Requirements Before You Even Start

You need Cursed Tier 2 or higher active. You need to have finished the main quest up to the murder mystery step. You need patience, because this relic does not care about your schedule.

• Bring upgraded weapons and armor because the trial ahead is round 60 difficulty regardless of your actual round.

Trigger the Relic

Get the murder mystery right the first time. Defeat the Onryo miniboss afterward. When you respawn the dragon flies in, eats the egg, and drops the Path of Sorrows katana for you to pick up. That katana is your only tool for the next hour of your life.

Find the Japanese Symbols

Six possible spawn spots exist, but only three symbols appear per match. Search the outer ward wooden plank, the collapsed building corner in the stables, the workshop wall, the flower garden rock face, the tenshu eaves wall near the roofing, and the storage rooms wooden wall.

The game shows the correct activation order onscreen through a background gameplay clip. Match the symbols left to right before you touch anything.

Wait for an Oni to spawn, ideally near the end of a round so it does not get buried under other zombies. When the Oni does its charged attack, block it with the katana. This electrifies the blade. Melee the symbol immediately after and it turns red. Repeat for all three symbols in the exact order shown, reusing the same charge if you are fast enough.

Get the order wrong and nothing explodes, nothing breaks, the game just quietly ignores you. There is no punishment animation, only silence and wasted time. Triple check the onscreen order before you swing.

The Portal and the Trial

Correct symbol activation triggers Mr. Peeks laughing somewhere in the distance, and a red portal spawns in the Onsen Baths. Interacting with it in solo, or voting beginner in multiplayer, drops you straight into the Mr Peeks trial: six tiers of insanity, all running at round 60 difficulty no matter your actual progress.

The parry key is melee, not aim down sights, so stop mashing the wrong button. On PC that is V by default. Gobble gums like Near Death Experience and Instakill make tier six survivable instead of theoretical.

The Boss Fight, Again, But Worse

This is the same Onryo boss fight energy as the main easter egg, except now it is timed and the difficulty is cranked. Bring the M34 Novaline and XM 325 Warby if you have them, they are both strong picks against the dragon. Communicate with your squad or watch the timer run out on your face.

Reward: Was It Worth It

Equipping the relic in future cursed matches adds fire damage to your melee attacks. It also grants a 10 percent chance for melee kills to explode, dealing fire damage to nearby enemies, which is genuinely useful for crowd control in corridors.
