WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter Guide

Let's get one thing straight. The Havoc Demon Hunter class overview in WoW Midnight is not going to comfort you with phrases like "fun and engaging." It is a Chaos Strike-spamming, demon-form-obsessed, fury-gobbling spec that demands you juggle roughly seventeen cooldowns with the grace of someone who absolutely did not just facepull a pack. And yet, somehow, when you nail the burst window? You feel like a god. A very broken, very green, very aggressive god.

In Midnight, Havoc Demon Hunter lands in the Havoc Demon Hunter Midnight expansion with a revamped kit. The most notable changes: Blade Dance now passively procs Glaive Tempest when it hits three or more targets (no more wasting a keybind on it), Fury generation has been tightened: Demon Blades is now baseline and buffed by 20%: and the spec received three new capstone talents that change how you interact with Metamorphosis. Netherwalk is gone. Good riddance, coward button.

Strengths

  • Explosive burst every 20 seconds via Demonic windows
  • Exceptional mobility with Fel Rush and Vengeful Retreat
  • Strong self-sustain via Soul Rending and Soul Fragments
  • Excellent AoE burst with Fel-Scarred Hero Tree
  • Highly mobile: practically allergic to standing still

Weaknesses

  • Punishing if burst windows are fumbled
  • Melee range dependency hurts on certain boss encounters
  • Fury can feel scarce in Midnight: poor Fury management = dead DPS
  • Moderate ramp time on Demonic windows
  • No raid utility beyond Darkness and an interrupt

The Havoc Demon Hunter Midnight expansion experience revolves around one obsession: demon form. Everything feeds it, everything benefits from it, and your entire job is to make sure every entry into that form is as catastrophically rude to the boss as humanly possible. How to play Havoc Demon Hunter in WoW Midnight, in one sentence: press your cooldowns in the right order, generate Fury between windows, and do not move during Eye Beam. You will move during Eye Beam. We know.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter Talent Builds

Havoc Demon Hunter talent builds in Midnight are shaped by one dominant truth: Fel-Scarred is the better Hero Tree in virtually every scenario. Aldrachi Reaver is not dead: it is just undertuned to the point where it sulks in the corner while Fel-Scarred takes all the kill shots. Both trees share the Apex Talent, Eternal Hunt, which transforms The Hunt into a proper 1-minute burst cooldown that empowers your next Eye Beam by 100%. All four points are mandatory in every build. No exceptions. Stop asking.

Fel-Scarred: Recommended for Most Content

Fel-Scarred is built around maximizing every entry into demon form. When you enter Metamorphosis: either through casting it or via Demonic: your first Annihilation and Death Sweep trigger Demonsurge, dealing massive AoE Chaos damage. Full Metamorphosis also empowers Eye Beam into Abyssal Gaze and Immolation Aura into Consuming Fire, both of which also trigger Demonsurge on first cast. It's an explosion of explosions. Beautiful. Irresponsible. Correct.

Key Fel-Scarred Talents

  • Demonic: Eye Beam triggers 5 seconds of demon form. The cornerstone of every burst window.
  • Chaotic Transformation: Resets Eye Beam and Blade Dance on Metamorphosis cast. Pick this over Inner Demon. Always.
  • Cycle of Hatred: Brings Eye Beam to a 20-second burst cycle. This is why Havoc can sustain damage, not just explode once per encounter.
  • Shattered Destiny: Extends demon form based on Fury spent. Rewarding for those who do not waste their Fury like it's on clearance.
  • Demonic Resilience: Grants a second charge of Blur. A survival improvement so good it almost makes up for losing Netherwalk.
  • Monster Rising / Enduring Torment: Passive damage bonuses that ensure you are not completely useless outside of Demonic windows.

Aldrachi Reaver: Niche Funnel Build

The Aldrachi Reaver build in Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter talent builds revolves around Reaver's Glaive, which is generated by consuming six Soul Fragments or by casting The Hunt. It empowers your next Chaos Strike and Blade Dance, applying Reaver's Mark which causes your Physical damage to partially duplicate as Chaos damage onto the marked target. In theory: excellent priority target damage. In practice: slightly awkward and noticeably undertuned. Good for Mythic+ where you have one specific target that needs to die faster than everyone else. Anywhere else, Fel-Scarred beats it without breaking a sweat.

All four points of the Eternal Hunt Apex Talent are mandatory in every build. The Hunt becomes a 60-second burst cooldown that lines up with Metamorphosis naturally and doubles Eye Beam damage on its follow-up cast. If you are not taking all four points, you are wrong.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter Raid Rotation & Burst Cooldown Alignment

The Havoc Demon Hunter rotation in Midnight is, charitably, a "priority system." It is, less charitably, a sequence of nervous decisions you make every 20 seconds while praying you have enough Fury for two Death Sweeps. The goal is to maximize damage inside demon form: particularly the Demonic windows from Eye Beam: while not letting your Fury evaporate into nothing between those windows. Havoc burst cooldown alignment in Midnight is the difference between top-5 and someone whispering "bro you need to sim."

Pre-Pull Checklist

  • Prepot (Agility potion) timed for the pull.
  • Immolation Aura cast as you walk into range: do not waste the Fury from it.
  • Ensure Felblade is off cooldown for the opener.
  • Have your on-use trinket macroed with Metamorphosis. If you do not, enjoy leaving DPS on the floor.

Fel-Scarred Opener Sequence

  1. Immolation Aura before the pull to build Fury.
  2. The Hunt: triggers Eternal Hunt, empowering your next Eye Beam.
  3. Felblade: with Inertia ready, this triggers the 18% damage increase.
  4. Eye Beam: enters demon form via Demonic, at 100% increased damage from Eternal Hunt.
  5. Death Sweep × 2 (via Eternal Hunt reset on Blade Dance).
  6. Annihilation: consumes Demonsurge.
  7. Essence Break: cast while in Metamorphosis to multiply follow-up damage.
  8. Metamorphosis: drop it after Eye Beam for maximum empowered abilities.
  9. Abyssal Gaze + Consuming Fire (empowered during Meta): both trigger additional Demonsurge.

Do NOT cast Metamorphosis if Eye Beam has less than 10 seconds remaining on cooldown. Wait for it. Eye Beam into Meta is significantly stronger than Meta alone because Chaotic Transformation resets Eye Beam immediately, letting you back-to-back the empowered version for free.

Sustained Rotation Priority

  1. Felblade to trigger Inertia (if talented)
  2. The Hunt on cooldown (60-second window with Apex talent)
  3. Eye Beam every ~20 seconds via Cycle of Hatred: core damage event
  4. Essence Break inside demon form only
  5. Death Sweep / Blade Dance: always on cooldown
  6. Immolation Aura: never cap at 2 charges
  7. Annihilation / Chaos Strike: Fury dump filler
  8. Fel Rush: emergency filler only, do not waste charges

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter AoE Rotation

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter AoE rotation is where Fel-Scarred truly gets to be smug. The spec delivers explosive burst AoE every 20 seconds through the Demonic window, and in Midnight, Demonsurge now deals Chaos damage: which means Mastery scales it. This is not a coincidence. Mastery: Demonic Presence loves you when you are committing mass chaos damage at scale.

The AoE priority is largely the same as single-target, with two key adjustments: you prioritize Death Sweep even more aggressively (it hits everything in melee range and triggers Glaive Tempest passively when hitting 3+ targets), and Immolation Aura becomes significantly more important: never sit at two charges, and always burn them before Metamorphosis since Meta refunds the charges.

Havoc AoE Priority (3+ Targets)

  1. Death Sweep: hits all enemies in range, Glaive Tempest procs automatically at 3+ targets
  2. Eye Beam: AoE beam + Demonic trigger, every 20 seconds
  3. Immolation Aura: never cap, high AoE DoT value
  4. Essence Break: AoE damage bonus inside Demonic window
  5. The Hunt: AoE DoT hits up to 5 enemies (7 with Apex rank 2-3)
  6. Annihilation: Demonsurge trigger, lower priority vs. above
  7. Chaos Strike: single-target filler only, drop when targets exceed 3

Do not cast Chaos Strike in AoE. Just stop. It does nothing useful when you could be hitting six targets with Death Sweep. Chaos Strike single target priority in Midnight exists: but AoE is not the place for it.

Havoc Demon Hunter Single Target Priority: Midnight

Havoc single target priority in Midnight is a Fury economy problem wearing the costume of a combat rotation. You must sustain Fury generation between burst windows without capping: which wastes potential Chaos Strike casts: while keeping Blade Dance on strict cooldown because Eternal Hunt rank 4 means a fully channeled Eye Beam gives you a free Blade Dance reset. Let that chain break and you have wasted the entire Apex investment.

Fury Generators (Priority Order)

  • Demon Blades (passive, baseline): auto-attacks generate Fury. Stop canceling your swings.
  • Felblade: 15 Fury on a ~15-second cooldown. Charge target, gain Fury, look cool doing it.
  • Immolation Aura: 20 Fury over its 6-second duration.

Fury Spenders (Priority Order)

Shattered Destiny extends demon form based on Fury spent. Dying with 120 Fury while in Demonic because you were "saving it" is a personality defect. Spend it. Extend the window. Kill the boss.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter Stat Priority

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter stat priority has shifted following the stat squish. Agility is dramatically more valuable than it was in prior expansions, meaning item level is king again: stop hoarding lower-ilvl pieces for two secondary stats you convinced yourself were BiS. The Know Your Enemy talent converts Critical Strike Chance into bonus Critical Strike damage at a fixed rate, creating a multiplicative relationship with Crit that pushes it firmly above the competition.

Stat

Why You Want It

Why You Can Ignore It Sometimes

Agility

Primary stat. Scales everything. Upgrade item level when possible.

You cannot ignore it. Move on.

Critical Strike

Know Your Enemy makes Crit Chance multiply as bonus Crit damage. Insane scaling.

Diminishing returns past very high Crit percentages.

Mastery

Increases all Chaos damage. Demonsurge is Chaos. Everything you care about is Chaos.

Very close to Crit in value: sim your own character to settle the argument.

Haste

Reduces GCD, speeds autos, lowers Blade Dance cooldown slightly.

Eye Beam CD is not reduced by Haste anymore. Major value loss vs. prior expansions.

Versatility

Flat damage and damage reduction. Harmless.

Harmless is not a selling point. Avoid actively pursuing it.

For gems: stack Critical Strike or Mastery depending on your current gear ratios. The Midnight gem system includes built-in sockets on certain slots, so double-dip on your best secondary wherever possible. Sim. Use Raidbots. Stop asking your guild's Warrior for stat advice.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter BiS Gear

Havoc Demon Hunter BiS gear in Midnight Season 1 follows a straightforward philosophy: Agility drives the bus, and secondaries are the passengers you try to choose carefully. The Tier Set 4-piece grants 6% additional Haste during Metamorphosis: fine, not transformative, but Haste during Meta has some value since you are spending Fury aggressively in that window. The 2-piece is solid. You still want the full set because tier bonuses compound over time.

Upgrade Priority

Spend your upgrade currency wisely. The correct order: Weapon (Mainhand) → Trinkets → Helmet/Chest/Legs → Shoulders/Gloves/Belt/Boots. Do not upgrade your bracers first. Someone always upgrades their bracers first.

Best Havoc Demon Hunter Trinkets: WoW Midnight

Best Havoc Demon Hunter trinkets in WoW Midnight follow a simple pairing philosophy: one on-use trinket aligned with Metamorphosis, one strong passive proc. Havoc's Know Your Enemy talent means Critical Strike and primary stat proc effects both scale with ridiculous efficiency, so you want trinkets that feed those systems. Passive sustain garbage is a waste of a slot: both your trinket slots should be working harder than you are.

Havoc Demon Hunter Mythic+ Build: WoW Midnight

The Havoc Demon Hunter Mythic+ build in WoW Midnight is where the spec genuinely shines with minimal apology. Fel-Scarred delivers explosive burst AoE every 20 seconds through the Demonic window, which maps perfectly onto the rhythm of Mythic+ dungeon pulls: big pull, explode everything, move to next pack, repeat until the timer stops screaming. The spec's mobility via Fel Rush and Vengeful Retreat means you can actually traverse the dungeon without your entire party waiting for you. Revolutionary concept.

Talent Adjustments for Mythic+

  • Demon Muzzle: interrupting with Disrupt now applies a magic damage reduction. This is legitimately useful in Mythic+ and worth knowing. Actually interrupt things.
  • Burn It Out / Soul Cleanse: choice node that lets you remove Curse or Disease effects through Immolation Aura. Context-dependent per dungeon.
  • Glaive Tempest (Capstone): powerful passive AoE proc when Blade Dance hits 3+ targets. Consider carefully since it costs a bottom gate talent slot in single-target situations.
  • Wings of Wrath / Long Night / Pitch Black: new capstones for the Demon Hunter class tree. Evaluate per dungeon affixes and boss mechanics.

Fel-Scarred is recommended over Aldrachi Reaver in Mythic+. Aldrachi Reaver has strong funnel damage on priority targets, which is situationally useful, but Fel-Scarred's burst AoE profile is more consistently valuable across the wide variety of pull sizes a Mythic+ dungeon demands.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter Raid Rotation

In raid, the WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter raid rotation simplifies slightly: you are almost always dealing with a single target or light cleave, which is where Fel-Scarred's sustained 20-second burst cycle proves its value. Your kill window aligns with raid cooldowns every 2 minutes when you pop Metamorphosis, and every minute when The Hunt comes up. Coordinate with your raid leader. Tell them what you have. They will ignore you. Do it anyway.

Raid-Specific Adjustments

  • Maintain Shattered Destiny uptime: in single-target, spending Fury during demon form is the primary driver of damage. You must hit things. Continuously. In melee range.
  • Align your Metamorphosis with Bloodlust / Heroism when it is being called. Your Apex windows during Lust are catastrophically strong.
  • In heavy AoE phases (adds), switch to AoE priority instantly. Havoc Demon Hunter AoE rotation takes over the moment three or more targets are present.
  • Use Blur on mechanics that would otherwise require you to stop attacking. 35% damage reduction for 10 seconds is not a panic button: use it proactively.
  • Collective Anguish becomes relevant in specific very heavy AoE phases. If your raid comp has more AoE than single-target requirements, factor this into build choices alongside Shattered Destiny on that choice node.

Season 1 Midnight raids include The Voidspire and Manaforge Omega, with The March on Quel'Danas available later in the season. Keep your Fel-Scarred build tuned for the current tier set and trinket availability from each raid, as the optimal pairing evolves week by week. Sim it. Use Raidbots. We cannot stress this enough.

Havoc Demon Hunter PvP Guide: Midnight & Arena Build

The Havoc Demon Hunter PvP guide for Midnight is the section where we acknowledge the spec's greatest strength and most humiliating limitation simultaneously. The strength: Havoc is an absolute menace on targets. Relentless pressure, short burst cycles, mobility that makes melee-unfriendly healers question their life choices. The limitation: you are in melee range. Always. If a Mage decides you are not allowed within 15 yards of them and they have any idea what they are doing, your night is going to be long and fruitless.

The Havoc Demon Hunter arena build in WoW Midnight splits into two distinct philosophies: Aldrachi Reaver for consistent pressure and Fel-Scarred for explosive burst during Metamorphosis windows. The Aldrachi arena build revolves around Reaver's Glaive to maintain perpetual Reaver's Mark application, making all your Physical damage duplicate as Chaos through Wounded Quarry. This makes you a sustained pressure machine that is difficult to ignore and expensive to heal against. The Fel-Scarred arena build sacrifices that consistent pressure for windows of violence during Meta that are frankly unreasonable.

PvP Stat Priority

  • Versatility: King of PvP stats. Increases damage dealt and reduces damage taken. Both matter when people are trying to kill you specifically.
  • Mastery (Demonic Presence): Increases Chaos damage and movement speed. Movement speed in PvP is not a luxury, it is a survival mechanism.
  • Haste: More frequent ability usage during burst windows. More casts = more chaos.
  • Critical Strike: Last priority in PvP, though it still provides burst potential.

Aldrachi Reaver Arena Burst Sequence

  1. Reaver's Glaive: empowers next Chaos Strike and Blade Dance
  2. Eye Beam: enters demon form
  3. Annihilation: first Reaver's Glaive proc
  4. Death Sweep: final Reaver's Glaive proc (20% bonus damage on Death Sweep requires Chaos Strike before it)
  5. Death Sweep again
  6. Metamorphosis
  7. Death Sweep → Eye Beam extension from Demonic
  8. Annihilation × 2 → Death Sweep

Defensive Usage in PvP

  • Blur: 35% damage reduction for 10 seconds, 2 charges. Use the first charge when your healer is CC'd. Use the second charge when you are also being ignored by your healer while full health.
  • Desperate Instincts (passive): additional 10% damage reduction when below 35% HP. Do not rely on it as a backup plan; it is a safety net, not a strategy.
  • Soul Rending: sustain via Soul Fragments during Leech. Essential for surviving pressure when your healer is occupied.

Do not engage without your healer's setup. Havoc burst is devastating when the enemy healer is CC'd. Bursting into a full health enemy with a live healer and no coordination is how you waste every cooldown simultaneously. The spec is aggressive; the player must be patient. The irony is intentional.

Havoc Demon Hunter Best Professions: Midnight

Havoc Demon Hunter best professions in Midnight depend entirely on whether you want to make gold, gear yourself faster, or feel the smug satisfaction of self-sufficiency. The crafting system in Midnight still rewards players who can produce their own high-item-level gear using Sparks of Radiance, so professions that feed into that loop have genuine endgame value beyond the novelty of "I made this myself."

Profession

Priority

Reason

Leatherworking

S-Tier

Crafts Havoc's leather armor slots. Embellishments are applied to crafted gear: Leatherworking gives direct access to your own BiS crafted pieces without paying the Auction House a tithe.

Jewelcrafting

A-Tier

Crafts gems for your sockets. In Midnight, sockets are mandatory and gem quality matters. Making your own Crit and Mastery gems is both profitable and efficient.

Enchanting

A-Tier

Self-enchanting removes a gold sink from every upgrade. Ring enchants alone make this valuable, and disenchanting gear provides materials for further crafts.

Alchemy

B-Tier

Potions and flasks on demand. Extends their duration with Alchemist Stone. Useful if you raid seriously. Less impactful than the crafting professions above.

The honest recommendation: Leatherworking + Jewelcrafting if you want gear progression leverage. Leatherworking + Enchanting if you want to reduce ongoing consumable costs. Pick two and do not spread yourself thin. The Demon Hunter is already doing too many things at once: your profession choices should not be one of them.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter Raid Rotation

Havoc Demon Hunter Macros and Addons: WoW Midnight

Havoc Demon Hunter macros and addons in WoW Midnight come with an important caveat: Midnight launched with significantly reduced addon functionality. Many tools that were staple recommendations in prior expansions no longer function. The addon ecosystem is rebuilding. We are not recommending addons that currently do not work: that would be generous to a fault, and we are not that generous.

As of Midnight's launch, many UI enhancement addons (particularly those that interact with combat data in real-time) are restricted. Blizzard has signaled this is an ongoing adjustment, not a permanent state. Check the current status of any addon on CurseForge before installing: your 2023 WeakAuras pack is almost certainly broken and will remain that way until authors update it.

Essential Macros

Metamorphosis + On-Use Trinket macro: align your on-use trinket with Metamorphosis so you do not fumble two separate keybinds during the most important cast of your rotation:

#showtooltip Metamorphosis /use 13 /cast Metamorphosis

The Hunt + Eye Beam combined macro: for players who want to chain the Eternal Hunt empowerment into Eye Beam immediately without losing a GCD to navigation:

#showtooltip The Hunt /cast The Hunt /cast Eye Beam

Blur as a self-cast mouseover macro: never accidentally cast Blur on cooldown when you are at full health in a moment of panic:

#showtooltip Blur /cast [@player] Blur

Felblade + Inertia alignment note: Felblade triggers Inertia (if talented) and should be immediately followed by Eye Beam. Some players macro these on a castsequence, but given the variable nature of Felblade's availability, manual pressing with awareness is generally more reliable than a castsequence that desyncs on a missed Felblade.

Recommended Addons (Where Functional)

  • WeakAuras 2: track Fury, demon form duration, Demonsurge procs, and Eternal Hunt status. Import community strings from Wago.io specific to Midnight Havoc as they become available. Do not import strings from prior expansions and assume they work.
  • Details! Damage Meter: see what you are actually doing versus what you think you are doing. These are usually different numbers. The correct number is usually lower than you hoped.
  • BigWigs / LittleWigs: boss timer addons for aligning your Metamorphosis with specific encounter phases in raid. Guessing the pull timer is not a rotation strategy.
  • OmniCC: cooldown numbers on your ability icons. If you do not know how long until Metamorphosis comes up, you are flying blind. Stop flying blind.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter DPS Optimization

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter DPS optimization comes down to three pillars that the spec absolutely requires you to respect, and one mistake that will cost you more damage than everything else combined. Do not move during Eye Beam. Write it on your monitor. Tattoo it somewhere visible. Tell your cat. Canceling Eye Beam ruins the Demonic trigger, wastes the Eternal Hunt empowerment, and makes your entire burst window collapse like a badly shuffled deck of cards. The single most significant DPS improvement most Havoc players can make is completing their Eye Beam channels. Everything else is secondary.

The Three Pillars of Havoc DPS Optimization

Pillar 1: Fury Economy

Never cap Fury. Never deplete it entirely before a burst window. The ideal state is entering your Demonic window with 80-100 Fury so Shattered Destiny has fuel to extend demon form. The worst state is entering the window with 20 Fury, casting two abilities, then standing there waiting while your demon form expires and the Raid Lead writes a very pointed message in Discord.

Pillar 2: Cooldown Synchronization

Your burst cooldowns stack. The Hunt into Eye Beam into Metamorphosis into on-use trinket is dramatically stronger than using each of these independently. The 2-minute Meta lines up with the 1-minute Hunt every two minutes. Your 20-second Eye Beam windows line up with Meta every time you press it. Plan these. Do not just press them when they light up.

Pillar 3: Positioning

You are melee. You need to be on the boss. Havoc has the mobility to solve most positioning problems: Fel Rush and Vengeful Retreat move you faster than your movement keys. Use them to navigate mechanics without losing uptime. Standing away from the boss for 3 seconds is a DPS loss that no amount of Mastery can compensate for.

Simulation Tools

  • Use Raidbots (raidbots.com) for Top Gear and gear comparison. Sim your actual character, not a theoretical profile from a guide. Including this one.
  • SimulationCraft APL for Havoc is maintained by the community. If you disagree with the rotation priority in this guide, sim it and prove it. That is how the game is played at optimization level.
  • Warcraft Logs: review your own logs after raid. Look at your Eye Beam uptime. Look at your Fury waste. Suffer accordingly. Improve.

WoW Midnight Havoc Demon Hunter Guide FAQ

Is Havoc Demon Hunter good in WoW Midnight?

Yes. Strong burst AoE, respectable single-target, and top-tier mobility make it a consistent performer in both Mythic+ and raid.

Which Hero Tree is better for Havoc: Fel-Scarred or Aldrachi Reaver?

Fel-Scarred wins in almost all situations. Aldrachi Reaver has a niche in funnel-heavy Mythic+ priority target scenarios.

What is the biggest mistake Havoc players make in Midnight?

Canceling Eye Beam early by moving. Every canceled channel ruins your Demonic window, Eternal Hunt empowerment, and Cycle of Hatred stacks simultaneously.

When should I use Metamorphosis during a fight?

After Eye Beam and with Blade Dance on cooldown. Never waste Chaotic Transformation's free reset by pressing Meta before those conditions are met.

Do I need to sim my character or can I just follow the stat priority?

Sim it. Stat priorities are guidelines. Your specific gear combination produces unique results that only simulation can accurately reflect.
