Escape from Tarkov RAM Shortage Guide
The Gate Map Playtest is live in EFT: Arena until March 23. Play CheckPoint on a textureless new airport map, complete Field Testing quest, earn 420k
Battlestate Games has launched a special limited-time event called the Gate Map Playtest, which began on March 13, 2026. In a dazzling display of confidence, BSG decided to shove an untextured, blockout-stage map straight into the live servers and let actual players run around it. Because who needs polish when you have paying customers as free QA testers?
The new map is called Gate: a converted airport boarding area turned arena. Think: the saddest layover of your life, except everyone is trying to shoot you in the face. The event runs until March 23, 2026, giving you about ten days to enjoy the grey-box aesthetic that game developers usually reserve for internal playtests. You're welcome, apparently.
Boarding area turned into an Arena. Among abandoned shops and shattered storefronts stretch passages to neighboring gates, forming a tangled network of cover and flanking routes.
— Official "Gate" map description
⚠ Gate is currently only available in CheckPoint mode. It is in the "blockout stage," meaning no textures, no clutter: just raw geometry. BSG is collecting community feedback. Your job is essentially to be an unpaid playtester. Congratulations on your new career.
Gate takes place inside a repurposed airport boarding area: a setting that should feel painfully familiar to anyone who's ever been stranded waiting for a delayed flight. The key difference here is that instead of overpriced sandwiches, you get automatic rifle fire.
Because the map is in its blockout stage, everything is rendered in basic untextured geometry. This is not a bug: it is, per BSG, "an early version of the map needed for rapid testing of mechanics, gameplay, and overall structure." So you're not hallucinating. Yes, it genuinely looks like that.

A new quest called Field Testing has been added exclusively for this event. It is given by Ref: the Arena's beloved quest-giver who is definitely not just a thinly veiled excuse to make you play specific modes. The quest is not required for the Kappa container, in case you were worried about your insane completionist run.
My guys are prepping a new Arena location right now. I'm gonna call it Gate. The, um... architect, Trombon, decided to check the routes, sightlines, and the overall layout ahead of time. So don't mind the place looking a bit empty for now, they just haven't had time to clutter it up yet. Your job's simple: run around, shoot a bit, and win one match. Just a routine test, pretty much.

Since the map is essentially brand new and in an unfinished state, here's how to approach it without losing your mind: or all your kills to someone flanking through a gate corridor you didn't notice existed.
General Approach
Grinding the 50 Kills
⚠ The event ends on March 23, 2026. After that, the Gate map access: and with it the Field Testing quest: disappears. It's a time-limited event. If you want those rewards, don't procrastinate. You have about ten days from launch.
BSG is doing what game developers rarely have the audacity to do: live player-testing an unfinished map on production servers. The stated reason is that the blockout stage is used "for rapid testing of mechanics, gameplay, and overall structure." They want real player data, not internal tester data, to evaluate how the map plays before spending resources on full visual development.
On one hand, this is a smart move: real players stress-test layouts in ways internal QA never can. On the other hand, you are paying to play a grey box. It's a bold choice. BSG is actively requesting community feedback, so if you play Gate and have thoughts on the layout, flanking routes, or sightlines: this is literally the point of the event. They want to hear it.
The in-game lore wrapper for all this is that Ref's "architect" character Trombon is checking the routes ahead of full deployment. It is a thin narrative veneer over "please test our map," but it's a charming one. Trombon would like you to know: the place looks empty because they "haven't had time to clutter it up yet." Sure, Trombon. Sure.

It is an untextured airport boarding area designed for early structural and gameplay community testing.
The event began on March 13, 2026, and will remain active until March 23, 2026.
You must eliminate fifty enemies and win exactly one match while playing the CheckPoint mode.
Developers released this blockout version intentionally to gather player feedback regarding mechanics and map flow.
No, the Field Testing quest is completely optional and not required for the Kappa container.
