SWTOR Nar Shaddaa Nightlife 2026: Slots, Rewards & Quests
The 7.9 meta has spoken. Some classes are carrying operations; others are just there for the raid buff. Here's every spec ranked, brutally and honestl

You picked a class. You leveled it. You optimized the gear. And now patch 7.9 dropped and half your work is irrelevant. Welcome to SWTOR class tier list season, where the developers giveth and the balance team taketh away, usually in the same update. This guide covers every relevant spec for both PvE Operations and PvP Warzones under Game Update 7.9 "Legacy Reborn": launched June 2, 2026. No fairy tales. No "all classes are viable." Some are not.
SWTOR now uses Combat Styles: the artist formerly known as Advanced Classes: meaning your Origin Story no longer chains you to two specs. You want a Sith Warrior who shoots like a Bounty Hunter? Go ahead. The game allows it. Your group does not have to.
Parse sites don't lie, and neither does this list. The best DPS class in SWTOR argument ends quickly when you look at Parsley logs: Hatred Assassin and its Republic mirror Serenity Shadow consistently top single-target dummy parses, and Pyrotech Powertech remains the most played and overall effective sustained DPS in Operations: largely because its passive leech damage from Pyro Shield gives free DPS during AoE phases that doesn't show up on the dummy but absolutely matters in a raid.

|
S |
Pyrotech Powertech |
DPS |
Most effective overall. Passive raid damage. Stop asking why everyone plays this. |
|
S |
Annihilation Marauder |
DPS |
Off-heals that bail out struggling healers, two raid buffs. Carry spec with manners. |
|
S |
Vengeance Juggernaut |
DPS |
Best AoE in game via Cut to Pieces. Add phases are its personal dinner table. |
|
A |
Hatred Assassin |
DPS |
Highest single-target parse in the game. Dies in a stiff breeze. Choose accordingly. |
|
A |
Virulence Sniper |
DPS |
Best ranged DPS. Ballistic Shield makes your whole raid marginally less dead. |
|
A |
Engineering Sniper |
DPS |
Insane numbers, group utility, permanent ranged luxury. Sits next to Virulence comfortably. |
|
A |
Lethality Operative |
DPS |
Tankier than Hatred, decent AoE, solid sustained. Off-heals removed in 7.8 hurt it. |
|
B |
AP Powertech |
DPS |
5k+ DPS behind Hatred on dummy. Bring Pyro instead. Or don't, no one can stop you. |
|
B |
Fury Marauder |
DPS |
Strong burst. Fine spec. Just not the era it used to dominate. |
|
C |
Lightning Sorcerer |
DPS |
Got damage buffs in 7.8. Still miles behind Madness in AoE and survivability. |
|
D |
Marksman Sniper |
DPS |
Got buffed this patch because it was embarrassing. Still third of three Sniper specs. |
The Lethality Operative nerf in 7.8 stripped its primary off-healing via the Aggressive Treatment tactical. It lost the group utility that kept it competitive next to Powertechs. It still does good damage. It just no longer single-handedly compensates for a bad healer.

Tanking in SWTOR's current endgame comes down to defensive cooldowns, threat generation, and utility. The SWTOR best tank 2026 conversation is short: Darkness Assassin is the top PvE tank, with exceptional cooldowns and self-healing. Shield Tech is the beginner-friendly partner spec you pair with it in two-tank Operations. Immortal Juggernaut rounds out the trio: functional, not optimal.

Darkness Assassin |
TANK |
Best cooldown kit, self-sustain, and evasion. Skill floor is real though. |
|
A |
Shield Tech Powertech |
TANK |
Simple rotation. Pair with Darkness. Its Stealth Scan ruins every stealther's day. |
|
B |
Immortal Juggernaut |
TANK |
Lowest of the three. Decent damage. Gets squishier in NiM than it should be. |
All three tanks are viable for everything up to and including Hard Mode Operations. Nightmare Mode content exposes Immortal's weaknesses more aggressively. If you're just doing Master Flashpoints and story, pick whichever one has the cooldown animations you enjoy watching.
All three SWTOR healer specs ranked are legitimately usable. The gap between top and bottom is smaller here than in DPS. The real question is: what kind of healer do you want to be? Bodyguard Mercenary is the tank among healers: three lives, incredible defensive cooldowns, lower mechanical ceiling. Medicine Operative got buffed in 7.7 and competes for the top spot at high skill levels. Corruption Sorcerer got its force management quietly nerfed and dropped a peg.

S |
Bodyguard Mercenary |
HEAL |
Best defensive cooldowns. Stays in the fight longer. Forgiving. Three lives. |
|
S |
Medicine Operative |
HEAL |
Highest HPS ceiling with skill. Best off-DPS. Gets squishy if you stand wrong. |
|
B |
Corruption Sorcerer |
HEAL |
Force nerf means you run dry faster. Good kit, worse sustained output. Still functional. |
PvP Season 10 launched with 7.9. The SWTOR PvP tier list patch 7.9 meta is dominated by two things: ranged specs that kite infinitely, and Immortal Juggernaut breaking the definition of "tank." Virulence Sniper is the best spec for 8v8 Warzones: you see it in almost every match. Madness Sorcerer was lightly nerfed but remains oppressive: all its CC is baked into the rotation, melees struggle against it, and its passive damage reduction makes it survive things it shouldn't.
Immortal Juggernaut in PvP is an actual problem. It does 20,000+ DPS while being a tank. It can kill you single-target, which other tanks cannot. If you're dying to an Immortal Jugg and wondering what happened: that's what happened.

Notes |
|
S |
Virulence Sniper |
Best 8v8 spec. Dominant range. Everywhere, every match. |
|
S |
Madness Sorcerer |
Nerfed. Still S-tier. CC in rotation, kites everything melee. |
|
S |
Immortal Juggernaut |
A tank that kills you. Insane. The balance team is aware. |
|
S |
Bodyguard Mercenary |
Three lives in PvP. Three. Cannot be pressured to death normally. |
|
A |
Pyrotech Powertech |
Nerfed from S (fuel tactical). Still strong. Melee hurts it vs ranged meta. |
|
A |
Lethality Operative |
Shreds in tank-heal stalemates. Single target is weak. Niche but real. |
|
A |
Shield Tech Powertech |
Stealth Scan is the most anti-fun ability in current PvP. You're welcome. |
|
B |
AP Powertech |
Not S. Not A. Solid. Just not hitting what Pyro and Madness are hitting. |
The SWTOR combat styles guide people never stop asking about: yes, you can mix and match. No, it doesn't automatically make you stronger. Most competitive players stick to the best spec of a single Combat Style and ignore the secondary unless it provides an emergency toolkit: a second stealth, a tank cooldown on a DPS, or an off-heal.
For new players: The best class for beginners in SWTOR is Mercenary/Commando. Both DPS and healing specs are forgiving, the resource system (heat/ammo) is intuitive, and Bodyguard heals are powerful without requiring flawless positioning. Play Sorcerer if you want to feel like you're winning fights by existing near them.
For endgame SWTOR Operations best specs composition, the standard is two tanks, two healers, four DPS. Beyond that, specific fights reward specific utility. Here is what competent groups bring:
SWTOR 7.9 patch notes introduced PvP Season 10 alongside the finale story set on Khar Shian, a new Dynamic Encounter on Ryloth, and Galactic Season 10. On the class balance side, 7.9 arrived after the significant realignment of 7.8, which buffed Sorcerer/Sage DPS across the board (Lightning Flash up 10%, Thundering Blast up 5%) and nerfed Lethality's off-healing capability. The major 7.9 balance effects visible in the current meta:

Pyrotech Powertech for sustained PvE. Hatred Assassin for single-target parsing. Virulence Sniper for PvP.
Yes. It does tank-tier survivability and 20k DPS simultaneously. It kills people single-target. That's the situation.
Bodyguard if you want safety. Medicine if you want maximum output and can handle positioning. Both are S-tier.
Yes, in Story and Veteran modes. In Master Flashpoints and NiM Ops, your group will feel it. Bring snacks.
8.0 has been mentioned by the Executive Producer. Class guide overhauls are planned. Assume nothing is permanent.
