Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 2 Battle Pass guide
BO7 Season 2 Reloaded drops March 11 with Paradox Junction: a time-looped Nuketown Zombies map featuring the Blundergat, Rad-Hounds, Cursed Mode...
Oh, look, it is Nuketown! Who could have possibly seen this coming, except for literally anyone who has played a Black Ops game in the last fourteen years? Treyarch has graciously decided to resurrect this suburban cul-de-sac once more, treating it with the same repetitive obsession a golden retriever has for a mangled tennis ball.
But do not worry, they have spiced it up this time. Instead of just running in circles around a dilapidated bus, you get to run in circles around a bus in two different timelines. Plus, you get the absolute joy of fighting irradiated dogs that leave toxic puddles on the ground just to ruin your day, and a FOMO-driven Easter Egg that you have to complete before Season 3 if you want the exclusive bragging rights of a digital Calling Card. Truly, an innovative masterpiece of survival horror.
Nuketown is a small suburban cul-de-sac flanked by two model homes (one yellow, one blue), with a bus in the middle and absolutely nowhere to hide from anything. It has been a Zombies setting twice before: once in Black Ops 2, once in Black Ops 4's Alpha Omega: and Treyarch has elected to use it a third time, because they apparently view it the way a golden retriever views its favorite tennis ball.
Community Reception Warning The community response to re-using Nuketown a third time was… let's call it "spirited." Treyarch preemptively released a statement the day before launch noting that "Nuketown Zombies holds a special place in our hearts" and that "truly epic locations" awaited in Black Ops 7's remaining maps. This is called managing expectations. Take notes.
To Treyarch's credit, the playable area of Paradox Junction extends beyond the traditional cul-de-sac, incorporating a larger portion of the neighborhood than prior Nuketown Zombies maps. You're not just running circles around a bus this time: there's additional territory to explore in both timeline variants.
Here is the actual hook that makes Paradox Junction more than just "Nuketown again": the map exists in two simultaneous states, and you'll move between them throughout a match.
Nuketown is intact. Houses standing, white picket fences doing their job, the faint illusion that nothing terrible has happened yet. The undead still outnumber the living but at least the architecture is holding up.
The bomb has gone off. The neighborhood is obliterated, irradiated, and considerably less hospitable. The Rad-Hounds thrive here. The infrastructure does not. Welcome to the consequences.
You'll switch between timelines automatically as rounds progress. However, if you have enough Essence to spend, you can also manually warp through a cracked, golden portal to transition at will. This gives players strategic flexibility: you can time jumps around special rounds, resource availability, or simply because the other timeline has better loot right now.
Strategy Note Perk Machines are randomized across timelines. If the perk you need isn't showing up in one version of Nuketown, jump to the other: it may be available there. Plan your Essence spending accordingly before warping.

The bread and butter of your misery. Paradox Junction features the following enemy types:
Standard
The classics. They walk toward you. You shoot them. This relationship has been consistent since 2008.
These ones have the audacity to wear armor. Target exposed weak points or use enough firepower to stop caring about efficiency.
Larger, slower, and significantly more of an obstacle. High health pools. Best addressed before they close distance.
Fast-moving, irradiated canines that explode into radioactive clouds upon death. The Warden's version of a good dog.
The Rad-Hound is Paradox Junction's answer to traditional hellhound rounds. These radioactive animals are fast, reasonably easy to kill individually, but come in packs designed to overwhelm positioning. The real threat isn't getting bitten: it's the explosion on death. A Rad-Hound that dies at your feet will coat the immediate area in a radioactive cloud that continues dealing damage after the dog itself is gone.
Radiation Warning The radioactive clouds linger. Running through the aftermath of a Rad-Hound wave without checking the ground is how your run ends in round 15. Treat the post-hound floor like a minefield for a few seconds.
The Blundergat is back, returning from its original appearance in Mob of the Dead (Black Ops 2). If you're unfamiliar: this is a civil war-era inspired shotgun that fires all four barrels simultaneously. The pellets spread in a horizontal line rather than a radial pattern, meaning it efficiently clears horizontal rows of enemies with a single pull. The reload is short. The damage in early rounds is unreasonable in the best possible way.
Obtainable via the Mystery Box, or through specific steps tied to the map's exploration. Yes, the upgrade path requires effort. No, you cannot just slap it in the Pack-a-Punch and call it a day. Treyarch wants you to work for the good version.
Complete the hidden upgrade steps and the Blundergat becomes the Sundergat: a weapon that doesn't just kill zombies, it philosophically dismantles them. The Sundergat wrenches soul energy out of enemies it hits. After a fatal blow, the foe collapses forward and a vaguely human-shaped (or hound-shaped) cloud of ectoplasm rises from the body before dissipating. It's unsettling and extremely satisfying.
Upgrade Note The Blundergat cannot be upgraded through the Pack-a-Punch Machine. Getting the Sundergat requires completing a series of hidden quest steps. The upgraded version is very likely required to complete the Main Quest Easter Egg. Prioritize finding the upgrade path early.
The primary firing mode. Shots are more powerful than the base Blundergat and additionally rip soul energy from struck enemies. Zombies killed this way produce the ectoplasm effect described above. The damage output represents a significant jump from the base CoD Warzone service.
Instead of firing normally, you can hold the trigger to charge the weapon. Releasing it produces a blast with an additional conical area of effect beyond the standard horizontal spread. In addition to regular and soul-expelling damage, the Sunder Purge has the added benefit of knocking down zombies caught in the cone. This creates crawlers at range and buys critical breathing room in tight situations. It expends additional ammunition to charge.
The apex attack. An alternate way to release the charged-up Sundergat attack, the Sunder Exile releases a long, narrow beam of focused energy in addition to the widespread blast and conical Purge area of effect. Anything caught in this shearing ray is, per Treyarch's own words, "torn asunder." This is the move you save for bosses, high-traffic chokepoints, or the moment you're cornered and need something to go very, very wrong for the zombies.
Primary fire. Enhanced damage. Pulls ectoplasm from killed enemies.
Charged fire. Conical AoE. Knocks down zombies. Costs extra ammo.
Alternate charged release. Long focused beam. Deletes whatever it hits.
In addition to the Blundergat and Sundergat, Paradox Junction also includes the Ray Gun, Ray Gun Mark II, Monkey Bomb, and LT53 Kazimir accessible via the Mystery Box. So if the Blundergat isn't cooperating, the Box has backup plans.

Paradox Junction brings back the Electro Shock Trap: crackling electrical coils that stun and sear zombies that wander into them. These are located in the garages of the Nuketown homes. Activating them costs Essence, but the crowd control value in narrow spaces is worth it. If you're funneling zombies through the garages intentionally, these traps become a legitimate part of your round management strategy and not just scenery.
Scattered across both timelines are Loot Cysts: pulsating sacs attached to surfaces that drip green fluid and pulse with an energy that suggests they have opinions about being touched. Interact with them and they burst, releasing helpful items. They are grotesque, weirdly satisfying to pop, and a reliable source of supplementary resources mid-run. Check surfaces in both timeline variants because their locations differ between pre-nuke and post-nuke Nuketown.
Perk Machine placement in Paradox Junction is randomized across the two timelines. The perk you want may not be in the same spot between sessions, and it may only appear in one version of the map during a given run. This encourages: or forces, depending on your outlook: active exploration of both timelines rather than routing straight to a memorized location. Check both pre-nuke and post-nuke Nuketown before deciding you've been abandoned by the perk economy.
Known Perk Location Quick Revive is confirmed at a fixed location: against the back of the Bus in the Cul-De-Sac post-nuke. The Rampage Inducer is on a table at the bottom of the Cul-De-Sac post-nuke. At least a couple of things are stable in this time-fractured hellscape.
The Pack-a-Punch Machine is available on Paradox Junction. New Pack-a-Punch Camos are introduced with this map, giving cosmetically-motivated players something to grind toward beyond the Main Quest. Note: the Pack-a-Punch does not work on the Blundergat: that weapon requires its own upgrade path to become the Sundergat.
The Mystery Box is present and active. With the Season 02 Reloaded update, an Ultra Aether Tool has been added to the Mystery Box drop pool when players are at Tier 2 or above. It arrives when it wants to. The Blundergat can also be obtained here, if the RNG gods are feeling charitable.
Cracked golden portals serve as the manual timeline switch mechanic. Spending Essence activates them, allowing deliberate warp between pre-nuke and post-nuke Nuketown outside of the automatic round-based transitions. Use them strategically for perk access, loot route optimization, or simply escaping a bad situation in one timeline by dropping into the other one.

Perk machines on Paradox Junction are randomized in placement between timelines, which means you need to actively explore both versions of the map to locate what you need. The confirmed fixed locations are Quick Revive (post-nuke Bus area) and the Rampage Inducer (post-nuke Cul-De-Sac). Everything else requires scouting.
Additionally, the Der Wunderfizz Machine is present for randomly dispensing perks. A previously patched bug caused it to display incorrect prices when reloading a save while holding the Spider Fang Relic: that has since been fixed in the Season 02 Reloaded patch notes. So your phantom overcharges on Wunderfizz are now resolved. You're welcome.
Perk Priority With Rad-Hounds causing radioactive area damage on death, Jugger-Nog is your best friend. Prioritize it in your perk route. The hounds will absolutely catch you once before you've memorized their explosion radius.
Paradox Junction launches with Cursed Mode available from day one. If you're not familiar: Cursed Mode is Treyarch's way of telling you that standard Zombies wasn't making you suffer enough.
In Cursed Mode, players begin with only a pistol, a limited HUD, and a Black Ops 3-inspired points system. The starting conditions are intentionally disadvantageous. The goal is survival. In exchange for this voluntary misery, you gain access to powerful starting bonuses: Golden Armor, Pack-a-Punch IV, and Ultra Weapon Rarity are active from the outset, because Treyarch giveth and taketh in equal and chaotic measure.
Relics are modifiers that increase Cursed Mode difficulty when equipped. The more Relics you activate, the harder the run: and the more prestigious the rewards. Relics unlocked on Paradox Junction can be applied to increase difficulty, and conversely, Relics you've previously unlocked on other maps can be brought into Paradox Junction. Progress is cross-map within the Cursed system.
Cursed Survival Rewards Completing milestones in Cursed Mode earns Relic Charms: items that are not obtainable through standard play. These are described as "highly prized." If you're chasing completionism, Cursed Mode is not optional.
Cursed Survival Rewards on Paradox Junction

Paradox Junction ships with a full Main Quest Easter Egg available from launch day: March 11, 2026. Directed Mode for this map will not be available at launch; that arrives in Season 3. If you complete the Main Quest before Directed Mode arrives, you earn a unique Calling Card variant. That's the incentive to not wait around for the hand-holding version.
Early Completion Bonus Players who finish the Main Quest before Directed Mode launches in Season 3 receive an exclusive Calling Card variant that will not be available after Directed Mode goes live. If you have any intention of completing the Easter Egg, now is the time.
Completing the Paradox Junction Main Quest earns the following:
Paradox Junction contains collectable Audio Logs, Documents, and Artifacts spread throughout the map. Obtaining all necessary Intel earns:
So yes, there are three separate Calling Cards available from a combination of the Main Quest, Mastery Challenge, and Intel collection: plus the time-sensitive Early Completion variant. Treyarch is generous with Calling Cards specifically.
Story Note: The Missing Character The Main Quest also addresses Ava Jansen's situation: Samantha Maxis's daughter who disappeared into the Dark Aether at the end of Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. The Warden is holding her and using her powers. The Main Quest's narrative resolution involves directly confronting this storyline thread, making Paradox Junction a significant chapter in the overall Dark Aether Saga regardless of how one feels about the map's aesthetic choices.
The new Rare GobbleGum introduced in Season 02 Reloaded. In Zombies: activates charm on nearby zombies, turning up to five of them into temporary allies who fight on your behalf. These zombie converts will attack other undead for the duration of the effect. In Dead Ops Arcade 4: nearby zombies are temporarily turned to do your bidding.
This is not a stealth or evasion tool: the charmed zombies actively attack their former colleagues. Use it when surrounded, during high-round Rad-Hound waves, or whenever you want to watch zombies fight each other and feel very briefly like a genius. The effect is temporary. Plan accordingly.
The Lockshot Scorestreak: introduced primarily for Multiplayer in Season 02 Reloaded: is also available in Zombies. This smart pistol locks onto multiple targets when aiming down sights. A single trigger pull then eliminates all locked targets in quick succession. It carries three rounds that each lock onto a separate enemy before firing automatically.
A dedicated Paradox Junction Leaderboard Event runs alongside the map's launch. Your performance on Paradox Junction: specifically your highest rounds and scores: determines your placement on a competitive leaderboard. Rewards for participating and placing include:
Weekly Challenges continue throughout the mid-season period and include Zombies-specific objectives. The Lockshot Scorestreak, notably, is unlocked through Weekly Challenges rather than being freely available from launch.
Season 02 Reloaded is the closing window on several Seasonal Camo Challenges. The targets:
These are the mid-season deadline. If you've been putting off Weekly Challenges all season while telling yourself you'd get to them, this is your notification that the window is closing.
Also returning permanently in Season 02 Reloaded: though not exclusive to Paradox Junction: is Starting Room mode. In this mode, the crew is trapped in the starting area of a Round-Based Zombies map. That's it. You cannot leave. You have only the resources and machines available in the starting room, and you must survive for as long as possible within those constraints.
It sounds limiting because it is. That's the point. The mode strips away map traversal, zone unlocking, and the gradual acquisition of power that defines standard Zombies progression. What remains is a raw test of how long you can make diminishing resources work against an infinitely scaling threat. Starting Room is available across maps and is now a permanent mode following its initial introduction.
Paradox Junction isn't the only Zombies content arriving with Season 02 Reloaded. The existing round-based maps and survival maps received updates and additions as well.
As noted above, Cursed Mode is available on Paradox Junction at launch. The existing Cursed Survival maps: Vandorn Farm, Exit 115, Zarya Cosmodrome, and Mars: retain their Cursed availability with no changes to their base reward structures.
The Season 02 Reloaded patch notes include a number of fixes across existing content. Highlights relevant to Zombies players:
Ultra Aether Tool The addition of the Ultra Aether Tool to the Mystery Box at Tier 2+ is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement for high-round players across all maps. It was previously a very rare acquisition. Factor this into your upgrade routing if you're grinding deep rounds on existing maps.

Technically yes, but expanded. It's the third Nuketown Zombies setting, with a larger playable area, dual timelines, and new mechanics. Whether that justifies the reuse is a personal decision Treyarch has decided to leave to you.
You cannot use Pack-a-Punch on the Blundergat. The Sundergat requires completing specific hidden upgrade steps within the map. The upgrade is likely needed for the Main Quest Easter Egg, so finding the steps early is advised.
Directed Mode for Paradox Junction is confirmed for Season 3. Completing the Main Quest before its arrival earns you an exclusive Calling Card variant not obtainable after Directed Mode launches.
Kill them at range using the Blundergat's horizontal spread and immediately back away. Their death explosion creates a lingering radioactive cloud: standing in it after the kill is how you die to a dog you already shot.
Yes: the Turncoat charm applies to nearby zombies including Rad-Hounds during special rounds, temporarily converting up to five of them into allies. Charmed Rad-Hounds still explode on death, however, so positioning matters even when they're on your side.
