PoE2 Breach Farm Guide 0.5.3: 30+ Divines Per Hour
Patch 0.5.4 added the Orb of Sacrifice. It upgrades corrupted enchantments at the cost of a random explicit mod. Farm it from Atziri or buy it. Guide

The Orb of Sacrifice was added in patch 0.5.4. It targets corrupted items exclusively and performs one function: it removes a random explicit modifier and upgrades the item's corrupted enchantment to a stronger tier in exchange. If the item carries two enchantments from a double-corruption, you can upgrade both: one orb per enchantment.
There are four variants, each restricted to a specific item class. You do not choose which explicit gets deleted. The game does not negotiate. The ideal use case for poe2 orb of sacrifice corrupted items is an item already carrying a godly corrupted implicit but wasted on a garbage explicit you won't miss.
The removed explicit is random. If you have five useful mods and one filler, the game will remove the filler roughly 20% of the time. Plan around the other 80%.

There is one source: Atziri's Vault, obtained by killing Atziri, the Red Queen. The vault has a chance to drop one of the four orb variants after the kill. There is no vendor recipe, no league mechanic alternative, no guaranteed farm loop. You run the vault, you kill Atziri, and sometimes the game rewards this with an orb. Sometimes it does not.
This is the complete guide to how to get orb of sacrifice poe2: kill Atziri. Repeat. Sell excess drops to buy the specific variant you need. The currency exchange exists precisely because RNG has no loyalty.
Reminder This orb only works on already-corrupted items. If your item is not corrupted, nothing happens except you wasted a currency that Atziri took an afternoon to drop.
Before spending an Orb of Sacrifice, understand what you already have. A Vaal Orb corrupts an item through one of four outcome buckets: add a corrupted enchantment, reroll affixes, push the item beyond normal limits (extra socket or quality shift), or nothing. The item is then permanently locked from standard crafting currency. This is the baseline all poe2 corruption guide content starts from.
For the second layer, the Architect's Orb attempts to add a second corrupted enchantment at a 50/50 odds: the failure state destroys the item entirely. The Orb of Sacrifice is a third layer: your item survived, it has an enchantment, and you want that enchantment stronger. The price is one explicit. The game picks which one.

|
Currency |
What It Does |
Failure Risk |
|
Vaal Orb |
Single corruption: enchantment, affix reroll, socket mod, or nothing |
Low (item survives all outcomes) |
|
Architect's Orb |
50% adds second enchantment, 50% destroys item |
High (item destroyed on fail) |
|
Orb of Sacrifice |
Upgrades corrupted enchantment, removes random explicit |
Medium (item survives but loses a mod) |
The ideal target for poe2 orb of sacrifice best use is an item where the corrupted enchantment is the most valuable thing on it, and at least one explicit is a filler mod you would remove anyway if you could. That scenario is less common than the forums will have you believe.
Double-corrupted items get two uses: one orb upgrades one enchantment. Both enchantments can be upgraded by using two orbs sequentially. Each use still removes a random explicit. Factor that into the math before you click anything.
A 20% chance to delete the right mod on a five-explicit item is not a strategy. It is optimism with a currency cost attached.
Atziri requires a character capable of handling her Vault's boss fight reliably. Below is the minimum viable approach for consistent atziri vault poe2 farm runs.
While Atziri is the orb's only source, sustaining the overall poe2 endgame currency farming loop around it requires map income. The standard approach: Tier 16 maps with high item quantity, Cartographer's Chisels applied to 20% quality, Alchemy Orb to roll the map, Sextants for additional monster packs, and Scarabs stacked for mechanic density. This income pays for temple access and supplements what Atziri's Vault provides.
The Orb of Sacrifice is not locked to self-found play. If your build clears maps faster than it clears Atziri's Vault, farm currency in maps and buy the orb. This is not laziness. This is poe2 trade league currency strategy functioning as designed.

No. The removed explicit is random. The game picks. You watch. That is the mechanic.
Atziri's Vault only, after killing Atziri, the Red Queen. One drop source. No alternatives currently.
No. Item must already be corrupted and carry a corrupted enchantment. Otherwise the orb does nothing.
Yes. One orb per enchantment. Each use removes a separate random explicit. Budget accordingly.
Only if at least one explicit is genuinely expendable. Otherwise you are gambling perfection for marginal gains.
