Archie is Destiny 2's mechanical dog: a robotic pet built by Rasputin and named by Ana Bray, now freeloading in the Tower after his creator's death. The Destiny 2 Archie location matters because petting him unlocks the "Can You Pet the Dog?" Triumph, introduced as part of the Monument of Triumph update. He is, objectively, the most useful NPC in the game. He doesn't sell anything broken. He doesn't ask for cores. He just wants to be petted. Respect that.
Archie is no longer by Ada-1's Synthweave shop. That spot is empty. Stop standing there looking confused.
After the Monument of Triumph update, Archie relocated to the far end of the Tower Bazaar, next to the vendor Lodi. He's sitting on a lounge deck covered with red rugs and pillows, apparently having decided that a robot dog who survived the collapse of an interstellar AI deserves better furniture.

Approach Archie and press the interaction button. The prompt reads "Activate Good Boy Protocol." This is Bungie acknowledging, without irony, that petting the dog requires an official protocol. Press it. The Good Boy Protocol Destiny 2 interaction counts immediately: no cutscene, no loading screen, no seasonal artifact required.
Petting Archie does not auto-deposit the reward into your pocket. You have to claim the 10 Legendary Marks Archie triumph manually:
While you're here, Hawthorne is nearby. She has the weekly Vault of Glass Deepsight quest required to unlock the Chatterwhite shader. Don't waste the trip.
The Legendary Marks currency Destiny 2 is spent at the four Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard: Bravery, Devotion, Sacrifice, and Death. Classic Bungie naming for what is essentially a cosmetics shop. There are 204 Triumphs in Monument of Triumph total, each rewarding 15+ Marks. Archie's Triumph nets 10. You will need many more before the good stuff unlocks.

Archie was inspired by a real dog named Artemis. Bungie added him to the game through a Make-A-Wish request, making him arguably the only NPC in Destiny 2 with a legitimate reason to exist. He is the Destiny 2 Tower robot dog: the sole interactable animal NPC in the game. He was created by Rasputin, an ancient AI that spent centuries defending humanity before being destroyed. Archie outlived him. The dog beat the warmind. Consider that.
Tracking the Archie Tower Bazaar location requires understanding his nomadic history. He originally lived near Ada-1's Synthweave shop. Then the Into the Light update moved him, launching a separate hunt Triumph called "Where in the System is Archie?" that involved following glowing paw prints across destinations. Now, with Monument of Triumph, he has settled in the Bazaar with Lodi. Whether this is permanent is a matter between Bungie and whatever passes for a dog's lease agreement.
Before farming anything, log in and visit the Special Deliveries kiosk between Banshee-44 and Master Rahool. New or returning players get 50 Legendary Marks, two Bright Engrams, and the Toast to the Monument emblem for free. The Can You Pet the Dog triumph guide is step one of a much larger grind, but it is the least miserable step. The scenic spot Triumphs across destinations each award 10 Marks and require zero combat. Do those before touching anything with a recommended Power level.
Tower Bazaar, far end, next to Lodi. Red rugs. Can't miss it unless you try.
Find Archie by Lodi, press interact, select Good Boy Protocol. Claim reward manually in the Journey menu.
10 Legendary Marks. Enough to remind you how many more Triumphs you haven't done yet.
Spent at four Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard for shaders, exotic weapons, ornaments, and cosmetics.
Yes. Same robot dog, different chair. Bungie keeps moving him and calling it content.
