The Nameless Seer finally lets you farm Apothecary on a map you don't hate. This guide explains PoE2 Scrying Pool mechanics, best maps, and Atlas stra

Because running Defiled Cathedral 400 times is a personality disorder, not a farming strategy.
The Scrying Pool PoE2 community shorthand refers to the mechanic delivered by the Nameless Seer: the ability to transplant one map's divination card drop pool onto another. It does not require a ritual. It does not cost currency to activate. It costs time, patience, and the willingness to clear an entire T16 looking for a man who may not show up. Classic PoE.
Before this mechanic existed, players suffered through awful map layouts because The Apothecary dropped there and nowhere else. The Nameless Seer ended that era of masochism. Now you suffer in a map you enjoy, which is a meaningfully different experience.
Note: "Scrying Pool" is player shorthand. The official mechanic is called Scrying, accessed via the Nameless Seer NPC. The divination card table you're manipulating is the pool. Pedantry over.
When you run a T16 map and find the Nameless Seer, he offers two things: a free unique item from his shop, and the option to perform a Nameless Seer map scry. These are not mutually exclusive. Take both. Always.
Scrying overrides the divination card drop pool of any other non-unique map on your Atlas with the pool from the map you are currently running. The donor map keeps its own cards. The recipient map loses its native card table and inherits the donor's. One map. One scry. No stacking.
The scry effect is character-specific, not Atlas-wide. Switch characters and the effect does not follow. Plan accordingly.
The Seer has a hidden spawn chance tied to natural monster kills. Pack size and monster density directly increase your odds. He spawns off the kill itself, not from a specific chest, rare, or boss. This means the how to find Nameless Seer answer is as thrilling as it sounds: kill everything.
Run 8-mod T16 maps. More modifiers mean more pack size variants and higher monster counts.
Use Monster Lineage Scarabs. They inject additional natural packs, which are what the Seer's spawn checks.
Click shrines: Acceleration in particular lets you clear faster, getting more Seer checks per hour.
Skip the boss. He drops from map monsters, not the boss. The boss wastes your time.
If you haven't found him after ~50 monsters remain, leave. Move to the next map.
The Seer does not have a pity timer. He does not owe you anything. This is PoE.
The goal is to find a map with an excellent divination card farming PoE2 drop table, then scry that table onto a map with a fast, open layout. The following maps are the donors worth waiting for.

The pattern is consistent: terrible layouts have excellent card tables. Beautiful layouts have mediocre drops. This is not a coincidence. GGG knows what it's doing.
Your recipient map needs one quality: fast full clears. The Atlas passive tree optimization approach here is simple: favorite an open linear T16 map with above-average density and scry your chosen donor's card pool onto it. Tropical Island, Dunes, Beach, and City Square are the usual candidates. Linear. Open. Brainless to navigate.
Corrupting maps to 8 mods before running recipients increases pack size further, which means more monsters, which means faster card accumulation. The investment is negligible. The returns are not.
Running Defiled Cathedral rewards on an open T16 layout is the entire point of the mechanic. If you are not doing this, you are either new or stubborn.
The PoE2 endgame atlas guide answer for Scrying is: specialize into pack size and card-adjacent passives, not raw item quantity. Quantity affects base drop rates. Pack size affects how many rolls you get. More rolls means more chances the Seer appears. The Seer appearing once can redirect an entire day's farming value.
Notable Atlas investments for Scrying-focused builds:
Do not waste passives on mechanics you are not running. The Atlas tree rewards focus. Spreading points across every mechanic is how you get mediocre returns everywhere.
The how to reset scrying PoE process has two paths. First: find the Nameless Seer again and select a new recipient: the old scry pair dissolves automatically. Second: use an Orb of Scouring directly on the recipient map from the Atlas interface. The Scouring resets it to natural drops instantly.
Managing scry pairs is an underrated skill. Most players set one, forget it, and miss opportunities to upgrade. Check your Atlas weekly. If better targets have appeared in the league economy, reset and re-scry.
The pre-Scrying method was Divination Scarab of Curation: it was removed. Before that, players ran layouts they despised. Divination card target farming was genuinely painful. Scrying is the most player-friendly version of card manipulation PoE has produced, which means it is still subject to RNG, still requires T16 access, and still depends on a man who may not show up for 20 maps straight.

An efficient map farming strategy endgame PoE2 centered on Scrying looks like this: pick one high-value donor (Defiled Cathedral for Apothecary), scry onto a fast recipient (Tropical Island or Dunes). Run the recipient with 8 mods, 2x Monster Lineage Scarabs, and a Domination Scarab for shrines. Clear every pack. Skip the boss. Repeat until the Seer appears in the donor during a rotation check.
The best maps to scry PoE list changes with every league as GGG shuffles card tables. Before committing, check the current league's economy. A card worth 40 Divines last league may be worth 4 this league. Always verify on trade before farming 200 maps for a mediocre payday.
The one invariable: Apothecary. It has been valuable every league since it was added. If you're looking for a safe scry target that will always return value, Defiled Cathedral is the answer.

It's the Nameless Seer's ability to swap a map's divination card drop table onto another map of your choice.
Kill natural map monsters in T16 maps. Higher pack size and monster density increase your odds. There's no guaranteed trigger.
No. The recipient map loses its native card pool entirely. Donor map keeps its own cards unaffected.
Apply an Orb of Scouring to the recipient map in your Atlas, or overwrite it the next time you find the Seer.
Defiled Cathedral onto any fast open map. The Apothecary alone justifies the effort, every single league.
