WoW 12.0.7 Invasion World Bosses Guide

This guide covers everything you need to kill both bosses, unlock Heroic World Tier, grab the loot, and move on with whatever remains of your evening. No lore paragraphs about Dath'remar's feelings. You're welcome.

The Two Zones

Naigtal

A fungal, arcane-saturated former Legion world now colonized by the ethereal Hal'hadar. Think mushrooms, void energy, and the persistent sense that the whole place resents you. Ties thematically into the Sporefall raid — because one fungal nightmare clearly wasn't enough this patch.

Val

An icy Legion wasteland now claimed by the Domanaar under Imperator Pertinax. The Legion abandoned this frozen hellscape. Pertinax looked at it and thought, "perfect headquarters." That alone tells you everything about his judgment, and exactly how the fight ends.

Both zones share the same activity loop: world quests, rare enemies, zone events, and a world boss at the top. The Patch 12.0.7 Naigtal Val world bosses sit behind a short introductory quest chain accessible from the Screaming Ridge in the Voidstorm (coordinates 51.42, 71.30). Yes, you have to do the quests. No, there is no skip. This is Blizzard.

The Bosses

Naigtal: Nexus-Captain Leth'ir & Adjutant Mertei

Nexus-Captain Leth'ir commands the Hal'hadar operation on Naigtal and is the boss you are actually required to kill to unlock Heroic World Tier. She arrives with her second-in-command, Adjutant Mertei, and a standing army of Hal'hadar troops — because arriving alone would apparently be too dignified. The Adjutant's Arcane Missiles hit non-tanks without regard for aggro, which is either an intentional design decision or a bug they're calling a feature. Either way, bring a healer.

Val: Imperator Pertinax

Pertinax has established a power base on a frozen world the Legion already threw away. Imperator Pertinax boss fight guide boils down to: he occupies the Void Acropolis on Val, dies when you kill him, and his empire dies with him — as all empires built on real estate someone else abandoned eventually must. The zones on Val include the Void Acropolis, Steam Ravine, and Glacial Reservoir, which is a lot of real estate for someone who's about to lose it all.

Boss Stats at a Glance

Unlike standard world bosses, these drop Bind on Equip gear that converts to Warbound when used — meaning you can trade it on the auction house before equipping it. The one QoL feature this patch. Cherish it.

The how to unlock Heroic World Tier 12.0.7 process is mercifully linear. Kill one world boss on Normal. The achievement fires. Exit the zone. Re-enter through the Heroic tier entrance. That's it. The game does not trust you to find the right door, so the entrance is clearly labeled. Heroic World Tier adds more elites, enemy affixes that modify behavior, substantially higher health pools, and rewards that justify the inconvenience — specifically Hero-track gear.

1. Complete the introductory quest chain in the Voidstorm (Screaming Ridge, 51.42, 71.30).
2. Enter the active zone's Normal World Tier and defeat the world boss. Either Leth'ir or Pertinax counts.
3. Earn the Heroic Tendencies achievement. It will arrive whether you appreciate it or not.
4. Exit the zone completely.
5. Re-enter through the Heroic World Tier entrance — not the Normal one you just left.
6. Suffer appropriately. Collect better loot.

Heroic World Tier: Affixes

On Heroic, enemies gain WoW Heroic World Tier affixes Midnight modifiers that function similarly to Mythic+ affixes — random behavior changes that make encounters more dangerous. This is not a cosmetic slider. The bosses share a combined 76 million health pool on Heroic and arrive with their full affix suite active. Players who decided Heroic "sounded optional" and then complained about missing rewards are, statistically, reading this sentence right now.

• Enemies have increased damage and health relative to Normal.
• Random affixes alter mob behavior — expect movement-punishing effects, damage spikes, and mechanics that don't care how tired you are.
• Adjutant Mertei's Arcane Missiles still ignore aggro. This does not improve on Heroic.
• Storms can appear in both zones; dissipating 5 of them earns zone-specific Heroic achievements.
• Defeating 10 affix-modified creatures earns the Heroic: Power Creep achievement. The irony of the name is intentional or accidental — either way, earned.

The meta achievement Heroic Showdowns currently has no listed criteria on PTR — par for the course — but the Void-Tortured Gorger mount reward appears in the mount journal tied to it. A gorger both the Domanaar and ethereals tried to cage and failed to hold. It is now soaked in Void energy and yours for a moderate quantity of inconvenience.

PTR data contains strings for a Mythic World Tier. Nothing active in-game confirms it for 12.0.7 launch. File under "coming soon" or "never" depending on your Blizzard confidence level.

Loot

These bosses are not in the dungeon journal, do not follow standard world boss rules, and drop gear slightly better than existing world bosses — Champion track BoE gear world boss 12.0.7 — at 3/6 Champion on Normal, upgrading to Hero-track on Heroic. All items are Bind on Equip and convert to Warbound when used, meaning the auction house is open for business. Sell before equipping. Your future altoholic self sends regards.
