Apophic Soul Crusher Mount Guide: WoW Patch 12.1

The Apophic Soul Crusheris the WoW 12.1 Midnight Season 2 mount tied to the new Delve Nemesis: a venomous horror called Azta'rec. You solo it. Yes, solo. If that sentence gave you pause, close this tab and queue for LFR.

There is exactly one way to get this mount: earn Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec by defeating Azta'rec in his lair on Tier ?? difficulty with no other players in your party, before Midnight Season 2 ends. No shortcuts. No group carry. Just you, your cooldowns, and Blizzard's sadistic level designer.

Time-gated reality check: The Fabled variant of this achievement (and the "Fabled Vanquisher of Azta'rec" title) requires a solo Tier ?? kill within the first week of Season 2. Unlike Season 1's top-4000-region cap, this version is open to anyone fast enough. Season 2 hasn't launched yet as of patch 12.1 PTR. Prepare now.

Full PTR testing data isn't available yet since the fight isn't tunable on the test server. What's been datamined is enough to understand what's going to kill you.

Noxious Bile

Cone of poison, 185,104 Nature damage, applies stacks of Ula'tek's Gift. On Tier ??, also spawns persistent poison pools. Don't stand in them. (Yes, this requires saying.)

Sermon of Ula'Tek

Azta'rec performs a ceremony, releasing waves of venom in a pattern for 10-17 seconds, hitting for 154,253 Nature damage per wave. Learn the pattern or enjoy the respawn screen.

Summon Echo of Azta'rec

He spawns a copy of himself. Priority kill it, or your DPS check becomes a suicide note.

Ula'tek's Gift stacks from Noxious Bile will likely be the solo delve nemesis soft enrage: the longer the fight drags, the more the DoT accelerates your funeral. Burn through phases.

1. Complete a Tier 8 delve with at least one life remaining to unlock Tier ? difficulty.
2. Complete a Tier 10 delve with at least one life remaining to unlock Tier ?? difficulty.
3. The nemesis lair location will be revealed in patch 12.1 when Season 2 launches. Based on Season 1 precedent, expect it in one of Midnight's core zones.

Azta'rec can also randomly invade higher-tier delves (Tier 8+). If you haven't done your homework when he shows up uninvited, congratulations on your free lesson.

Valeera: Your One Ally

You're soloing this, but Valeera Sanguinar accompanies you as your delve companion. Her role setting matters. General guidance from Season 1's Nullaeus nemesis: the structural predecessor to this fight:

• Tank/DPS: Set Valeera to Healer. She covers dispels and removes debuffs, so you don't have to juggle mechanics yourself.
• Healer: Set Valeera to DPS so she handles interrupts. You'll manage dispels manually.
• Ranged DPS: Depends on your interrupt cooldown. If it's short, Valeera as DPS handles add interrupts; if long, go Healer and cover interrupts yourself.

With Azta'rec's poison-heavy kit, a Healer Valeera will likely be the default for most specs. The Valeera companion setup can be adjusted at Delver's Headquarters in Silvermoon City before the run.

Curio picks (Season 1 baseline, apply same logic): Porcelain Blade Tip for crit, Sanctum's Edict for a 30% absorb shield at max stacks, Time Lost Edict for movement speed and cooldown reduction. With Azta'rec's cone + pool mechanics, movement speed is not optional: it's survival.

For completeness: Season 1 still active? The Big Prey Hunter (Season 1) FoS was added in patch 12.0.7 for completing the Prey Journey before Season 2 starts. If you haven't touched that, you're losing a permanent FoS while reading a guide. Priorities.

Pre-Season 2 Checklist

Before Azta'rec delve boss is even attackable, this is what you owe yourself:

Gear

• Season 1 Nullaeus precedent: 255 ilvl for Tier ?, no stated floor for Tier ?? but expect 274+ to be comfortable.
• Stack Myth-track gear now. Tier ?? will punish anything below that. Nature resistance or absorbs from crafted pieces are a genuine consideration versus this boss's kit.
• Crafted gear via Sparks of Radiance caps at 272 base (259 + 80 Hero Dawncrests). If you want Midnight Season 2 mount Week 1, you need to be over-prepared, not exactly prepared.

Delve Prerequisite

·        Clear a Tier 10 delve with a life remaining to unlock the lair. Don't show up day one without this done.

·        Understand the Flicker mechanics in your delve runs: Flickergates and Sanctioned Banners are Season 2 interactable objects. Learn them on normal runs, not during Azta'rec attempts.

Valeera

• Raise Valeera to level 70+ before Season 2. The Buddy System VII achievement requires level 70; level 80 for Buddy System VIII. Neither is optional if you care about account-wide completionism.
• Choose your curios before entering. Swapping inside the lair is not a thing.
