Before touching any of this, you need a Weapon of Sorrow equipped. Thorn, Osteo Striga, Touch of Malice, Necrochasm: pick one. Thorn costs an Exotic Cipher and 125,000 Glimmer from the Monument to Lost Light. If you don't have one, go get one. The mission will not cooperate without it.

You also need Cull's Shadow in your inventory. That means Oblation: Bloodline is already cleared. If it isn't, scroll past the Legendary section: this isn't for you yet.
Launch the Scarlet Keep Strike from the Moon destination map. Any difficulty. Run it until you reach Hashladun's boss arena. Do not kill her immediately. Three Hive rune symbols will appear on the arena walls after she enters. Equip your Weapon of Sorrow and shoot all three. Order is irrelevant here: just hit the correct discs. The iron bars at the back of the arena drop.
Go through. Take the first right. Interact with the Hive Crystal in that room. Kill Hashladun now. Return to the Moon patrol.
The map will show four search areas tagged as Suspicious Syndicate Activity. Each contains a Hive Crystal. Interact with all four in any order. The fourth and final crystal directs you to a signal beneath the bridge leading into the Scarlet Keep.
Do not leave after the boss dies. Walk away from the End Mission prompt. New enemies spawn. Climb to the high platforms, find the floating Hive book, interact with it. Then go to the back-right of the boss room and find the rune-covered door. Shoot the runes in order using Cull's Shadow or any Weapon of Sorrow. This gives you Catalyst 1 (Soulfire Succor) and unlocks Oblation: Soulfed.
This mission introduces the core mechanic the Oblation Exotic Mission runs on: Hive worm throwing. Irritating in theory. Worse in practice. Here is what you are doing.
Three bosses. One ogre, one wizard, one knight. Each requires the worm-crystal sequence to drop immunity. Two bosses fight simultaneously in the second phase: you need to hit both crystals or neither of them dies. The mission descends. Keep going down. Always.
After the final boss, find the Cull's Shadow exotic catalyst sequence behind the arena. Equip Cull's Shadow and look at the symbols on its side. Shoot the six rune discs held by statues in the exact top-to-bottom order displayed on the weapon. This awards Soulfire Zeal and unlocks Oblation: Immolation.
The final mission in the chain. The Hive rune puzzle format continues, now attached to the final boss: Ir Gohl, a soulfire-infused Knight. Two phases.
Three soulfire braziers power his immunity shield. Each has a Wizard mini-boss powering the flame. Kill the Wizard at each brazier to snuff it. Once all three are out, the shield drops and DPS starts. He goes immune again after roughly one-sixth of his health. Congratulations, you've done the easy part.
Ir Gohl moves to center and begins charging soulfire spheres. Each completed sphere triggers a platform explosion that kills anything standing there. Your job: dodge the explosion, go to the active brazier, get worms, hit the crystals. Worm mechanics still tick at 19 seconds. The boss gives you about 30 seconds of DPS window per cycle once crystals are activated. Repeat until dead.
Clearing Ir Gohl awards the Soulfire Skewer Catalyst, the Denier of Futurity Sparrow, and completes the full Oblation quest chain.
Do not leave. Again. Still. The pattern holds: after the final chest opens, stay in the mission. The Legendary difficulty timed variant unlock trigger is here.
This is the part Bungie didn't put in any tooltip. After Ir Gohl is dead and the Soulfire Skewer catalyst is in your inventory, there is a secret Legendary mission variant accessible from within the same instance. A new door: different from any catalyst door: becomes interactable at the back of the Immolation boss arena. It is marked by a cluster of Hive rune seals at chest height. Interact using Cull's Shadow equipped.
The door opens a variant launch node that loads Oblation as a timed challenge with Legendary modifiers active. This is the Gauntlet mode referenced in community videos. It includes all nine collectible worms distributed through all three missions, a running countdown visible in the activity HUD, and an adjusted enemy density throughout.
These are Triumph collectibles only: they do not affect combat or progression. All nine must be collected within a single timed run to complete the associated Triumph.
