The WoW Children's Week event 2026 runs from April 27 to May 4. You do not need to be a specific faction or level beyond 10 to participate in the base quests. You do, however, need to be alive, which disqualifies at least one demographic that routinely wanders into the wrong raid.
The event spans multiple expansions worth of content. You can run orphan quest chains in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, Shattrath City, Northrend Dalaran, Dazar'alor, and Dornogal. Each chain rewards a pet. Most pets are now also purchasable from event vendors for one Well-loved Figurine each, because Blizzard finally accepted that not everyone has seven alts.
If you are diving into the WoW Midnight 2026 update, the biggest environmental shift this year is the updated location. The event has officially expanded to the reimagined Silvermoon City Quel'Thalas. You'll find the brand-new Children's Week vendor standing right next to the Holiday Enthusiast, strategically wedged between the Auction House and the Trading Post.
Forget the old way of doing things. The major mechanical innovation this year revolves around the Well-loved Figurine WoW currency. Instead of just picking a companion pet at the end of a questline, you now earn this figurine. It is Warbound, takes up a bag slot, is strictly redeemable during the event, and will permanently vanish when the holiday concludes. On top of that, knocking out select Traveler's Log Children's Week activities with your protégé will actually help fill up your monthly bar.
If you're hunting for Children's Week new rewards, the absolute standout is the World of Warcraft Nap Mat toy. Purchased with your new figurine, it summons an interactable mat that lets your character catch a quick snooze. Also, if you were wondering how to get Legs pet WoW or Scooter the Snail after they inexplicably went missing last year, Blizzard fixed it—they have been added back to the vendor for one figurine each.
To begin, head to the Orgrimmar Orphanage in the Valley of Honor (The Drag) and speak to Orphan Matron Battlewail. Accept the Children's Week quest. You will receive the Orcish Orphan Whistle. Blow it. Congratulations, you now have a small orcish child following you around. His name is Grunth. He is enthusiastic. He will not stop talking. You are responsible for him.
This is the Horde Children's Week quest chain, and it is: like all children: louder than expected and more work than advertised.
Complete all three of the following simultaneously. There is no reason to do them in sequence, though Grunth will pretend there is.
Travel to Azshara and locate the Secret Lab at the southern end of the Rocketway. Board the Redhound Two-Seater prototype at the top of the tower. Do not talk to the goblin: talk to the rocket. If you talk to the goblin, you get a one-seat rocket and no credit, which is the universe's way of suggesting you read quest text. Grunth will immediately attempt to pilot the vehicle. Things will go sideways. He considers this a success.
Take Grunth to the Horde Embassy in Orgrimmar. This is the hub for Allied Race introductions. Grunth will gaze at the assembled delegates of diverse peoples who have pledged loyalty to the Horde and presumably feel very inspired. You will stand there having done this three years in a row wondering if any of them remember you.
Travel to Red Rocks in the northeastern mountains of Mulgore and witness the funeral pyre of Cairne Bloodhoof. Grunth wants to pay tribute to a chieftain who was killed by Garrosh through poisoned treachery. This is, objectively, the most emotionally honest quest in a holiday event. A tauren elder died, the pyre burns, and you watch it with a ten-year-old orphan. Children's Week: delightful. Take the zeppelin from Orgrimmar to Thunder Bluff, then ride south.
After completing all three above, Grunth unlocks two more requests. Both must be completed before the final quest becomes available. Because children always want more.
Head to the Goblin Slums in Orgrimmar, where a goblin mage named Snixx Quickfreeze operates an ice cream stand called Cone of Cold. Purchase a Cone of Cold and share it with Grunth. Mages: your Cone of Cold spell macros may stop functioning while this quest is active. This is either a bug or a deeply personal warning from the game engine.
Find Blax Bottlerocket, a goblin vendor who wanders the Drag in Orgrimmar. Purchase a Dragon Kite 2-Pack and fly it with Grunth. This is, by measurable standards, the simplest quest in the chain. It will still take you eight minutes because Blax Bottlerocket refuses to stand still.
Purchase a Foam Sword Rack from Blax Bottlerocket in the Drag. Return Grunth to Orphan Matron Battlewail. In exchange for the foam weapons and the safe return of the small orcish person who nearly crashed a prototype rocket, you may select one of the following rewards.

Report to Orphan Matron Nightingale in the Cathedral District of Stormwind City and accept the Children's Week quest. You will receive the Human Orphan Whistle. Use it to summon Randis, a small human child who wants to be king of Stormwind when he grows up. Touching. Someone should break that to him gently, but probably not during this questline.
Fly to Sentinel Hill in Westfall and locate Twilber Torquewrench next to the war machines. Board one of the Rental Choppers and tour the Raging Chasm with Randis. He will describe wanting to build his own chopper someday and take all his friends for a ride. He is an orphan in a warzone. This is fine. Everything is fine.
Take Randis to the Stormwind Embassy, north of the Dwarven District. This is the Alliance equivalent of the Horde's diplomatic hub, where Allied Race questlines begin. Randis will observe the assembled peoples of the Alliance and presumably become a more well-rounded individual. Or at least learn geography.
Take the Deeprun Tram from Stormwind to Ironforge. Head to the faction leaders' throne room, then enter the doorway to the southwest leading into Old Ironforge. Randis wants to see the spot where Magni Bronzebeard voluntarily turned himself into diamond to save his people, which worked perfectly until it didn't and he became a Prophet for the Titans instead. Randis thinks this is neat. He is not wrong.
Proceed to the Blue Recluse in the Mage Quarter of Stormwind City. A mage has set up a temporary ice cream parlor called Cone of Cold. Purchase the ice cream and share it with Randis. This is, objectively, the first time in this questline that nothing catastrophic happened to a historical figure.
Find Craggle Wobbletop, a gnome who wanders around the Trade District canals in Stormwind. Buy a Dragon Kite 2-Pack and fly it with Randis. Like its Horde equivalent, this quest is simple and primarily tests your ability to track down a vendor who refuses to stand still. Gnomes.
A Warden of the Alliance
Buy a Foam Sword Rack from Craggle Wobbletop in the Trade District. Return Randis to Orphan Matron Nightingale in the Cathedral District. Collect your reward. Acknowledge, privately, that Randis was a decent kid even if he asked too many questions.

Completing the Orgrimmar or Stormwind orphan questlines rewards you with one of the following: your choice, collected once per year per character. The children's week pet rewards from the vanilla chains are the originals: four companions that have haunted collectors since 2005.

For players who already have everything and want to express this fact financially. |
There is a brand new squad of WoW Midnight new neutral orphans looking for adventure. To get started with the new Khaz Algar crew, you'll need to seek out the Matron in Training Ullna location.

Once you've done the chores and earned your currency, you'll want to find the Jepetto Joybuzz new vendor location in Dornogal to cash in those figurines. Here is exactly what the new Khaz Algar-specific pet lineup looks like:

1 Well-loved Figurine |

The Children's Week vendor system: introduced in 2025: allows players to spend Well-loved Figurines on most event pets and transmog sets. Each item costs exactly one Figurine. Figurines are awarded by completing orphan questlines and selecting them as your reward. The system is account-wide. The math is therefore simple: more questlines, more Figurines, more pets. This is either efficient game design or a conspiracy to make you roll a Blood Elf alt.
Brundia Braidhammer
Stormwind City
/way #84 56.6 54.6
Carries most vendor inventory plus the Alliance weapon set. Stormwind faction. Reliable. Does not wander.
Leial Knitterton
Orgrimmar
/way #85 58.2 57.0
Horde-side vendor. Carries most inventory plus the Orgrimmar weapon set. Presumably knits things when not selling orphan memorabilia.
Jepetto Joybuzz
Dornogal
/way #2339 55.8 26.6
Neutral vendor. Carries both weapon sets. Recommended stop for collectors who have abandoned all faction loyalty in pursuit of transmog completionism.
Warning: Legs and Scooter the Snail (Snail Shell) are not currently available from any vendor. You can only get them from completing the Burning Crusade orphan questlines. Plan accordingly. Or don't. The snail isn't going anywhere fast.

All three vendors carry the same stock, with the noted weapon set exception. Every item costs one Well-loved Figurine. These are the WoW Children's Week rewards available this year.

The meta-achievement For the Children rewards either the Matron or Patron title and contributes to the year-long meta What a Long, Strange Trip It's Been: the achievement responsible for a disturbing percentage of Violet Proto-Drake anxiety every May. Note that School of Hard Knocks was removed from the meta requirements in 2022, which was welcomed universally and never mentioned by Blizzard as loudly as it deserved.
Use your Hearthstone while your orphan is active. The orphan is fine. The orphan has always been fine. The orphan will outlive you.
Complete five daily quests with your orphan summoned. Any five. The orphan is learning what adult responsibility looks like, which is tedious repetition for minor currency.
Consume a list of sugary foods while your orphan watches. These include strawberry ice cream, cupcakes, cakes, brownies, and doughnuts. The child observes. Says nothing. Notes everything.
Obtain one of the Children's Week reward pets by completing an orphan questline. If you already own every pet, this achievement already exists on your account and you are not the target audience of this paragraph.
Defeat King Ymiron in Utgarde Pinnacle with your orphan summoned. Requires level 77 minimum to zone in. The orphan will witness a vrykul king die. He does not visibly care. He has seen things.
Title reward: Completing For the Children unlocks "Matron [Name]" for female characters and "Patron [Name]" for everyone else. Use it aggressively in capital cities until next week when nobody remembers the holiday.
Beyond the base questlines, Children's Week orphan quests exist in multiple other hubs. Shattrath City in Outland offers Salandria (Blood Elf, Horde) and Dornaa (Draenei, Alliance): both available from Orphan Matron Mercy. These are level 60+ chains and reward Burning Crusade pets including Egbert, Peanut, and Sleepy Willy.
Northrend Dalaran hosts Roo (Oracle) and Kekek (Wolvar): two faction-neutral orphans you choose between once per year. Completing their questlines rewards the Curious Oracle Hatchling or the Curious Wolvar Pup. You can only pick one per year on any given character. Choose based on aesthetic loyalty or a coin flip: both are equally valid approaches to long-term planning.
Dornogal hosts four War Within orphans via Matron-in-Training Ullna. These are Skibbles, Destien, Kitzy, and Threadis, each with a multi-step quest tied to locations across Khaz Algar. Completing their chain unlocks the newest batch of pets: Argos, Goggles, and the Helpful Workshop Bot. These orphans were introduced in 2025 and remain the current peak of the event's expansion progression.
Yes. Every quest is completable in a single session. There are no daily lockouts. The entire event is a self-contained sprint, assuming you do not get lost in Old Ironforge.
No. Both factions access all reward pets through the vendor system. Alts help you farm more Figurines faster, but are not required to collect the full set.
Run Azshara, Mulgore, and the Embassy simultaneously. Finish ice cream and kite last. Return Grunth. Elapsed time: twenty minutes if you have a mount and no distractions.
No. It was removed from the meta in May 2022. It still exists as a standalone achievement for players who enjoy suffering on a schedule.
Spend them at Brundia Braidhammer in Stormwind, Leial Knitterton in Orgrimmar, or Jepetto Joybuzz in Dornogal. You earn one per completed questline per character per year.
