The Crackshot Aspect arrived with Monument of Triumph as Solar Hunter's long-overdue identity. The mechanic: activate your class ability to mark up to three targets, then fire scorching shots at each. Land all three and you cure yourself. Miss and you deserve it.
Each shot applies Scorch stacks. At 100 stacks the target Ignites — a Solar explosion that spreads more Scorch to nearby enemies. Stack Ember of Char and watch the chain reaction clean rooms for you. This is the best Destiny 2 Solar Hunter build for anyone who finds breathing optional during combat.
Damage scales with your Class stat once it hits 100. This is not a suggestion. Prioritize it like your rent depends on it.

This is what the build actually looks like. Every slot has a reason. No padding, no "alternatives are fine too" hand-holding.

Exotic Armor |
Speedloader Slacks |
Dodging reloads everything. Stacks up to 5x. Dodging is also your class ability. You do the math. |

Aspect 1 |
Crackshot |
The entire reason this guide exists. |
|
Aspect 2 |
On The Hunt / Knock 'Em Down |
Knock 'Em Down for Blade Barrage ignitions; On The Hunt if you need target acquisition. |
|
Super |
Blade Barrage |
Knives now Scorch on detonation. Add clear and burst in one button. |
|
Melee |
Knife Trick |
Scorching knives. Feeds the ignition loop without requiring aim. |
|
Grenade |
Incendiary / Thermite |
Both apply Scorch. Thermite for corridors; Incendiary for single-target burn. |
|
Class Ability |
Marksman's Dodge |
Faster cooldown tied to Mobility. Triggers Crackshot. Reload. Everything at once. |
Caliban's Hand if you prefer a scorch-ignition melee build loop over reload synergy. Sixth Coyote gives two dodge charges — two Crackshot windows — at the cost of the reload stacking. In Solo Ultimate content, Speedloader Slacks wins because ammo conservation is not a joke.
Four slots. Every one matters. This is the Solar ignition build configuration for maximum uptime, not a "see what sticks" experiment.

The Ember of Char fragment is what turns three Crackshot shots into a room-clearing chain. Without it, ignitions are isolated events. With it, they are everyone's problem.
The class ability cooldown is the entire engine. If Mobility is low, Crackshot is slow, the loop collapses, and you are a Guardian with a knife. Do not be that Guardian.
Mods support the loop. Not the other way around. Every slot below earns its place in the Gunslinger endgame PvE context.

The build does not live or die by specific weapons, but Scorch-applying primaries accelerate the ignition loop. A Solar primary with Incandescent perk spreads Scorch on kills — automatic room prep. For Solo Ultimate Battleground Foothold content, heavy sustain matters more than peak DPS numbers.
The Speedloader Slacks exotic makes weapon choice more flexible since every dodge reloads your entire inventory. You can run low-magazine weapons that would otherwise be painful to manage in a solo setting.
The Crackshot Solar Hunter build has one job: maintain constant Scorch application across as many targets as possible until rooms self-destruct. Here is what that looks like in practice.
The Ultimate difficulty Battleground Foothold encounter punishes passive play and rewards constant motion. The Crackshot loop forces movement by design — dodge to activate, fire to heal, repeat. This is not accidental. The self-cure on landing all three shots means your survivability is directly tied to your accuracy. Miss and you bleed. Land hits and the encounter tempo is yours.
In the Solo Ultimate context, Resilience at 100 is non-negotiable. One extra hit at lower Resilience is the difference between a flawless run and 10 minutes lost.
For ignition chains, Caliban's. For sustained solo endgame ammo economy, Speedloader Slacks wins easily.
It works on bosses. Damage scales with Class stat at 100+. Hit all three shots for maximum scorch and self-cure.
Yes. Swap Sixth Coyote in for two Crackshot windows. Adjust mods for Champion coverage per the artifact.
Ember of Char, Ember of Ashes, Ember of Empyrean, Ember of Torches. In that priority order, no exceptions.
Yes. Blade Barrage now scorches on detonation, enabling ignition chains. Golden Gun is single-target and selfish.
