard reputation?

Yes. Expert riding minimum is required. Epic flying makes bombing dailies significantly faster.

How long does it take to reach Exalted with Sha'tari Skyguard?

About 37 days using dailies only. Focused mob grinding can cut this to under 13 hours total.

Is More Shadow Dust a daily quest or fully repeatable?

Fully repeatable with no daily limit. Buy dust from the Auction House to spam turn-ins indefinitely.

How many Nether Ray mounts can I buy from Grella at Exalted?

All five — Green, Purple, Red, Silver, and Blue — each costing 160g with the Exalted discount.
