BO7 Dark Ops Season 3 Guide

Black Ops 7 Season 3 arrived on April 2, 2026, and among the pile of content Activision confidently launched your way was a batch of three new Dark Ops challenges buried inside Endgame. Not tucked away politely — buried, the way a landmine is buried. They are tied exclusively to Operation Poison Pill, a structured multi-match progression system that demands you complete nine increasingly unpleasant steps before the finale even deigns to show itself. You cannot skip. You cannot rush. You can, however, suffer at a consistent, dignified pace.

The reward for all this suffering? An animated Grim Reaper calling card. Because nothing says "I have invested too many hours in this game" like a small glowing rectangle at the character select screen. But you want it. We both know you want it. So here's how you get it without crying.

Combat Rating 60 or higher. Tier 3 Exotic Skills. AAROW 109 Launcher (exotic). Exotic Fabricator used before entering. Self-revives packed. Crash Cart ability available. If you go in underleveled, the mission will not care.

The Three Dark Ops Challenges

All three BO7 Dark Ops in Season 3 are contained within the Link Fortress mission. You can, theoretically, unlock all three in a single run if you are both skilled and lucky — two qualities that rarely overlap in the same player at the same time.

Dark Ops 01: Endgame

Go Fetch

In the first sector of the Link Fortress Glitch, shielded dogs — the Glitch DAWG enemies — deploy equipment at you. Grenades. Thrown objects. The kind of thing a well-behaved enemy would keep to themselves. Pick up the thrown equipment and throw it back. The reflected projectile destroys the dog's shield. The challenge unlocks. It is, against all odds, the most pleasant of the three.

You do not need to kill the dog with the reflected equipment. You only need the shield to break. A single returned grenade is sufficient. The game practically hands this one to you while insulting you about the other two.

Reward: Dark Ops Calling Card

Dark Ops 02: Endgame

Complete the entire Link Fortress solo. No teammates. No backup. No one to blame but the developers and your own life choices. The mission scales for solo play — you only need eight Glitch Fractures in the final arena instead of the co-op-scaled amount — so the game is at least aware of your suffering and has made a small gesture toward acknowledging it.

A fully upgraded operator makes this achievable. The Ballistic Shell major ability is particularly useful for the area defense section. Berserker and Gunner skill tracks help sustain damage output. Bring a Shattered Shield exotic skill if you have one. The mission is long. It is lonely. Finish it anyway.

Animated Calling Card: Elusive

In co-op, the Grim Reaper calling card becomes considerably easier to earn because the boss spreads aggression across multiple targets. Keep your distance from the boss while teammates bait its attention. In solo, you are the only target, which means the boss's social life revolves entirely around you. Maintain distance. Prioritize movement over damage. One stun ends the challenge for that run — there are no partial credits here.

Rewards Summary

Below is everything you can unlock from the Operation Poison Pill rewards and Link Fortress completion. Collecting all three Override skins requires running the Endgame co-op mission three times with three separate operators. Each operator now has an individually assigned loadout in Season 3, so plan your builds in advance rather than assuming you can swap gear between Grimm and Mason at the last second.

Restore Tokens (new consumable)

Consumable

Restore Tokens are a new Season 3 consumable that allow you to recover lost progress — including Skills and Loadouts — after a wipe. Combined with the new CR loss cap of 15 per wipe (down from a number that made grown adults reconsider their hobbies), the Endgame operator progression grind in Season 3 is technically less punishing than it was. Note that Nightmare and Exotic Skills still vanish entirely on death regardless. The game gives with one hand and shrugs apologetically with the other.

Tips That May Prevent Embarrassment

A brief collection of advice for players who prefer to learn from someone else's humiliation rather than cultivating their own.

  • For Elusive: do not attempt it until you have watched the boss's launch animation at least twice and know its range. Running at the wrong moment because you panicked will cost you the entire run. The game is watching.
  • For Single Threaded: the Ballistic Shell ability is not optional for the defense phase. Attempting the area defense without it while solo is an exercise in statistical futility. Bring it. Deploy it correctly. Do not be heroic about it.
  • For Go Fetch: stand close enough to the dog that you can actually pick up the equipment it deploys. It will feel counterintuitive. Stand there anyway. The shield break registers immediately when the thrown item connects.
  • World Event for Step 9: monitor the minimap for Z-Rex and Colossus event markers. They spawn once per match in Zone 4. Coordinate with your squad before the match starts, not mid-event while someone is already dead.
  • Disciple mini-boss: it calls airstrikes. The airstrike area is marked. Move out of the marked area. This is not complicated, but people still get hit by it because they were shooting and forgot to also be alive.
  • CR loss cap: at 15 CR per wipe, the combat rating system BO7 has been made survivable. Nightmare and Exotic Skills still delete on death. Do not treat the cap as permission to play recklessly.
  • Portal access: once you've cleared the Oscar fight and opened the Old Arsenal portal, it stays open permanently. You never have to redo Steps 1–9 on the same account. Small mercy. Accept it quietly.

BO7 Dark Ops Season 3 Guide FAQ

Can I unlock all three Dark Ops in a single Link Fortress run?

Yes. All three coexist in the same mission. A single flawless solo run covers all of them simultaneously.

Does getting stunned once automatically fail the Elusive challenge?

Yes. One stun ends it for that run. Exit, reenter the portal, and try again without crying visibly.

What Combat Rating do I need before attempting Link Fortress?

A minimum of CR 60 with Tier 3 Exotic Skills is the standard recommendation. Anything lower and the enemies will notice.

Is Endgame free to play in Season 3?

Yes, temporarily. Warzone players can access it from the main menu for a limited time without owning Black Ops 7.
