PoE 2 Hostile Takeover Guide

The Hostile Takeover quest in PoE 2 is an Act 4 side quest. It is not optional in any practical sense: completing it unlocks your personal Shoreline Hideout and the asynchronous auto-trade system through an NPC named Ange. If you ever intend to sell items without sitting in town like a market vendor from 2003, you need this done.

we know about you're much bigger expert in Poe 2 than us. That's why, we share you with our incredible, CRINGEBLOG promocode, which is cut your costs on every offer at our site. LITERALLY ON EVERY!!!

Recommended level: 45+. The island mobs sit at levels 46–48. Arrive undergeared and the fish will eat you. Deservingly.

The quest is part of the broader Path of Exile 2 patch 0.5 content expansion, which introduced Act 4 along with new mechanics, ascendancies, and the island archipelago travel system. You do it once per league per account. Yes, only once. Try to enjoy it.

Step-by-Step Walkthrough

  1. Arrive at Kingsmarch, the Act 4 hub. Walk to the pier. Ange stands near the well, close to Rog's shop. Talk to her. The quest starts. Congratulations on finding an NPC.
  2. Before sailing anywhere, complete the Ship Charter main quest to unlock Makoru the boat operator. No charter, no boat, no island, no hideout. The game doesn't explain this loudly enough.
  3. Talk to Makoru and sail to Whakapanu Island, southeast of Kingsmarch on the world map.
  4. On the island, find the entrance to Singing Caverns. It typically spawns toward the northwest edge of the map. Not in the jungle. By the water. Where siren bosses live.
  5. Inside the Singing Caverns, activate waypoints, clear through to Chamber of Echoes, and kill Diamora, Song of Death.
  6. Portal back to Kingsmarch. Talk to Ange. Select "Travel to Shoreline Hideout". You'll be dropped on a beach full of enemies. Kill them all.
  7. Talk to Ange again on the beach. Quest complete. Hideout unlocked. Ange is now your merchant.

Gear Checklist Before You Go

Diamora deals primarily cold damage. Stack cold resistance to the 75% cap. It will not feel excessive when she's pummeling you with frozen water for the fourth time. Patch 0.5 did not nerf her habit of being annoying. Also bring movement speed boots: this fight punishes standing still with the enthusiasm of a medieval torturer.

Singing Caverns: Navigation

The caverns are a maze. They are deliberately annoying. You will meet dense mob packs and abyssal mechanics: portals that spawn extra enemies if you trigger them carelessly. Do not rush. Use the tight corridors to funnel enemies rather than pulling the entire room at once. The PoE 2 Singing Caverns layout is open enough to get you killed if you treat it like a corridor shooter.

Abyssal portals: don't stand in them. They spawn reinforcements. If you're standing in them while pulling a full pack, that's on you.

Diamora, Song of Death: Boss Guide

She starts as a mermaid. She ends as a reason to question your build choices. The Diamora Song of Death boss fight has two distinct phases and a handful of mechanics designed to keep you moving at all times. Melee players suffer more. Ranged players suffer differently.

Phase 1: Full Health to 50%

Diamora dives into water pools, interrupting your damage and regenerating her shields each time. She also swipes in melee range: dodge backward, hit her during the recovery window. Three whirlpools appear when she raises both hands; move out immediately. Waterspouts follow you continuously: keep circling. Do not stop moving.

Phase 2: Below 50% Health

She moves to the arena center and opens with Stone Gaze: a wide cone petrification attack. If you're facing her inside the cone and accumulate 6 stacks, you're petrified and helpless. Fix: look away from Diamora to shed the debuff. Additionally, slow-moving water orbs begin tracking you. They do not stop. Kite them in circles and continue dealing damage between dives.

Key Mechanics Summary

  • Stone Gaze: face away from Diamora to avoid petrification stacks
  • Water Dive: she disappears, shield resets; wait for re-emergence, then burst
  • Whirlpools: telegraphed, move out before they land
  • Tracking Orbs (Phase 2): keep moving, never corner yourself
  • Claw Swipe: melee only, roll away, free punish window after miss
  • Lightning Vulnerability: use it, the fight is shorter if you bother

Patience is not optional. Diamora's Singing Caverns boss mechanics are designed to punish greed. Burst when she surfaces, back off when she dives. Repeat until she stops existing.

Shoreline Hideout: What You Actually Unlock

After killing every enemy in the Shoreline Hideout beach area and talking to Ange, you own the place. The Shoreline Hideout PoE 2 is your personal base for the rest of the league. It includes a well, Salvage Bench, Reforging Bench, Relic Locker, and Map Device. You can customize it with MTX. You can also invite Ange here permanently.

Ange becomes your auto-trade merchant. Put items in her Merchant's Tab, set prices in Chaos or Exalted Orbs, and she lists them on the trade site while you are offline doing anything else. The PoE 2 auto-trade system handles the transaction automatically: you collect currency from Ange when you log back in.

Feature

Requirement

Notes

Auto-Trade (sell)

Merchant's Tab (40 MTX points)

Or convert an existing Premium Tab on the website.

Currency Exchange

Free after unlocking Ange

Stackable currency only: not through Merchant Tab.

Hideout Customization

MTX shop

Cosmetic. The base is functional without it.

Manual Trade

Premium Stash Tab (old system)

Still exists. You can use both systems simultaneously.

Auto-trade transactions are instantaneous. Underprice something and it sells before you blink. Check prices on the manual trade site first. Losing a mirror-tier item to a 1-chaos listing is the kind of suffering this game reserves for the truly careless.

Rewards at a Glance

  • Shoreline Hideout: your permanent base with crafting stations and Map Device
  • Ange as merchant NPC: unlocks asynchronous auto-trading and currency exchange
  • Diamora loot: rare gear, currency shards, crafting orbs, chance at unique items
  • Main quest progress: Diamora drops a weapon fragment needed for The Search questline

PoE 2 Hostile Takeover Guide FAQ

Can I skip Hostile Takeover and still trade?

No. Ange and the auto-trade system are locked behind this quest. Manual trade still works, but Ange is unavailable.

Where exactly is the Singing Caverns entrance on Whakapanu Island?

Northwest edge of the island, near water. Not in the jungle. Explore the outer map border: it's consistently there.

Diamora keeps diving and resetting her shield. Is this a bug?

No. It's intentional. Burst on emergence, accept the downtime. Fighting her shield is a waste of flasks and sanity.

Do I need to complete Hostile Takeover again in a new league?

Yes, once per league per account. The hideout and Ange do not carry over between leagues. Enjoy the repeat.
