Division 2 Capitol Globe Anomaly Guide & Rewards

ISAC has flagged a new SHD network anomaly connected to lost agents, directing operatives to the headquarters of The Capitol Globe: once one of Washington D.C.'s major newspapers, now a nest of Outcast activity that smells like rotting newsprint and bad decisions. The mission arrived alongside Title Update Y8S1.2 and is available to any agent who has reached Level 30 and parted with the appropriate amount of Premium Credits.

Is This Worth Your Money?

Before you spend 500 Premium Credits on what is, technically, a paid puzzle box, here are the two exclusive rewards the game is dangling in front of you. This is a Division 2 classified assignment guide that respects your time enough to lead with the loot.

Item Type

Name

Description

Exclusivity Status

Named Weapon

Headline Grabber

A Named M60 LMG featuring the Perfect Strained talent. Dropped by the mission boss. Note: Do not let this item autoconstruct.

Currently Exclusive

Backpack Trophy

Moth Man

A backpack trophy modeled after the cryptid. This item is fully exclusive to this assignment with no current roadmap for a wider release.

Permanent Exclusive

The Headline Grabber will eventually be obtainable elsewhere: the developers have confirmed this: but the Moth Man is yours only here. If collecting a backpack insect is the hill you want to die on financially, read on.

How to Access the Mission

As of the Y8S1.2 update, all classified assignments Year 8: and the legacy Year 1 collection: have been moved to a dedicated Assignments map tab. Your content has not disappeared. Ubisoft merely relocated it without telling you.

  • The entrance is in the northwestern corner of Downtown East, above the Fallen Cranes control point.
  • One block north of that control point, find the subway station entrance marked with blue paint on the sidewalk.
  • Descend. The mission begins. Congratulations on finding a staircase.

The mission can only be accessed once per week. Exit prematurely and you will be staring at a locked door until Tuesday 07:00 UTC. Plan accordingly.

Mission Walkthrough

Phase 1: Generator Parts

The first large room requires you to eliminate all hostiles. The first collectible comm sits upstairs and to the right of the main area. Collect it. Your objective then becomes locating three Division 2 generator parts puzzle components for the JTF generator.

The game will highlight these parts for you after a brief search period, which completely undermines the "exploration mission" concept. Appreciate the irony and move on.

  • Stand on the large skybridge catwalk and look across to the window. Shoot the yellow box. This unlocks a door. Behind that door: Part 1.
  • Head downstairs. Part 2 is sitting in the open. No puzzle, no lock. Just loot on a surface.
  • Return upstairs near the conference room. Part 3 is here. The infected civilian behind the locked door is not a puzzle: she is the next objective. Leave her there for now.
  • Return to the generator. Repair it. Follow the mission marker to the next room.

Phase 2: The Toxic Panel

The next main room contains an interactable generator, the final loot room (ignore it for now), and a panel sitting inside a toxic cloud. You have enough time to activate it and retreat before it kills you. Do that. Enemies spawn. Deal with them.

Collectible comm number two is hiding on the second floor, behind the large world clock wall. On a desk. Not guarded. Not behind a puzzle. Just sitting there, judging you.

Phase 3: The Hostage

Return to the conference room hostage via the connector hallways. Speak to her, shoot open the far door, and send her to the paramedics. More enemies. Defeat them.

Before continuing, return to the outside of that same conference room and look through the window into the small podcast studio inside. Shoot the yellow box visible through the glass. Loop back into the room through the hallway. The door is now open. Collect Capitol Globe Anomaly collectibles item number three from inside.

The enemies you just fought should have dropped a Print Office Access Key. If you ran over the loot pile like an impatient tourist, go back and get it.

Phase 4: The Printing Press

The access key opens a new passage into the printing press. Fight through the enemies, then locate and shoot all the shootable pipes on the ceiling above the main concourse. All of them. This triggers the next objective.

30-Second Timer Warning: The moment you touch the first emergency shut-off lever, a 30-second timer begins for all three mechanisms. Activate your Quick Step specialization before touching anything. The two levers are on elevated platforms on opposite sides of the room. The final valve is on the production floor below one of those levers. Enemies will not stop spawning because the game has decided you deserve this.

Once the timer is resolved, proceed to the primary control office and press the panel to disable operations. This spawns the mission boss and his considerable entourage. Eliminate them. The boss drops the Headline Grabber named LMG. Do not autoconstruct this pile. That would be a tragedy of your own making.

Comm number four is on the back wall of the control room. Grab it before you leave.

The Server Room Puzzle

Do not leave the mission yet. The Division 2 server room puzzle solution and all remaining rewards are in the world clock offices area. This is where the mission earns whatever claim it has to the word "puzzle."

  1. From the ground floor of the world clock offices, turn away from the clock wall and go to the very last room at the far back. Open the file cabinet. Retrieve the Storage Room Access Code.
  2. Return to the world clock wall. On the lower left is a now-interactable access door. Punch in the code. Look through the debris, shoot the lock off the door inside. Go around through the connector hallway to open it. Collect comm five and the Server Memory Module.
  3. Back in the world clock offices, find the server room on the ground floor near the stairs. Insert the module. Type on the keyboard. This pulls up three servers: A, B, and C, each with a status indicator.

Repeatedly typing on the keyboard cycles which server is currently active. Each active server corresponds to a laptop inside conference suite A, B, or C. Several suites are filled with toxic gas. Interacting with a laptop takes long enough to kill you if the ventilation is off.

The generator on the second floor, at the top of the stairs, toggles ventilation between suites. Activate the correct server, clear the gas from the matching suite, enter, and interact with the laptop. A blue screen should appear on the TV confirming success.

The order that resolved the puzzle: C first, then A, then B. Whether this is fixed or randomized per player is unconfirmed. If your order differs, the mechanical process remains identical: match server to suite, clear gas, interact laptop, repeat.

Suite

Location

Notes

C

Upstairs, next to the generator

Easiest to reach; do this one first

A

Upstairs, left of the stairs (opposite the generator)

Second in the confirmed working order

B

Downstairs, across from the server room

Final step; all servers go green when complete

Once all three servers show green and a camera feed of the final loot room appears on the main screen, head upstairs to the archives room overlooking the world clock wall. It is now open. Inside: the Moth Man backpack trophy and the mission Echo.

The mission counter lists six collectibles, not five. The Echo counts as the sixth despite not being manually playable. You are not missing something. The counter is mildly misleading. Classic.

The Headline Grabber: Should You Use It?

The Headline Grabber M60 named LMG comes equipped with Perfect Strained: a talent that increases weapon damage based on how long continuous fire has been maintained. The M60 platform already offers a 500 RPM fire rate with strong base LMG damage and solid out-of-cover bonuses.

Perfect Strained rewards sustained fire, which suits the M60's belt-fed design well. For Demolitionist builds running LMG-primary loadouts, the synergy with the specialization's 15% LMG damage bonus is serviceable. Do not build your entire LMG build Division 2 around it before the meta has had time to assess it properly. The Archivist from Assignment 1 remains available and provides a useful comparison point.

Will the Headline Grabber eventually appear elsewhere? Per developer statements: yes. When? Unknown. The Moth Man will not.

Division 2 Capitol Globe Anomaly Guide & Rewards FAQ

Can I get the Headline Grabber without buying the classified assignment?

Not yet. Developers confirmed it will eventually come from other sources, but no timeline or alternative drop source currently exists.

Is the server puzzle order (C, A, B) the same for every player?

Unconfirmed. The first assignment used randomized puzzle order. If CAB fails, try other combinations using the same ventilation mechanic.

Why does the mission say six collectibles when the guide lists five comms?

The Echo in the final archives room counts as collectible six. It cannot be played back but the counter includes it regardless.

What happens if I miss the Print Office Access Key drop?

Return to where the post-hostage enemies died. The key should still be on the ground. If you have already left the area, it may be gone permanently for that run.

Can the Moth Man trophy be obtained anywhere else in the game?

No. Unlike the named weapon, the Moth Man backpack trophy has been confirmed as permanently exclusive to this classified assignment.
