MoP Classic Emperor Shaohao Reputation Guide

Emperor Shaohao is Phase 5's prestige reputation, introduced with Patch 5.4's Timeless Isle. There are no gear tiers to unlock, no valor upgrades, and no mandatory power gains attached. It is a vanity grind, start to finish, and Blizzard had the audacity to make it one of the most time-consuming reputation grinds in the expansion. The reward that makes players endure this is the Reins of the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent at Exalted: a cloud serpent mount that quietly signals to every player you pass that you spent a lot of time on a volcanic island killing cattle.

Emperor Shaohao's spirit resides on the Timeless Isle, overseeing the war against the Ordon Yaungol: the same yaungol who made the grave mistake of pledging themselves to a fire demigod named Ordos and burning endlessly for it. Empathy is optional. You will be killing them by the hundreds regardless.

Hard prerequisite: The Ordon Sanctuary and its high-value mobs are phased. Without the legendary cloak from Wrathion's questline on at least one character on your account, the northern half of the isle simply does not exist for you. Do not skip the legendary questline and then wonder why the grind is even slower than advertised.

This is one of the rare MoP Classic reputations that does not offer a Grand Commendation at Revered, meaning your alts will enjoy the exact same suffering as your main. There is no tabard, so dungeons contribute nothing. What you have is one daily quest and a field full of respawning Yaungol. Congratulations on your life choices.

Reputation Thresholds

Reaching Exalted from Neutral requires 42,000 reputation. At a comfortable average of 22 rep per kill with a guild perk active, that is roughly 1,900 kills. The complete Ordon Sanctuary yields approximately 420 reputation per pass, so you are looking at around 100 clears. With optimal group composition and no competition for tags, experienced players report reaching Exalted in roughly 8 hours of focused grinding. Plan accordingly, and perhaps invest in a comfortable chair.

Getting to the Timeless Isle

The Timeless Isle sits off the eastern coast of the Jade Forest. Your first visit begins automatically when you enter your faction's shrine in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms: a Bronze Dragonflight representative hands you a one-use teleport stone like you are a package being delivered to a warzone. After that, flying there directly from the Jade Forest works fine.

The Ordon Sanctuary in the northern section requires you to cross a broken bridge. A character on your account must possess the legendary cloak; the game will pull you across the gap using it. If you are trying to cheat this via a Lock portal or a multi-passenger mount: that method has historically worked, but behavior in the MoP Classic client may vary. Do not build your entire farming strategy around exploiting a gap jump.

There are six quests associated with this faction, collectively worth 1,500 reputation. Pocket them for the final push toward Exalted to avoid suffering through an extra of the Sanctuary.

Strategy: Complete the first three one-time quests on day one. Start doing Path of the Mistwalker daily from that point. Save Drive Back the Flame and the Archiereus quest to turn in when you are at approximately 41,500 rep: the 500 combined rep from those two will push you straight to Exalted without an additional grind session.

The entire farming operation takes place on the Timeless Isle. There are three distinct farming zones, each with a different risk-to-reward ratio. Groups of five are optimal: joining a raid group reduces rep gained, which is Blizzard's way of ensuring you feel every kill.

Cross the broken bridge into the Ordon Sanctuary. Head left along the outer wall, clearing Blazebound Chanters and Champions of the Black Flame as you around Ordos's arena. Continue into the interior chamber holding the High Priests. A full circuit yields approximately 420 reputation. When the Sanctuary respawn timer forces you to wait, rotate down to the Blazing Way and clear Burning Berserkers and Eternal Kilnmasters in the interim. Do not stand in fire. This advice is free.

Rep buffs that actually work: Guild perk Mr. Popularity (5% rep bonus), Darkmoon Faire WHEE! buff (10% rep bonus, lasts 1 hour from the carousel), Human racial Diplomacy (+10% rep). These stack. The Grand Commendation does not exist for this faction, so stack every buff you can find.

Rewards from Mistweaver Ku

Mistweaver Ku stands on the eastern side of the Celestial Court, between Mossgreen Lake and the central courtyard, selling the fruits of your labor in exchange for Timeless Coins. The currency you are farming for rep is also the currency you spend here: a convenient circular economy that ensures you are never quite done with this island.

Note that the 100,000 coin cost for the mount is separate from rep entirely: you need both Exalted standing and the coin stockpile. Fortunately, the Ordon Sanctuary drops Timeless Coins on every kill, so the grinding processes for both requirements overlap. By the time you hit Exalted, you will likely have most of the coin cost accumulated naturally, provided you did not spend everything on Pouch of Timeless Coins along the way.

The core of MoP Classic phase 5 Timeless Isle farming is mindless by design. Here is how to make the most of the time you are spending on it.

• Group size matters. Five players is the sweet spot. A raid group reduces rep gain, and going solo means slower kills and more competition for tags on busy days. Find four people who are equally indifferent to their evening and form a dedicated group.
• Tag everything, loot nothing urgently.Jakur of Ordon, Watcher Osu, and Urdur the Cauterizer are named elites that contribute rep and have a chance at Timeless gear tokens. Tag them when they are up, even mid-circuit.
• Darkmoon Faire timing. The Faire runs the first week of each month. The WHEE! buff lasts one hour from the carousel. Coordinate your main grinding sessions with Faire week. That 10% bonus reduces the total kill count by roughly 170 mobs to Exalted.
• The Blazing Way as a secondary. When the Sanctuary is cleared and respawns are not ready, the path from the Blazing Way up to Three-Breeze Terrace keeps the kills flowing. The Burning Berserkers respawn faster than the Sanctuary elites and provide 15 rep each.
• Hold your quests. Drive Back the Flame and The Archiereus of Flame are one-time quests worth 250 each. Use them to cap out Exalted on a session where you would otherwise need another full Sanctuary.
