Step 1: Unlocking the Swamp Region

Before you can start planting your garden, you will need to progress a little bit through the game's main story. Farming resources are located in the swamp, which becomes accessible right after you defeat the second boss—the Coastal Jungle boss. Once you have successfully conquered that challenge, the game will guide you forward into the swamp area.

Step 2: Finding Seeds in the Swamp

Once you arrive in the beautiful (if slightly muddy) swamp biome, you will want to keep an eye out for a specific landmark.

• The Goal: Look for a Point of Interest (POI) known as a Ruin with a flowerbed.
• The Reward: Simply approaching this beautiful little ruin will immediately unlock a helpful new recipe for you. This is exactly where you want to go if you are looking for beans and other excellent starter crops!

Step 3: Gathering Seeds and Fertile Soil

Now that you have found the flowerbed, it is time to do some gathering. Here is how to get your farm up and running:

• Collect Seeds, Not Just Crops: In Windrose, you cannot simply plant a raw vegetable straight into the ground. Instead, you will want to harvest the wild plants around the ruin until they drop bean seeds and leek seeds.
• Gathering Your Dirt: While you are exploring the swamp flowerbed, you will notice plenty of soil lying around. Grab as much as you can! If you find yourself needing a larger supply of fertile dirt for a bigger home setup, we highly recommend visiting the Ancient Farms scattered throughout the Foothills.

Step 4: Building Your Seedbed

With your seeds and soil safely in hand, head back to your base. Open up your building menu and look for the seedbed recipe. Once you construct your seedbed and fill it with your gathered soil, you can plant your seeds and watch your hard work turn into a bountiful harvest!
