SWTOR Wreckage on Dantooine Daily Area Guide (Update 7.9)
SWTOR 7.9 dropped and so did your wallet. Here's every endgame armor set ranked: Rakata 344, Tundra Enforcer, Thyrsian PvP gear: so you stop...

You logged back in after six months, looked at your gear, and felt the cold hand of shame. Good. That feeling means you are ready to read this. The SWTOR best armor sets debate dies here: every endgame option ranked from "run this immediately" to "dismantle for credits and never speak of it again."
7.9 Legacy Reborn shipped June 2, 2026. The gearing ceiling did not move: Rakata 344 purple is still the ceiling, and everything below it is a stepping stone you tolerate, not a destination. Fashion is a different conversation. Broadsword added new Cartel Market cosmetics inspired by The Mandalorian and Grogu and keeps treating the GTN as a second subscription fee.
SWTOR's endgame gear in 7.9 has one path that matters and several detours you will accidentally take. Here is the hierarchy, fastest to most painful to acquire:
|
Tier Name |
Item Rating |
Color |
Verdict |
|
Rakata |
324–344 |
Purple |
Only tier that matters at max progression |
|
Virulent (VM R-4) |
340 |
Purple |
Shortcut to Rakata 342 if you have tokens |
|
Hyde & Zeek Blue |
340 |
Blue |
Best solo path; statistically identical to purple 340 |
|
Thyrsian (PvP) |
322–336 |
Green–Purple |
Capped in PvP, irrelevant in PvE |
|
Tionese / Columi |
324–340 |
Green–Blue |
Vendor filler; replace immediately |
Key fact: A blue 340 item from Hyde & Zeek and a purple 340 Rakata item have identical stats. The purple is only better when upgraded past 340. Stop chasing color, start chasing rating.

Ranked on endgame viability. Cosmetics judged separately below.
|
Tier |
Set / Gear |
How to Get |
|
S |
Rakata 344 (purple) |
Best in slot. Undisputed. ~600 OP-1 Catalysts per piece from scratch. Painful. Worth it. |
|
A |
Hyde & Zeek Blue 340 |
Statistically a purple 340. Solo-friendly. Absolutely no excuse not to have this on every character. |
|
A |
VM R-4 Virulent 340 (purple) |
Converts to Rakata 342. Excellent shortcut if you have VM tokens rotting in your currency tab. |
|
B |
Rakata 324–338 (mid-upgrade) |
You are on the road to S. Do not stop here voluntarily. |
|
B |
Thyrsian PvP Purple 336 |
Capped in warzones so gear-gap is irrelevant there. Useless in operations. Fine if PvP is your thing. |
|
C |
SM R-4 Anomaly gear (332) |
Useful only if you enjoy the cosmetic shell. Functionally skip it and go straight to Hyde & Zeek. |
|
D |
Tionese / Columi drops |
You will wear this for approximately eight minutes before replacing it. Do not read tooltips. Just replace it. |
Most guides bury the priority order under twenty paragraphs. Here it is. The SWTOR endgame gearing guide nobody writes short enough to be useful:
Currency cheat sheet: Conquest Commendations convert to OP-1 Catalysts. FP-1 Stabilizers also convert. WZ-1 Accelerants do NOT convert: PvP gear stays in its own lane by design.
SWTOR's Outfit Designer lets you look like anything while wearing statistically correct garbage underneath. This is not a flaw. This is the feature. Use it. The SWTOR Outfit Designer guide logic is simple: your stats live in your gear slots, your dignity lives in your Outfitter tab.
The Tundra Enforcer Armor Set is the headlining 7.9 addition, inspired by the snowtroopers from The Mandalorian and Grogu. It comes with two chestpiece variants: with backpack and without: which is the kind of detail that makes SWTOR players irrationally happy. It is a clean Trooper/Bounty Hunter look that does not scream "I spent real money" too loudly.
The Maul Shadow Lord set from 7.8.1 is still flooding the GTN. Dark-side cosplay at its most committed. If you run a Sith Assassin and have not looked at it yet, that is on you.
GTN note: Post-7.9 the economy is spiking. PvP Season 10 demand, new cosmetics, and returning players colliding at once. Do not panic-buy. Do not panic-sell either. Let it stabilize.
Season 10 launched with 7.9. The theme is "knight" and includes heraldic shield flair and new armor rewards that Broadsword refused to preview properly beforehand. Standard operating procedure. The SWTOR PvP gear ranking reality: Thyrsian purple 336 is the ceiling, warzones are gear-capped, so you will never out-stat anyone. Skill is the differentiator. What a concept.
Season 10 armor rewards are cosmetic trophies more than functional upgrades. Earn them for the flex, not the stats.
Legendary Implants are the one slot Hyde & Zeek cannot fill. They are class-specific, powerful, and gated behind the SWTOR Legendary Implants guide rabbit hole most new players fall into too late. Short version: pick the implants recommended by the SWTOR Theorycrafters Discord for your discipline, get them to 340 via the ST4-RK vendor using Tech Fragments, and equip two at 340 to unlock an achievement discount on future upgrades. They are legacy-bound, so one character's grind benefits all your alts.
If you are chasing Rakata 344 and skipping augments, congratulations, you are voluntarily handicapping yourself. The best SWTOR augments for DPS in 7.9 are still the Advanced Kyrprax augments (Mastery or Power depending on your discipline's stat priority: check Theorycrafters Discord). Gold-tier (rank 77) augments are the ceiling. They cost a painful amount of credits or crafting time. Factor this into your budget before panic-buying 344 Rakata shells.
Pro tip: Remove augments before upgrading any gear piece. The upgrade system does not keep them. You will learn this lesson once.
The SWTOR Legacy Operations guide answer is: run whatever drops OP-1 Catalysts. Legacy NiM (Master Mode) Operations drop purple Rakata directly and give 175 OP-1 Catalysts on weekly completion. Story Mode is the on-ramp. Veteran Mode is where you learn what humility feels like.

R-4 Anomaly remains a side-track. Story Mode R-4 is only worth running for the cosmetic shell or to shortcut an alt to 328. Veteran Mode R-4 still provides the Virulent 340 > Rakata 342 upgrade path.

Rakata 344 purple. Every slot. No exceptions. Hyde & Zeek blue 340 is a solid, free alternative with identical stats before the 340 upgrade threshold.
No. Thyrsian caps at 336 purple. Rakata goes to 344. Use PvP gear exclusively in warzones where gear is equalized anyway.
No. Story content is balanced around story drops. Endgame gear makes it trivial, not necessary.
Cartel Market or GTN. It is a cosmetic set inspired by The Mandalorian and Grogu. No stats attached: use the Outfit Designer.
Currency for Rakata upgrades. Cap 1,200. Earn from Ops bosses, weekly missions, and deconstructing unwanted purple gear. Master Mode weekly gives 175 at once.
