Torque is a compact, high-intensity multiplayer map introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 2 Reloaded, which went live across all platforms on March 11, 2026. Set on a collapsed and fractured freeway suspended above Los Angeles, the map pits JSOC forces against The Guild in a chaotic ambush scenario pulled directly from the lore of Avalon's ongoing conflict. The visual and mechanical DNA of Torque draws clearly from Aftermath — the Battle of Los Angeles map from Black Ops 2, reimagined through the lens of BO7's fast, vertical movement system. Twisting roads, inverted overpass sections, wrecked vehicles, and fog-covered dead zones all combine to create an arena that punishes predictability and rewards players who master both horizontal flanking routes and vertical wall-jump positioning.
A JSOC rapid-response unit moves to intercept a Guild convoy pushing through the shattered remains of the Los Angeles freeway interchange. Infrastructure torn apart by prior engagements leaves the highway suspended at broken angles above the city floor below. Fog from burning wreckage fills the lower levels. The Guild has claimed the elevated sections and dug in — JSOC has minutes to push through before the convoy slips into the tunnels beneath Avalon.
The narrative backdrop for Torque connects directly to the broader Season 2 storyline in which Alden Dorne and The Guild continue their offensive operations across Avalon. The map's setting on a fractured Los Angeles overpass — rendered in BO7's signature high-fidelity visual style with dramatic volumetric fog and destruction physics — serves both as a nod to the Black Ops 2 co-op mission that first depicted this urban warzone and as a fresh theater for the escalating conflict that Season 2 has been building toward.
Black Ops 7's Torque continues a long tradition of Treyarch revisiting their own map legacy. Just as Cliff Town reimagines Yemen from BO2, Torque channels the chaotic urban energy of Aftermath — but rebuilds it entirely around BO7's modern movement mechanics including wall jumps, omnidirectional sliding, and the Scout Hybrid perk system.
Torque is structured around three primary combat corridors that funnel into a contested central zone. The map's verticality is its defining feature — multiple elevation layers created by collapsed freeway sections allow players to contest objectives from above or push unseen through lower-level routes. Every key location has both a ground-level approach and at least one elevated angle reachable via wall jump.
A server room situated north of the Chasm. Narrow corridors dominate this zone, making it ideal territory for shotguns and aggressive SMG plays. Side openings on each wall mean that anchoring without a teammate covering your flanks is a death sentence. Area-effect Field Upgrades like Scrambler and Squad Link cover the entire interior from a single deployment point — the single most important piece of equipment knowledge on this objective.
The central transition zone where upper and lower freeway decks intersect near the wrecked Motorhome structure. When the Main Road becomes a kill zone, the Off-Ramp routes — both above and below the primary sightline — act as alternate paths that many players ignore under pressure, creating reliable ambush windows. This zone decides most Search and Destroy rounds through late-round rotations.
A large trailer parked on the western edge of the map functions as the primary visual control point for the Helix junction. The trailer's open doors provide sightlines across to the armored vehicle wreck and directly into the Acropolis National Bank facade. Climbing onto the trailer platform itself offers elevated cover while maintaining visual control of the Maintenance zone entrance — this is the single most contested high-ground position in 6v6 Domination.
The exposed central highway stretch connects all three objective zones and is the map's primary meat-grinder. Fog from burning vehicles obscures parts of the lower Chasm, which cannot be accessed by climbing vehicle surfaces — but those same fog-covered vehicles function as ideal wall-jump launch points to catch enemies crossing the open road. Controlling Main Road typically correlates directly with controlling the scoreboard.
Fog-covered vehicles on Torque cannot be mounted from the top. This is not a bug — it is intentional design. However, their sides and bumpers remain valid wall-jump surfaces, letting skilled players launch over the fog layer to gain elevation that appears physically impossible to enemies tracking from ground level.

Torque's compact footprint and vertical geometry skew the weapon meta heavily toward mobile, close-to-mid-range tools. The map does have a small number of sight lines that reward marksman rifles — particularly the Helix-to-Maintenance angle — but the map overall punishes slow-handling weapons.

Torque is designed around BO7's wall-jump system. Do not treat wall jumps as escape tools. Use the fog-covered vehicle surfaces to launch upward and immediately engage enemies who are not expecting height. Winning the initial height battle in the Chasm zone wins a round.
Combining one red and one blue Perk on Torque activates the Scout Hybrid specialty — hiding your Operator from the minimap for five seconds after each elimination. On a map this small, consecutive off-map kills allow devastating chains before enemy teams can track your position.
The Wildcard Prepper lets you deploy two Field Upgrades simultaneously. In the Maintenance zone, Scrambler + Squad Link creates a bubble that covers the entire objective interior — jamming enemy minimaps while pinging your own teammates' positions. Extremely high value on Hardpoint.
The Off-Ramp / Motorhome transition zone (B objective) is consistently neglected mid-fight when Main Road heats up. One player committed to the upper Off-Ramp route catches rotating enemies completely off guard in late S&D rounds. This information alone wins more Search rounds than any mechanical improvement.

The compact size means constant spawn-flip pressure. Avoid over-committing to one end of the Main Road — teams that create a split-lane presence force spawn breaks that snowball quickly. Prioritize Trailer + Off-Ramp dual presence.
B is the most mechanically complex flag — contested from above (Trailer), below (Chasm), and directly (Motorhome). Controlling A first and then contesting B from the Maintenance side creates the most sustainable flag rotation. Never hard anchor C Trailer; float it.
The hill at Helix demands vertical awareness — teams that win the wall-jump height battle consistently outlast teams that push on foot. Scrambler + Squad Link on Maintenance hills creates the most suffocating hold on this map in any mode.
Late-round plant-or-defend decisions almost always hinge on the Off-Ramp. Both bomb sites sit at map extremes, so mid-round map control through the Chasm is critical. One player holding the Trailer position gives the team vision over every rotation path simultaneously.
Torque is confirmed for 2v2 Gunfight mode — a rarity that signals Treyarch's confidence in the map's compact footprint. In Gunfight, the Maintenance corridor becomes the decisive zone almost every round. First team to establish interior control wins.
Season 2 Reloaded's Gauntlet rotates five modes inside a single match every two minutes — Domination, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, TDM, and Roulette. On Torque, this means loadout flexibility is critical. Run an AR base class and keep an SMG secondary for Maintenance-heavy rotations

Activate Scout Hybrid via red+blue perk combo. Get two kills in Off-Ramp and become minimap-invisible for 10 consecutive seconds — push Main Road while ghosted. |

Let early round play out on Main Road. In the final 60 seconds, single player flanks via Off-Ramp upper deck. Enemies defending site will not expect an elevated push from this angle at round end. |

Not exactly. It's a spiritual successor inspired by Aftermath's aesthetic, featuring entirely new layouts built specifically for Black Ops 7's unique movement system.
Its multi-layer vertical architecture sets it apart. The collapsed freeway concept forces constant engagements across distinct elevation levels within a uniquely small, dense footprint.
The new Voyak KT-3 assault rifle and Swordfish A1 Marksman Rifle excel here, offering strong mid-range dominance and burst-fire options for controlling main sightlines.
The map shrinks. The Maintenance corridor becomes the primary combat zone, rewarding map control, mechanical execution, and strategic wall-jumps against isolated enemies.
Play as a floating anchor. Capture flag A at Maintenance for safety, then constantly rotate toward B using Scout Hybrid to disrupt enemy holds.
