PoE 2 Divine Orb Farm Guide
PoE2 0.5.4 is live: 24-node Expedition Atlas Tree, Liquid Verisium, Verisium Sentries, unique item downscaling, Orb of Sacrifice from Atziri...

GGG noticed Expedition had the depth of a puddle. Their fix: a dedicated Expedition Atlas Passive Tree with 24 nodes, 12 of them Notables, bolted onto the Runes of Aldur league. You unlock points by clearing The Grand Expedition questline bosses. Congratulations: you now have yet another tree to agonize over.
The first decision the tree forces on you is a binary: more Remnant encounters or higher Expedition spawn rates on your maps. Pick the one your build actually rewards. Remnants feed rune-chase crafting; raw Expeditions are faster loot velocity.
|
Node / Mechanic |
What It Does |
Worth It? |
|
Feeling Lucky? |
Farrow starts selling Liquid Verisium: rerolls Runic Inscriptions for a mystery reward. Spends your pile of Verisium, which by now is embarrassing. |
Yes, unless you enjoy staring at bad rewards. |
|
Verisium Sentries |
Buried sentries appear during Expeditions. Unearthing them adds extra Runic Power to nearby enemies and inflates rewards. Inflates danger too. |
Only if your build is not a liability. |
|
Third Modifier (Grand) |
Grand Expeditions can roll a third map modifier instead of the usual two. |
Yes. More modifiers, more loot. |
|
Explosive Efficiency |
Fewer monsters required before the explosive line advances. Faster encounters, same rewards. |
Yes for anyone who has places to be. |
|
Pre-Damaged Enemies |
Unearthed enemies spawn with 25% life already missing. Explosions hurt. This helps. |
Yes. Less tanky mobs, same loot. |
|
Remnant Chain Control |
Choose between blocking Runic Modifier propagation entirely, or passing two modifiers down the chain instead of one. |
Depends entirely on how much pain you enjoy. |
The "extra explosive or extra remnant" choice node is early on the tree. Take the explosive if you run dense maps. Take the remnant if you're chain-farming rune rewards. Neither is wrong. Both feel wrong when you pick the other one.
Once you unlock the relevant Atlas node, Farrow sells Liquid Verisium in Act 4 town hubs and hideouts. Its sole purpose: spend the Verisium you've been hoarding since the league launched to reroll Runic Inscriptions you hate into random ones you might also hate, but differently. The encounter fires immediately on use.
Think of it as a currency sink with upside. You have Verisium. You have bad Runic Inscriptions. This is the valve between them. Buy, reroll, complain, repeat.
The result is random. "Mystery reward" is game-director for "we are not telling you what you get." Manage expectations accordingly.
Since 0.1, players have been logging off, finding a pinnacle-drop unique, realizing they cannot equip it on a fresh character, and logging back off. That feature is now corrected. As of 0.5.4, unique items that grant skills scale their skill level down to match lower-level characters, flooring at the minimum level requirement of the item itself.
The practical impact: a Lifesprig granting Level 20 Mana Drain can now be equipped at level 1, granting Level 1 Mana Drain instead. A pinnacle unique can be handed to your fresh alt the moment it meets the minimum level. The game calls this a quality-of-life improvement. It is also quietly an admission that the previous system was absurd.
Existing items with the scaling change: update them with a Divine Orb if you want the new values on older versions. New modifiers only generate on freshly obtained items. The game is consistent about making you want the fresh version.
The first of several promised Vessel of Kulemak uniques has arrived. The Master's Reach are gloves that drop from the Vessel of Kulemak when he's fully empowered by all three Liches. Do not take the Finger early. You will regret it and have no gloves.
The Master's Reach grants its own skill, Untether, which plants a seed of Abyssal Energy into an enemy's heart. Kill them: or deal enough damage: and the heart detonates for heavy physical AoE damage. The gloves also reveal weaknesses on Rare and Unique enemies, displayed as marked segments on their health bar, functioning identically to the Huntress Ascendancy's Predatory Instinct passive. Hit a weakness and you recoup 100% of damage taken from that enemy as life. Land it and you also eat their soul for bonus skill speed.
To farm The Master's Reach you need Kulemak's Invitation (100% drop from Tasgul or Vandroth in level 79+ Abyssal Depths, or buy one for 15–20 Exalted Orbs), complete the full gauntlet with all three Liches, return the Finger at Full Strength, and win. The invitation is consumed on entry. If you die broke, that is on you.
Atziri's Vault now has a chance to drop one of four Orb of Sacrifice variants after killing Atziri, the Red Queen. Each orb does the same deranged thing: it removes a random explicit modifier from a corrupted item and in exchange upgrades the existing corrupted enchantment to a significantly more powerful tier.
The intended use case is an item with a great corrupted implicit but a weak explicit mod. You sacrifice the explicit, the enchantment gets stronger. If the item has been double-corrupted and carries two enchantments, you can upgrade both by using two orbs. The risks are self-explanatory and GGG is aware you will complain about them.
|
Scenario |
What To Do |
Risk |
|
Great implicit, weak explicit |
Use one Orb of Sacrifice |
Lose the explicit. Gain better implicit tier. Net positive probable. |
|
Double-corrupted, two enchants |
Use two orbs |
Lose two random explicits. Gain two upgraded enchants. Coin flip at scale. |
|
BiS explicit on corrupted item |
Do not use the orb |
You're gambling your best item. Stop. |
The removed explicit is random. The game does not ask which one. Plan accordingly or lose something you liked.
Grand Expedition encounters received specific Atlas tree support. The new tree lets you push them to roll a third modifier, previously capped at two. Additional notable passives reduce the kill count threshold before explosives chain forward, cutting encounter time without touching loot. Doryani's Refined Formula Atlas Master option now caps Grand Expeditions at five explosives: less chaos, more control, still dangerous.
Grand Expeditions now also include one to two Expedition Map Modifiers, raising their baseline value even before you invest Atlas points into them. If Expedition is your primary income strategy, the Grand variant with a full Atlas investment is now the obvious destination.
GGG confirmed 0.5.4 is their last major patch before PoE2 patch 0.5.5, which launches alongside a one-month event with a fresh economy. A new league start, a reset, and a new meta to argue about. The Master's Reach is also the first of multiple Vessel of Kulemak uniques GGG has promised. Expect the remaining ones to arrive with or around 0.5.5.
Pinnacle boss resistances were also quietly lowered across the board in 0.5.4: they were unintentionally too high. If your previously-struggling build suddenly clears better, that is why, and GGG would like credit for fixing it.

Defeat each boss in The Grand Expedition questline. Each kill grants Atlas Passive Points for this tree.
Yes: equip it once you meet the item's minimum level. Its granted skill scales down to match your current character level.
Drop from the fully empowered Vessel of Kulemak. Requires Kulemak's Invitation and completing all three Lich phases.
A random explicit modifier. You do not choose which one. Upgrade the corrupted enchantment or cry: your call.
A new currency sold by Farrow that immediately starts a Remnant encounter with a random Runic Inscription, skipping the normal reveal.
