WoW Midnight Leatherworking Guide 1–100
Tired of wiping on Chimaerus? Check out our brutally honest Dreamrift Raid Guide for WoW Midnight. Master tactics, save your raid, & get loot!

This is the place where dreams go to die, Manifestations go to be eaten, and your raid comp goes to argue about who forgot to break the shields in time. If you've cleared Voidspire and thought "wow, that was complex," buckle up. Chimaerus doesn't care about your homework. It will simply eat its own adds and become unkillable while you watch in stunned silence. Let's fix that.
We'll cover everything you need: entrance location, raid composition, trash (spoiler: there isn't any, you're welcome), the boss encounter in excruciating detail, loot, achievements, plot context for the three people who actually read quest text, and a conclusion about why this one-boss raid is both a gift and a World of Warcraft Voidspire help.
The Dreamrift is the boutique single-malt whisky of WoW Midnight raiding: expensive, concentrated, and it hits you harder than expected given how small the bottle is. Unlike every other raid that stretches across a zone and makes you kill six to twelve things before the good boss, Dreamrift respects your time by having exactly one boss. Chimaerus, the Undreamt God, an eldritch nightmare entity that grew fat and horrible inside the Rift of Aln after Aln'hara was ripped from her Cradle and left nothing behind but chaos and hungry manifestations for this thing to devour. Cozy!
The raid sits alongside Voidspire in the Season 1 lineup and opens its doors on March 17, 2026 for Normal, Heroic, and Raid Finder. Mythic follows on March 24, 2026, which is when you find out whether your guild is actually as good as everyone claims in Discord.

Finding the Dreamrift is either trivially easy or humbling, depending on how well you read. The raid is located in Harandar, one of the new zones introduced in Midnight. The entrance sits at coordinates 61.0, 64.2 at the lowest ground level of the Rift of Aln. If you're confused, you haven't gone down far enough. Keep descending. The zone essentially funnels you toward it like gravity and shame are working together with World of Warcraft The Dreamrift raid.
|
Navigation Method |
Directions |
|
From The Den (zone capital) |
Fly southeast. Follow the instability. You'll know it when the ground starts looking wrong and your mount gets uncomfortable. |
|
From Har'athir village |
Closest external flight point. Head inward and descend. The portal awaits at the bottom like a responsible nightmare. |
|
Both routes |
Equidistant from the entrance, because Blizzard's zone team was being weirdly fair about it. |
Pro Tip: There is no trash at the entrance. You walk in, you fight Chimaerus. If you're stalling at the entrance "buffing up," your raid already has problems.
Since this is a single-boss encounter with brutal add management across two realms, your composition isn't about covering six different boss flavors: it's about having enough interrupts, enough burst AoE, and enough humans who can follow a target priority list without guidance every 30 seconds. The fight lives and dies on Alnsight management, so classes that can move, switch targets quickly, and handle spatial awareness do better than turrets who need to stand still to breathe.
Interrupt Roster: Haunting Essence mobs cast Fearsome Cry and Essence Bolt. Both are interruptible. Bring interrupts. Assign them. Use them. This is not a suggestion.
There are no trash mobs in The Dreamrift. You enter the instance and immediately find Chimaerus. This is either the greatest design decision of the season or a warning sign that the single boss you do fight is doing the work of twelve. The answer, as you'll discover on your fifth wipe, is the latter.
Enjoy the peaceful walk to the boss. Cherish it. It's the last calm moment you will experience this lockout.
Chimaerus, the Undreamt God is what happens when you leave a Void-adjacent pocket dimension alone for too long. It ate everything around it, became the apex predator of a collapsing dream realm, and now it wants to eat your raid too. Specifically, it wants to eat the Manifestations it spawns, and the entire fight is structured around you stopping it from doing that.
The encounter is a two-phase fight. Phase 1 (Insatiable Hunger) is the sustained management loop where Manifestations enter from the Rift and must be killed before reaching Chimaerus. Phase 2 (To The Skies) triggers when the boss reaches 100 energy: Chimaerus takes flight, unleashes heavy raid damage, and the Manifestation problem continues from the air. The phase ends with Corrupted Devastation and a Ravenous Dive that consumes every remaining Manifestation on the ground instantly. Whatever adds are alive at that moment, Chimaerus eats: and permanently gains damage and healing for each one. Congratulations if you left six of them up. Really stellar work.
Core Wipe Condition:Cannibalized Essence: each Manifestation Chimaerus consumes heals it for 200–500% of the add's remaining HP and increases its damage by 50% (stacking). On Mythic, it heals for 500%. Two or three stacks of this and your healers are crying. Six stacks and Chimaerus is medically unkillable.
Phase 1 is the marathon you run before the sprint. Chimaerus opens every cycle with Alndust Upheaval: tearing a hole in Reality, hitting the current tank with Physical damage and the raid with split Nature damage. Players hit by this are knocked airborne and gain Alnsight, which wrenches them into the Rift dimension for 40 seconds. While there, they can actually see and attack Manifestations that exist in the Aln. Players without Alnsight cannot see or interact with them. This is the core mechanic: only Alnsight players are doing the real work. Everyone else is baby-sitting the boss and praying for World of Warcraft March on Quel'Danas raid.

Commentary (Sarcastic, But Accurate) |
|
High |
The entry point to the entire fight's mechanic. Miss your Alnsight rotations and you have no one doing Rift work. It's like forgetting to assign healers. |
|
|
Deadly |
The fight-ending combo. Each stack heals Chimaerus and buffs its damage by 50%. This is not theoretical. This is what kills your raid. Every single time. Twice. |
|
|
High |
The wave that spawns the adds and applies Rift Sickness to the raid. Triggers the entire problem. You can't stop it, you can only deal with what follows. Welcome to the Rift. |
|
|
Alnshroud (on Manifestations) |
Extreme |
The shield that keeps adds safe in the Rift until players with Alnsight destroy it. Break it, add comes out. Don't break it before Consume, Chimaerus eats it with HP. The clock is always ticking. |
|
Insatiable (passive) |
Deadly |
Chimaerus' passive ability to consume Manifestations in range in Reality. It does this automatically. It does not ask permission. Every add you let through is a gift to the boss from you personally. |
|
Extreme |
A 10-second channel that culminates in Chimaerus eating everything still alive around it. If your Rift team was slow and adds are still up, this is where the run ends. Grim channel music included. |
|
|
Discordant Roar (Colossal Horror) |
High |
Armor-ignoring raid damage that stacks and escalates. The Colossal Horror uses this repeatedly. Each cast is louder and more expensive than the last. It's like a subscription service you didn't want. |
|
Fearsome Cry (Haunting Essence) |
Moderate |
Interruptible fear + DoT. The game literally gives you an interrupt option. Use it or explain to your raid leader why everyone ran off a cliff in fear. |
|
Consuming Miasma (Heroic+) |
High |
A minute-long DoT ticking on several players with an explosive dispel. Heroic mode's way of saying "we assume you read the guide." Dispel away from the group or create a miasma party nobody wanted. |
|
Moderate |
Raid-wide Nature DoT for 12 seconds. Not dramatic. Not exciting. Just constant chip damage reminding you that Chimaerus has terrible manners. |
|
|
Moderate |
Frontal cone bleed + knockback. Face the boss away from the raid. The fact that this needs to be said on every guide for every boss in WoW history suggests some tanks aren't reading guides. |
|
|
Rift Madness (Mythic) |
Extreme |
Mythic only. Players in the Rift go insane, dealing damage to nearby Rift allies and fearing. The only cure is a Reality-side player standing nearby long enough to yank them out. Babysitting, but make it cosmic horror. |
|
Dissonance (Mythic) |
High |
Mythic only. Players periodically damage allies within 8 yards who exist in the opposing realm. Proximity punisher. Spread accordingly. Stop clustering near your Rift-trapped friend. |
When Chimaerus reaches 100 energy, it stops caring about ground-based problems and takes to the air. On Mythic, it helpfully casts one final Alndust Upheaval before ascending, because it wants to make sure you enter Phase 2 with fresh Rift-displaced players. Thoughtful!
Once airborne, Chimaerus begins Corrupted Devastation: continuous heavy raid damage from above while Manifestations continue to spawn below and need to be handled on the ground. The phase ends with Ravenous Dive: Chimaerus descends and instantly devours every living Manifestation in the arena. Each add consumed is another stack of Cannibalized Essence. If your Rift team spent Phase 2 admiring the ceiling view instead of clearing adds, this Dive will end the pull faster than you can whisper "I thought someone else was handling World of Warcraft Sporefall raid."

Commentary |
|
Extreme |
Sustained aerial raid damage throughout the flight phase. Plan healing cooldowns for this window specifically. If you ran them all in Phase 1, good luck, genuinely. |
|
|
Ravenous Dive |
Deadly |
The phase-ending add-vacuum. Chimaerus lands and instantly gains Cannibalized Essence for every Manifestation still alive. This moment has ended more runs than any other. Treat every surviving add as a personal failure and act accordingly in Phase 2. |
|
Alndust Upheaval (Mythic, pre-flight) |
High |
Mythic-exclusive final upheaval before the boss ascends. Ensures your most prepared players are mid-Rift when the aerial chaos begins. An act of spite, architecturally speaking. |
Phase 2 is where your raid-wide defensive cooldowns should land. Corrupted Devastation is consistent heavy damage that overlaps with the continued add problem. The groups that wipe in Phase 2 are the ones who used every cooldown on Caustic Phlegm ticks in Phase 1 because it "felt bad." Learn to feel bad efficiently.
For those three people who care: the Dreamrift exists within the Rift of Aln, a primordial space in Harandar where a being called Aln'hara once shaped reality through dreaming. When Aln'hara was removed from her Cradle: by forces the Midnight storyline will presumably explain at some point: her dreams stopped. What remained was a void of raw chaos, pain, and abandoned Manifestations with nobody to shepherd them.
Chimaerus entered this power vacuum and simply started eating. Manifestations, dream-fragments, void energy: everything. Over time it became the apex predator of the Rift, a being of pure agony and rage that the local Shul'ka haranir have been trying to contain from the outside. They dared not enter the deepest parts of the Rift. You, however, are being asked to go in there and kill it, which is either extremely brave or a sign that the quest design team has a grudge.
The lore basically asks you to treat Chimaerus like a pest control problem, except the pest is an eldritch god made of corrupted dreams who has become functionally immortal by consuming nightmares. Normal Tuesday content.
There aren't many achievements for a one-boss raid. What there is, however, is appropriately prestigious: because there's nowhere to hide poor play when there's only one encounter to judge you on.

What You Actually Need to Do |
|
Defeat Chimaerus on any difficulty. Welcome to the Dreamrift. Please exit through the gift shop. |
|
|
Defeat Chimaerus on Heroic difficulty. Consuming Miasma dispels are now your personality. |
|
|
Defeat Chimaerus on Mythic difficulty. Rift Madness and Dissonance have been added. Your raid leader's voice has reached a new octave you've never heard before. |
|
|
Kill Chimaerus on Mythic before the next raid tier releases. The most prestigious seasonal flex. Comes with the Dream-Eater title, which is the best possible outcome of spending weeks wiping on a one-boss raid. |
The Dreamrift is, depending on your perspective, either a beautiful act of restraint in raid design or a psychologically hostile endurance test disguised as a short clear. One boss. Two phases. An elegant premise: stop the monster from eating its own adds: that immediately becomes a spiral of cascading failure the moment someone mismanages Alnsight rotations, lets three Manifestations walk into the boss, or blows healing cooldowns on the wrong phase.
The good news: it drops chest tier tokens, it's fast when you know what you're doing, and the weekly alt run takes under 45 minutes once your guild has it on farm. The bad news: "once your guild has it on farm" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence, and the first ten wipes are going to feel deeply personal.
Clear Voidspire. Run Dreamrift. Get your chest piece. Survive the Ravenous Dive. Repeat until you either have Cutting Edge or the season ends. That's WoW Midnight Season 1 in its most honest form. Good luck in there: and remember: Chimaerus didn't grow to godhood by being patient. Don't be slower than World of Warcraft dungeon boost.

You'll find it at the lowest ground level of the Rift of Aln in Harandar (coordinates 61.0, 64.2). Just keep descending until the ground looks wrong.
Zero. There is blissfully no trash in this instance. You walk right in and immediately face Chimaerus. Enjoy the short walk while you still can.
It triggers Cannibalized Essence, healing the boss for up to 500% of the add's health and buffing its damage by 50%. This usually causes a wipe.
The tank mechanic, Alndust Upheaval, gives hit players "Alnsight." Only players shifted into the Rift dimension via Alnsight can see and kill the shielded Manifestations.
Chimaerus drops the chest slot tier token across all difficulties. Since it's a one-boss raid, you either get your chest piece here or leave empty-handed.
