Division 2 Capitol Globe Anomaly Guide & Rewards
Patch 2.26 added the Escalation Requisition Vendor: the first guaranteed path to Prototype Gear in Division 2.
Introduced with Season 1 (Year 8), Division 2 Prototype Gear sits above every other tier in the game: above High-End, Named, and Gear Set items. Its base stats can roll up to 1.5x higher than normal gear. The floor on a Prototype piece is already the maximum of a standard high-end roll. That is not a typo. The worst Prototype you can find beats the best normal drop you have been hoarding since launch.
Every Prototype also comes with an Augment: a talent-like bonus drawn from a shared pool, applicable to any gear type. Augments can be improved over time and rerolled if you get a useless one. The resource for that is Prototype Cores. Start caring about Prototype Cores now.
Critical Rule Once gear reaches Prototype quality, it cannot be recalibrated or optimized. Ever. Make sure the base item is worth upgrading before you commit.
Patch 2.26 (Y8S1.2, May 12, 2026) added the Escalation Requisition Vendor to the Base of Operations, standing exactly next to the Escalation mission panel. This is the first time in the game's history that you can directly exchange Escalation Tokens for Prototype loot. Massive would like credit for this. You may or may not give it.
The vendor sells three types of caches. Two of them rotate daily. Here is what each one costs and what you actually get:
|
Cache Type |
Cost (Tokens) |

Prototype Random Cache |

Daily Weapon Cache |

The random cache exists for people who need Prototype Cores and have no interest in today's rotation. The targeted daily caches exist for everyone else. Spending tokens on random pulls when a relevant targeted cache is available is a personal failure of discipline, and nobody here will comfort you about it.
Before doing anything else, open your mailbox. Go to Stash → Mailbox → Special Deliveries. Ubisoft issued a compensation grant of 3 free Prototype Core Caches to every player who logs in between May 12 and May 26, 2026, as acknowledgment that earlier Escalation bugs were real and Massive noticed. This is the closest the game comes to handing you something without demanding 87 tokens first. Take it.
Do This Right Now Log in → Stash → Mailbox → Special Deliveries. Claim the 3 Prototype Core Caches. They expire. Unlike your patience, they have a deadline.

Escalation is available to Level 40 agents at the White House. Escalation token farming starts the moment you understand the mission structure: five maps rotate weekly on Tuesdays. You cannot repeat the same map until reset. Plan accordingly or be surprised every week, which is a valid character flaw.
Each Tier costs tokens to enter and returns tokens on completion: if you complete it. Failing a run means the entry tokens are gone. There are no checkpoints. One wipe ends the attempt. With that cheerful framing established, here is the token economy by tier:

The math at Tier 10 is insulting if you are the squad leader. You pay 87, profit 7. Meanwhile your group members pay nothing and pocket 25 each. The recommended solution is to rotate the leader role between teammates. This is basic arithmetic dressed up as strategy.
Run the highest tier your build can complete reliably. Failing Tier 8 costs more than clearing Tier 5 twice and teaches you nothing useful about efficiency. Also: all Escalation tokens reset at the start of each new season. Hoarding is pointless.
RNG drops in Escalation runs exist on top of vendor purchases. At Tier 1, individual enemies carry a 0.2% chance of dropping a Prototype piece. At Tier 10, that climbs to 1.5%. That number sounds low because it is low. Prototype gear drop rate improvements have been a recurring discussion topic since launch, and Massive has adjusted rates upward based on player feedback. It remains an exercise in patience rather than probability math.
Prototype Gear was also briefly dropping from loot crates inside Escalation missions: incorrectly, as it turned out. Massive removed that in an April 28 maintenance pass, framed it as a bug fix, and received the community response you would expect. The loot crates are now back to normal High-End drops. Adjust your emotional expectations accordingly.

You do not have to rely exclusively on drops. The Tinkering Station Prototype upgrade lets you convert any eligible High-End, Named, or Gear Set item into Prototype quality. Exotics are currently excluded. The requirements to convert a piece:
On conversion, one random core attribute is guaranteed to hit the new maximum. There is a 5% chance of two maxed attributes, and a 1% chance all three roll perfectly. If those odds sound generous, you have not played this game long enough.
The Tinkerer Exotic Mask talent "Abridged" is now fixed to work correctly with Prototype weapons (patched in 2.26). Builds pairing the Tinkerer mask with Prototype weapon loadouts are viable again and worth rebuilding around if the archetype fits your playstyle.
The best Prototype gear strategy is not complicated, just time-consuming. Check the daily rotation every morning. If the cache matches a slot you need, spend the 10 tokens. If it does not, either save tokens or run a 5-token random pull for Core materials.
The Circular Economy Spend tokens → get Prototype gear → dismantle bad rolls for Prototype Cores → use Cores to upgrade good base items at Tinkering Station. The bottleneck is not Cores. It is time and token volume. Budget both accordingly.
Division 2 crash Escalation tokens lost during the stability issues between maintenance windows on May 12 is a known problem. Massive confirmed compensation will be distributed for players affected by the Delta crashes. If tokens vanished mid-run, document how many and monitor official channels. The compensation framework is in place; the delivery timeline is "later this week" as of the patch notes.
Also fixed in Patch 2.26: Prototype Cores were previously not shared account-wide. Escalation Tokens and tiers were not shared account-wide either. Both are now corrected. If you were managing multiple characters manually to work around this, you can stop.
Escalation runs at all tiers include two permanent global mutators that will not negotiate with you:
From Tier 7 onward, all six mutator slots are active simultaneously. At Tier 10, enemies carry 700% health, 700% armor, and deal 500% damage. There are no checkpoints. This is not framed as content for everyone, and that framing is accurate.
