ARC Raiders Dolabra Shotgun & Canto SMG Guide
The Assessor is here in Close Scrutiny mode. Follow the red beams, survive the new Vaporizers, and claim the Dolabra blueprint - if you can.
Close Scrutiny is a brand-new type of major map condition called an ARC Operation, introduced on March 31, 2026. It is distinct from the standard map conditions you have been sleepwalking through since launch. The map looks deceptively calm at first: deliberately so: because the Assessor has not arrived yet. But it will. And when it does, every person on that server will sprint toward it like it personally insulted their family.
The Assessor location ARC Raiders is not a fixed point on any map. It descends dynamically. Here is what to watch for, explained slowly, because apparently that is necessary.
The Close Scrutiny ARC Operation guide would be incomplete without a frank discussion of the enemies that have been assigned to ruin your experience. Embark Studios did not make the Assessor a serene loot piñata. They surrounded it with a curated selection of suffering.

Threat |

What It Does |
Recommended Response |
|
Vaporizer |
New flying ARC unit |
Fires a sustained laser beam: not a burst, a sustained beam: while you are trying to loot a cone while also being shot by three other things |
Move constantly. Energy Ammo weapons from this update are the intended counter. Crying is also an option but less effective. |
|
ARC Ground Patrols |
Standard + reinforced |
Unprecedented patrol density around the Assessor. The official patch notes used the word "unprecedented." Believe them. |
Clear before climbing. Or do not. Your funeral, your choice. |
|
Shredders |
Escaped from Stella Montis |
Previously confined to one map. Now loose across Blue Gate, Buried City, Spaceport, and Dam Battlegrounds. Tanky shotgun enemies with no respect for your health bar. |
Two Hullcracker hits to drop one. The official ARC Raiders account called them the deadliest ARC type. They were not joking. |
|
Other Players |
Human catastrophe |
Every squad on the server funnels toward the same objective. Close Scrutiny is a PvP magnet by design. |
Be faster, be quieter, or be second. Waiting for the third Assessor is not cowardice. It is tactics. Tell yourself that. |

Let us have an honest conversation about the ARC Raiders Assessor loot guide, because the loot pool is not enormous. The Assessor does not overflow with gear. It does not rain legendary items. What it offers is extremely high tier within a small selection: quality over quantity, which is a distinction that will feel meaningless when you die before reaching a single cone.
The primary incentive, beyond bragging rights nobody cares about, is the Dolabra blueprint. This energy shotgun with variable focus: wide burst or focused electrical beam: drops through the Close Scrutiny map condition. It is not available casually. You have to run the Assessor to get it, which is precisely the kind of cruel design decision that makes a game memorable.
The Assessor's loot pool is high tier but not large. If the first one is overrun: and it will be: wait for the second or third. They fall across the map. The beams in the sky are your guide. Follow the beams. Try not to die on the way there.
Here is a how to survive Close Scrutiny ARC Raiders breakdown presented with the sincere hope that you will actually read it before loading in and charging directly into the beam of a Vaporizer.

No fixed location. It descends dynamically during Close Scrutiny. Find it by tracking its red beams shooting into the sky.
New flying ARC with a sustained laser. Keep moving, never stand still, and use Energy Ammo weapons introduced in the Flashpoint update.
Best drop chance is through Close Scrutiny, not guaranteed per run. Survive enough runs and probability will eventually cooperate. Eventually.
Multiple units descend throughout the match. After the first lands, additional Assessors fall across the map. Check the sky regularly for beams.
You can. Whether you should is a different question. Solo runs against a defended Assessor surrounded by full squads are exercises in optimism.
