Escape from Tarkov RAM Shortage Guide
Tarkov Airdrops Event is live as of March 19, 2026. Every raid, no end date, medical crates packed with rocket launchers. Classic BSG chaos: guide is
The Tarkov Airdrops Event 2026 went live on March 19, 2026, immediately after the Smugglers event ended: which itself ended without warning, sending a portion of the playerbase into the kind of grief spiral usually reserved for wipes. Battlestate Games, in their infinite and well-documented contempt for player preparation, did not announce the Airdrops Event in advance. There was a social media image, presumably cryptic, presumably of a plane or a crate or a UN logo. Classic cryptic BSG teaser energy. Zero context. Maximum vibes.
As for when the Tarkov Airdrops Event 2026 ends: there is no official end date. BSG has not announced one. Based on past event windows: which run roughly 1–3 weeks before silently evaporating: you should treat every day of this event as borrowed time. Complete your loot runs now. If you wait for official confirmation, you will be farming Vaseline out of a UN crate while the credits roll.
Timeline Warning The Smugglers event ended without notice. The Airdrops event launched the same day. There is no stated duration. Go loot the crates now, or spend the rest of the week staring at a red smoke marker that no longer exists.
The Tarkov Airdrops Event 2026 is a limited-time gameplay change that dramatically increases the frequency of airdrop spawns across most maps. Under normal Tarkov conditions, airdrops are rare, contested, and require either blind luck or a signal pistol with a red flare cartridge. During this event, the event-specific version forces airdrops into every raid on all eligible maps. The plane shows up. The crates fall. The red smoke rises. Everyone rushes. Someone dies. That someone is probably you.
What makes this iteration particularly unhinged is the loot inside. Battlestate Games, possibly in response to player complaints about the Smugglers event ending: or possibly because someone in the office bet a coffee: began filling Medical airdrop crates with RShG-2 72.5mm rocket launchers. Thermobaric warheads. In a medical supply drop. Marked with a cross. The humanitarian aid you deserve.
And then, shortly after, the medical crates switched to Vaseline. Dozens of Vaseline. From the sky. There is a very real and deeply credible theory that BSG did this specifically to troll the playerbase that complained. Either way, you can now loot either a single-use rocket launcher or a budget skincare product from a UN-marked plane. This is Tarkov in 2026.

The Airdrops Event 2026 is active on all locations except Ground Zero, Factory, The Lab, and The Labyrinth. If you're trying to avoid the sound of a plane followed by seventeen players converging on a single GPS coordinate, those are your sanctuaries. Enjoy Factory. Everyone else is fighting over a crate on Shoreline.
Airdrops land at preset positions on each map, announced by a very loud IL-76MD-90A flying overhead, firing countermeasure flares at intervals like it's being chased by someone's overpriced missile. When it reaches the drop zone, it dumps the crate and banks hard away. The crate parachutes down and hits the ground emitting red smoke. You will be able to see the smoke from across the map. So will everyone else.
Tip You Already Know Red smoke means "free loot." It also means "ambush." Every player within a 400-metre radius knows where you're going. Approach airdrops like you approach a bear trap that's also on fire.

There are four distinct airdrop crate variants in the Tarkov Airdrops Event 2026. Each is marked differently and contains different loot categories. All crates are 10×12 grids and may come with bonus backpacks, because nothing says "come fight me" like a parachuting crate with a backpack strapped to it.

Let's talk about the RShG-2 72.5mm rocket launcher with a EFT boost, which is currently the star item inside Medical airdrop crates and perhaps the most absurd loot table entry in recent Tarkov history. It is a single-use, 4×1 slot thermobaric grenade launcher weighing 4 kg, sold by Prapor at LL4 after completing The Art of Explosion. It fires one thermobaric warhead at 144 m/s with an effective range of 50 metres. It cannot be insured. It cannot be listed on the Flea Market. You can only hold two at once. And it will damage you if you fire it near a wall.
It is, in essence, a rocket launcher that punishes poor spatial awareness and cannot be monetised. A fitting metaphor for the Tarkov event experience. You cannot insure it, cannot sell it, and the hot backblast gases will cook you if you fire it indoors. It does, however, obliterate whatever is in front of you at close range, which is sometimes all you need.
Important The RShG-2 cannot be listed on the Flea Market. Do not pick one up thinking you'll retire on it. You will not retire on it. You will fire it once, accidentally clip a wall, and take 60 damage. Then you will extract and put it in your stash to collect digital dust.
You don't have to wait for the map to naturally spawn one. Airdrops can be manually called using a Signal Pistol loaded with a 26×75mm red flare cartridge, or the handheld RSP-30 red flare. Fire it skyward. Plane arrives. Crate drops. Red smoke signals your position to everyone on the map, because of course it does.
There is a 15–17 minute cooldown between airdrops, enforced by a notification reading: "Wait for arrival! Airspace is congested." This is the game telling you to be patient. In Tarkov. Good luck with that. During the active event, the natural spawn frequency is dramatically increased, meaning you may not need to call one at all: just listen for the plane and start running.

The Tarkov Airdrops Event 2026 has no announced end date. This is not an oversight in this guide: BSG simply has not communicated a timeline. As of March 24, 2026, the event is still active. Based on the pattern of recent Tarkov events: the Smugglers event ran from March 12 to March 19, approximately one week: airdrop events historically last anywhere from one to three weeks.
What we do know is how this ends: without warning, mid-session, with a Reddit thread going up fifteen minutes later. The event will vanish. Players who didn't complete their runs in time will post about it. BSG may or may not respond. They may, as evidenced by the Vaseline saga, respond by dropping more crates. It's a cycle. It's Tarkov.
The only rational advice: play the event now with a EFT currency boost. Today. Not this weekend. Not "after I finish this other thing." Now. You are reading a guide about an event with no end date. That's the game. That's always been the game.

March 19, 2026. Right as the Smugglers event ended, because BSG never leaves a gap where you could breathe.
No official end date. Assume it ends the moment you decide to take a two-day break from Tarkov.
BSG modified loot tables and may be trolling the community. Both are accurate explanations and neither is satisfying.
No. It's Flea Market banned. Enjoy your one thermobaric warhead and the wall damage that follows.
All maps except Ground Zero, Factory, The Lab, and The Labyrinth. The safe zones. Cherish them.
