Division 2 Escalation Vendor + Cassie & Danny Reset May 13
The Assault Global Event is live and your loadout is embarrassing. Here's a Hunter's Fury + Dark Winter build that lets you...
Congratulations. You've decided to walk directly into enemy fire and somehow survive it. That's the premise of the Division 2 Hunter's Fury build. It doesn't ask you to play smart. It asks you to get close, pull the trigger, and trust that the gear set will cover your poor life choices with armor regen and disoriented NPCs.
The Assault Global Event was practically designed for this build. NPCs standing within arm's reach of you take amplified damage: which is exactly where this loadout thrives. Red claw marks over an enemy's head confirm the event bonus is active. If you don't see them, you forgot to activate the event. Which is a special kind of failure.
Event Reminder: Activate the Assault Global Event manually before you start farming. Without it, you earn zero stars and zero event-specific bonuses. Yes, it needs to be said.
The Dark Winter SMG is a named variant of the Vector SBR .45 ACP. It hits fast, it sounds angry, and its talent does something that makes crit-focused builds genuinely stupid strong. The talent is Perfect Killer: killing an enemy with a critical hit grants +50% critical hit damage for 10 seconds. Chain kills fast enough and that buff never falls off. You are, quite literally, rewarded for not stopping.
Acquisition is the catch. This weapon is Dark Zone exclusive: extractable from DZ landmarks, purchasable from DZ vendors with DZ Resources, or obtainable from the Countdown Requisitions Station. It also appears in Conflict/Legacy/Named Item Caches. The Blueprint drops from Reconstructed Caches bought with NSA Tech. Choose your preferred flavor of inconvenience.
Alternatives exist if you can't be bothered with DZ politics. Lady Death and Aurora Borealis both work fine in this slot. But the Dark Winter's Perfect Killer talent turns this from a build into a SMG crit build Division 2 in its purest, most unhinged form.
The core of the build is four pieces of Hunter's Fury paired with two pieces of Sokolov Concern. This combination layers enough SMG damage, crit bonus, and armor generation on top of each other that you will occasionally forget you are taking damage at all.

Two pieces of Sokolov adds +10% SMG Damage and +13% Critical Hit Damage. The chest piece runs Intimidate: while you have bonus armor active, you gain one stack per second (max 9), each adding +4% weapon damage to enemies within 10 meters. Nine stacks is +36% weapon damage on top of everything else. The build demands you stay in bonus armor constantly: which the rest of the loadout handles for you, as long as you keep killing things. Stop killing things and you deserve what happens next.
This is the only genuine decision point in the build, and it depends entirely on how antisocial you are. The Memento exotic backpack drops trophies from every enemy you kill. Pick up the trophy, get a short-term burst (+5% weapon damage per red core) and a long-term stacking buff: +1% weapon damage, +0.1% armor regen, and +1% skill efficiency per trophy, up to 30 stacks lasting 300 seconds. In solo play this snowball compounds fast. In group play, you're competing with your teammates for kills: and therefore trophies. Sharing is not mechanically incentivized here.
Blood Sucker (the Sokolov backpack talent) solves the group problem. Every kill grants +10% bonus armor for 10 seconds, stacking up to ten times: that's a full 100% bonus armor cap from killing alone. It reliably activates Intimidate and keeps your damage output consistent regardless of who your teammates are shooting. Recommended for group play and players who cannot be trusted to pick up trophies under pressure.
Memento Source: It drops from Countdown on Heroic difficulty with Targeted Loot set to backpacks. Alternatively, Exotic Caches and raids. Farm it properly or accept the Blood Sucker and move on.
Gunner is the correct specialization for this build and it earns that title by doing multiple useful things simultaneously. It provides armor on kill, a reload speed bonus, and access to the Banshee Pulse: a skill that slots perfectly into aggressive close-range play. You also get a small rate-of-fire boost, because the Vector wasn't fast enough apparently.
One note that gets buried in every build video but costs players actual damage: make sure your Gunner specialization weapons are correctly activated in the weapon skill tree. This gives a +15% weapon damage bonus. Equip the wrong weapon type and you leave that on the table. It's a free 15%. Not grabbing it is just wasteful.
The recommended combination is Banshee Pulse plus Crusader Shield. The Pulse debuffs enemies and synergizes with the aggressive close-range premise. The Shield provides emergency survivability when the armor regen hasn't caught up with your decision to charge three elites simultaneously. An Assault Drone is a reasonable substitute for the Pulse if you'd rather something that works while you're reloading.

The Division 2 crit build stats you're aiming for are straightforward. Max crit chance, as much crit damage as gear allows. Stack both attributes on every Hunter's Fury piece and every mod slot. At SHD level 1,000 with the full loadout above, you land at:
The 60% crit chance ceiling is hard. You will not exceed it. What you can and should maximize is crit damage, since Perfect Killer adds another 50% on top of whatever your gear shows. The combined damage ceiling while all buffs are active is large enough that enemy health bars become a formality rather than an obstacle.
The ACS12 with the Talon talent handles anything the SMG doesn't: typically staggered elites or shotgunners trying to use your own build's philosophy against you. The Quickstep pistol functions as the sidearm. Neither of these weapons will define your build. The Dark Winter does the heavy lifting. Treat the secondary slot as a backup plan for the rare moment you misjudge your magazine.
The Assault Global Event Division 2 rewards proximity-based aggression with a flat damage amplifier to all NPCs near you. This stacks with Apex Predator's 15m debuff radius, Intimidate's proximity requirement, and the SMG's natural effective range. Every mechanic in this build already demands you stand close to enemies. The event doesn't ask you to change your behavior: it just pays you better for your recklessness.
You earn event stars through completing challenges and gaining SHD levels with the event active. The event must be manually enabled from the Global Event menu. The bonus is visible as red claw marks floating above NPC heads. If you are not seeing claw marks, you have not enabled the event, and no amount of efficient farming will generate stars.
This Division 2 PvE farming build clears Escalation content at a pace that makes the mode feel worth engaging with again. The build deletes groups of weaker enemies fast enough that Escalation's wave structure stops feeling like a chore. A new Prototype Vendor now accepts Escalation tokens in exchange for Prototype Caches: adding actual incentive to a mode many players had quietly abandoned. If you were waiting for a reason to run it, you now have one, and you have a build that makes it painless.

Dark Winter with Perfect Killer. Lady Death and Aurora Borealis are solid alternatives if you hate the Dark Zone.
Memento for solo play. Blood Sucker for groups where you can't guarantee every kill is yours.
Farm Dark Zone vendors, DZ landmarks, Countdown Requisitions, or Conflict/Named Item Caches. Blueprint available via NSA Tech.
Max crit chance at 60%, then stack as much crit damage as possible on all remaining gear slots and mods.
Yes. Both apply simultaneously in close range. Nine Intimidate stacks plus Apex Predator bonuses stack without canceling each other.
