BO7 Season 2 Reloaded Weapon Tier List & Best Loadouts
Rebirth Island is BACK: and bigger than ever. Our full BO7 Season 2 map guide covers every POI, Winter changes, the new Turbine & Outpost, and ranked
Rebirth Island is arguably Warzone's most iconic compact battle royale map: a relentless, high-density Resurgence arena set on a Soviet-era prison island. Originally introduced in December 2020 alongside Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's Season One, the map has returned and evolved through every major CoD cycle. In its current Black Ops 7 Season 2 iteration it has been dramatically overhauled with a winter theme, new POIs, Guild faction takeover, and a host of mechanical changes that reshape familiar routes.
Its tight design rewards aggressive, fast-paced tactics while punishing passive camping. Every match is packed with action: long lulls are rare, respawn mechanics keep the pressure on until your team is finally eliminated, and the small footprint means the gas closes quickly and rotations are decisive.
Resurgence Rule As long as at least one teammate is alive, eliminated players respawn automatically. This encourages aggressive pushing, calculated risks, and constant momentum. Only when your last squadmate dies does your team get permanently eliminated.
An illicit Soviet base raided and shut down by the CIA in 1968, during which Operator Russell Adler caught and forcefully interrogated base commander Vikhor 'Stitch' Kuzmin. The island was rebuilt and recommissioned by Stitch in 1984 with one purpose: the creation and testing of the deadly Nova 6 gas.
Rebirth Island's roots stretch back to Call of Duty: Black Ops II's Zombies mode, where the same Alcatraz prison setting appeared in Mob of the Dead. The location resurfaced in Black Ops III (Blood of the Dead), then made its battle royale debut in Black Ops 4's Blackout mode before becoming a full Warzone map.
In the Black Ops 6 era, a submarine belonging to a mysterious faction surfaced north of the island. By Season 1 of Black Ops 7, The Guild: a powerful shadowy corporation serving as the main antagonist faction in BO7's campaign: began establishing footholds on the island by placing shipping containers around Dock and Living Quarters. In Season 2, the Guild's takeover is complete: multiple POIs have been architecturally renovated with their corporate aesthetic, a sulfur-extraction facility (the Turbine POI) now operates at the docks, and NOVA 7 gas experiments have begun.
Infil Gas Explosions (New in Season 2) At the start of each match, unexpected gas explosions tied to Guild NOVA 7 experiments may temporarily engulf select POIs. These areas become inaccessible at infil until the gas clears. Always scan the island during your drop for active gas zones and adjust your landing accordingly.

Rebirth Island currently features 11+ named and notable POIs. The Season 2 Winter update added two new areas (Turbine and Outpost) and renovated roughly five existing locations with Guild architecture. Here is a full breakdown of every key area.
Hot Drop
The geographic and tactical heart of Rebirth Island: its largest building, dead center on the map. Multiple entry points via paved walkways, staircases, exterior ladders, and ascenders. The main cell block runs across four long corridors with brutal close-range sightlines. Individual cells on both floors serve as prime ambush points. A central catwalk overlooks the block floor below.
Landmark
Rebirth Island's most iconic landmark, rising from the northwest yard just outside the Prison. Provides two tiers of elevated 360° views: climb the exposed ladder or use the faster ascender. One of the best sniper/spotter nests on the entire map.
North Zone
A tall, multi-story brick-and-steel building on the island's northern end. Originally a chemical weapons research facility. Features a loading area via double-entry garage, upper floors via metal staircase, a basement with hazardous materials storage, and a commanding rooftop overlooking the northwest coastline.
New: S2
The most significant new POI added in Season 2, replacing the old Dock power room. A sprawling Guild sulfur-extraction facility built into the island itself. A massive central turbine dominates the space, surrounded by a hexagonal Sulfur Extraction chamber accessed via gantry. Multiple entrances at varying heights: strong verticality reshapes mid-game rotations around the Dock area.
New: S2
An unmarked-but-substantial new area south of Living Quarters, east of Stronghold. Previously a dangerous, exposed hillside promontory with minimal cover: now a proper combat zone with new structures, a jetty with three docking bays, a raised cargo bay, a SAM battery, and a comms edifice with a prototype laser cannon and radar dish above a locked bunker.
Updated S2
Formerly the Security Area, Stronghold is a fortified complex in the island's southwest. A satellite/checkpoint tower provides commanding elevation; surrounding cover objects and a green warehouse offer reliable protection. Features a gun emplacement on the north end, helipad and shed on the south end, and rocky shoreline rocks for coastal repositioning.
Updated S2
A command complex featuring the island's highest surveillance tower: the tallest man-made vantage point on the map. The main building is a two-story rectangular structure with multiple open floors and viewpoints. Four entry doors. The tower ladder is accessed from the Prison Block-facing entrance.
East Zone
A sprawling multi-section industrial zone in the eastern portion of the island. Features a power station, underground showers accessible from the first floor, and a tunnel beneath the road connecting to the front section. A large warehouse-like area filled with crates, containers, and dumpsters favors longer-range engagements inside its open spaces.
Central
A series of decontamination corridors and chambers between the Prison and the Chemical Engineering complex. Originally expanded in the Black Ops Cold War Season 3 Reloaded update. Active Decon Stations here can cleanse gas effects: a critical resource in late-game circles.
Updated S2
Residential barracks in the island's northeast, housing guard and staff accommodations. Guild shipping containers were added here in the Season 1 Reloaded update and expanded in Season 2. A comparatively quieter POI used primarily for loot and rotation rather than sustained fights.
Updated S2
The island's main coastal loading area. In Season 2, Guild shipping containers have been placed throughout the Dock area. The old power room location is now occupied by the Turbine POI entrance. Vehicular routes through Dock have been refined for faster rotations.
South Zone
The southern port area, home to the tram connecting to the Prison rooftop. The warehouse complex provides solid multi-level coverage and loot. Long Beach/Shore areas along the south coast offer open movement but limited cover: risky to cross without a smoke or distraction.
Turbine replaces the Dock power room: a massive, multi-level Guild sulfur-extraction facility dominated by a central turbine with the island's best layered vertical combat.
Outpost fills the south's previously empty and dangerous transition zone with structures, a jetty, SAM battery, and a comms tower above a locked bunker.
The submarine that sat north of Bioweapons has been permanently removed.
Approximately five existing POIs have been architecturally redesigned by the Guild: modern interiors, brighter palettes, and improved structural clarity. This directly improves target acquisition in close-quarters fights.
Adjusted Lighting: Atmospheric fog has been removed island-wide, restoring the same clean sightline angles last seen in the map's original 2020 launch. The sun angle matches the classic Black Ops Cold War lighting.
Footprints in the Snow In areas with deeper snowfall, player footprints are physically visible in the terrain. This adds a new tracking meta: check footprints around buildings to confirm whether enemies have been through an area recently.
Snowstorm Gas Circle In Winter Rebirth playlists, the standard gas collapse is replaced with a Snowstorm Gas: a full blizzard hazard with identical gameplay rules (same damage, gas masks, decontamination stations) but a dramatically different visual presentation. All game mechanics and readability remain unchanged.
Snow Vehicle Jumps New vehicle ramps built from snow allow cars and other vehicles to navigate between roads that were previously only accessible on foot. This significantly accelerates cross-map rotations and enables vehicle-based approaches to POIs that previously required dismounting.

At the start of each match, one of several random events alters the map. In the standard variant, a jet is shot down and the map remains intact. Other variants include: the lighthouse destroyed and falling on the Prison; the Prison roof blown open (new vertical entry points); or the Water Tower toppled (permanently removes that vantage for the match). In Season 2, NOVA 7 gas explosions may also temporarily close POIs at infil.
The defining mechanic of Rebirth Island. Eliminated players respawn automatically while one teammate remains alive. This encourages calculated aggression: you can revive downed teammates quickly and push enemies without fear of permanent elimination. Teams are only truly out when the last member is killed with no active respawn timers.
The classic Call of Duty Multiplayer killstreak now exists in Rebirth Island's loot pool. Functions identically to its Multiplayer iteration: a remote-controlled explosive vehicle: adapted to Warzone's scale and circle pressure. It's a high-skill, high-reward option particularly effective for flushing entrenched enemies out of buildings.
A Resurgence playlist variant where players always drop with their Custom Loadout equipped. In Season 2, Perks can now only be earned through eliminations: get kills to unlock your Perk slots progressively during the match. Rack up enough kills to unlock the powerful Specialist Perk for a major late-game advantage.
A tram platform on the Prison rooftop runs continuously to/from the southern Harbor. This is one of the fastest ways to rotate from the south coast to the Prison rooftop: ideal for late-game repositioning when the gas is collapsing from the south. The tram ride does expose you temporarily, so use it when the path is clear.
Information panels found in multiple locations across the island have been updated in Season 2 with additional tactical data. Their locations have been expanded across more POIs. Interact with these to gain real-time intel on circle collapses, nearby activity, or other match state information.
Standard Warzone gas protection applies. Gas Masks provide temporary immunity during gas exposure. Decontamination Stations scattered across the map (particularly in the Decon Zone POI) instantly cleanse gas damage. Critical for late-game survival when the snowstorm circle forces everyone into a tiny final area.
Rapid vertical traversal tools attached to buildings across the map. Key ascenders include on the Prison Block (multiple), Water Tower, and several POI rooftops. Mastering the fastest ascender routes can be the difference between contesting a rooftop in time or arriving late. They are faster than ladders but slightly noisier.

Resurgence Ranked Play: Eligibility (Season 2) To queue for Ranked, you must achieve Top Placement (finishing in the Top 6 teams in Resurgence) in at least 20 qualifying matches. Ranked uses Trios format and operates on competitive Call of Duty League-derived rules. Eliminations reward skill-delta-adjusted SR: defeating a much higher-ranked opponent is worth more. Boot camp and casual modes do not count toward placement qualifiers.
Prison Block and Headquarters are the highest-traffic areas and where the most kills happen in the first minute. Best for experienced squads that want to rack up eliminations early and establish central control. High risk of full squad wipe if the fight goes badly, but central positioning is unbeatable for mid-game rotations.
Bioweapons, Stronghold, and Chemical Engineering offer solid loot with moderate early competition. Good for squads that prefer to gear up before engaging Prison-area fights. Each has strong defensive positions and clear rotation paths toward the center.
Soft Drops (New Player Friendly)
Living Quarters, Outpost (new in S2), and the Harbor area attract less traffic early game. Ideal for casual play or when your team needs to establish loadout first. However, the tighter gas makes these peripheral drops increasingly dangerous if you don't rotate early.
General Rebirth Island Tactics
Always Push, Don't Hide Passive play is punished on Rebirth. The map is too small to find safe corners for long, and hiding while squadmates are dead wastes respawn windows. Always push when teammates are up: the Resurgence mechanic rewards aggression.
Track Footprints (Season 2) In snow-heavy areas, enemy footprints are visible in deeper snowfall. Before entering a building blind, circle the exterior to check for tracks. No tracks = likely clear. Fresh tracks leading in = proceed with caution.
Memorize Infil Strike Result Before landing, note which Infil Strike variant triggered. If the Water Tower is down, avoid expecting that vantage. If the Prison roof is open, prepare for vertical angles from above in Prison fights.
Don't Ignore Infil Gas Explosions If your target drop zone is hit by a NOVA 7 gas explosion at infil, don't land into it. Redirect to an adjacent POI immediately. The gas clears during the early game, but you'll die before it does if you drop straight into it.
Use the Tram Many players forget the Prison-to-Harbor tram. In late circles when the gas collapses from the south, the tram is the fastest route to Prison rooftop without risking open-ground exposure. Learn the tram timing and use it proactively.
Vehicle Rotations via Snow Jumps New vehicle snow ramps in Season 2 allow faster cross-map movement. Using a vehicle to rotate from, say, Stronghold to Bioweapons while the gas closes can save precious seconds. Learn the new jump locations early.
Loadout Priorities Rebirth Island's tight spaces favor close-to-mid range weapons. SMG + AR is the meta combination. Shotguns are viable for Prison interior fights but useless on rooftops. If you're playing rooftop/sniper roles (Prison roof, Water Tower, Headquarters tower), a sniper or marksman rifle in your secondary is essential. LMGs excel in the Chemical Engineering warehouse interior.

Rebirth Island Winter is the Season 2 (Feb 5, 2026) snow-covered version of the map. It features visible player footprints in deep snow, a Snowstorm Gas circle instead of the standard gas, new Guild-renovated POIs, the new Turbine and Outpost areas, and snow vehicle ramps. Core Resurgence gameplay rules remain identical.
Two new POIs arrived in Season 2: Turbine (a massive Guild sulfur-extraction facility at Dock, replacing the old power room) and Outpost (a southern combat zone south of Living Quarters with structures, a SAM battery, and a locked bunker beneath a comms tower).
Ranked Play is Trios format. Players must first achieve Top 6 placement in 20 qualifying matches. Eliminations earn skill-delta-adjusted SR: beating higher-ranked opponents scores more. Boot camp and casual modes don't count. Ranked launched February 5, 2026 alongside Season 2, with an improved anti-cheat framework addressing Season 1's issues.
The Guild: the main antagonist faction in Black Ops 7's campaign: began establishing a presence in the Season 1 Reloaded update (Jan 8, 2026) with shipping containers at Dock and Living Quarters. By Season 2, their takeover is complete: ~5 POIs are architecturally renovated with modern Guild aesthetics, the Turbine sulfur-extraction facility is operational, and NOVA 7 gas experiments have begun (triggering infil gas explosions).
NOVA 7 gas explosions triggered by Guild experiments can engulf one or more POIs at match start during the infil sequence. Affected areas are temporarily inaccessible until gas clears. During your drop, visually check for gas clouds at your target landing zone and redirect to an adjacent POI if necessary. The explosions are temporary: affected POIs become available again mid-match.
