Fixed (GGG "reviewing later") |
The City Biome tablet effect nodes on the Atlas passive tree did absolutely nothing. Not a little: nothing. You were running city maps and getting 24% less effectiveness on every stat that runs through your tablet setup: monster rarity, pack size, all of it. Fixed in 0.5.3.
The practical result is that every city map is now meaningfully juicier than it was before the patch. On stacked builds the loot difference compounds: expect somewhere between 30-40% more loot on average in city maps versus pre-patch, depending on your exact setup and how your multipliers interact.
For Doryani users specifically: The 50% tablet effect threshold that previously required Hilda or Jato is now reached passively. Your maps will always roll at +3 random modifiers from the "map has two additional random modifiers" tablet. You no longer need specific Atlas masters to hit this breakpoint. Doryani is now a viable solo choice for Abyss and Breach strategies.
The "Are you sure you want to do that?" Atlas passive no longer grants double tablet effect in Grand Mirror areas. It now guarantees a Delirium Mirror instead. This is a PoE2 endgame juicing nerf dressed in a QoL costume, and the trade is roughly fair: but only if you care about Delirium.
Your old strategy of deliberately spawning Grand Mirrors inside cities to stack ridiculous tablet multipliers is gone. Stop doing it. The new correct play is to rush city-to-city and treat Grand Mirrors as Delirium triggers, not tablet amplifiers.
You still want Grand Mirrors to proc Delirium. Delirium scales absurdly well and the 0.5.3 Delirium buffs (see below) make this even more true. You simply no longer care whether the mirror lands inside a city.
Before 0.5.3, monsters spawned from purple "Pure Emotions" mirror shards were bugged to never exceed Normal rarity. So you were running 200% Delirious maps that spawned white monsters. Congratulations on the investment.
That bug is fixed. Rare monsters now correctly spawn from mirrors, the 200% Delirious cap on monster spawns is removed, and Simulacrum changes Path of Exile 2 now let you choose mid-run between three escalation options: extra modifiers, an extra boss, or more monster packs. All three are selfish and painful in the best way.
The Delirium boss rush cheese: teleporting to end-of-map, grabbing the mirror, teleporting back, and collecting all spawns at once: is dead. It was efficient and elegant, which is presumably why it was removed. You now run mirrors as you go, sequentially, like a person with no exploits.
Summoning Circle encounters now pause Delirium fog. This alone prevents approximately half the "I was trapped in a boss arena and watched my fog expire" rage-quits per session.

The Kulemak boss fight PoE2 has always been a choice. A bad choice, usually, because the rewards didn't justify the time. That calculus changed.
The Grip of Kulemak ring was also reworked. Weaker Desecrated modifiers were merged or removed; stronger versions were added. Divine an existing ring to pull new values, but truly new mods only appear on fresh drops.
Economy note: Desecrated Currency farming became very popular immediately post-patch. Prices spiked. Check current trade listings: anything written in the first 24 hours post-patch is outdated.
Grand Expeditions were overhauled from the chest layer up. All basic Weapon and Armour chests: which dropped gear you vendored anyway: are gone. Replacements include Currency chests, Unique chests, Waystone chests, mysterious chests with high Rarity bonuses, and trinket chests.
The encounter is more concentrated and more punishing in terms of decision weight. If you've been ignoring Expedition, now is a reasonable time to revisit it.
Runeforging had a known problem: converting gear strips so much base Armor, Energy Shield, and Evasion that the Runic Ward gained doesn't compensate. Runeforging PoE2 defense conversion now preserves significantly more of those base stats during conversion. The trade-off finally resembles a trade-off and not a punishment.
The Transcendent Alloy is back on Wands and Foci: nerfed to 31% cast speed and 11% added cold damage (legacy wands keep their original values). Budget wand crafting is viable again, which matters for anyone not swimming in currency to buy legacy gear.
With the City Biome tablet fix, the Doryani Atlas master strategy hits 50% tablet effect without any additional support. Previously this required pairing him with Hilda or Jato specifically to hit the breakpoint for the "+2 additional random modifiers" tablet to roll at +3. That dependency is removed.
For Abyss and Breach juicing, Doryani is now a standalone option. For Vaal Temple content, Jato remains mandatory: Doryani cannot substitute there. Everything else is open. Test it.
No longer drop Corrupted items. Previously their loot was Corrupted by default, meaning you couldn't modify it. Now it's clean. Their drops reportedly included Exceptional items: with the corruption removed, there may be a Rogue Exile loot farm emerging here, particularly next league when item economy resets.
A truly incredible bug: stack enough defences and Sorcery Ward went negative, then started amplifying incoming hits. The value is now capped at 32,000. GGG noted they'll "review" the mechanic in a future patch, which is code for "we know this isn't finished."
Moonbeam damage, area of effect, and freeze build-up reduced across all versions. Reverse Cleave damage also reduced. The boss is easier now. You're welcome, campaign players.
Re-running an already-attempted map now applies 50% reduced experience on top of the existing reduced item reward penalty. Stack penalties on top of penalties: elegant design.

No. Rush cities. Let Grand Mirrors trigger Delirium. Stop camping them for tablet effect.
Yes. Full-power Kulemak guarantees Desecrated Ancient items worth multiple Divines. Always fight.
For Abyss and Breach, yes. For Vaal Temple, Jato is still mandatory. Don't swap blindly.
Yes for budget builds. Values are nerfed but wand crafting is cheaper than before 0.5.3.
Both. Bug fix makes 200%+ deli spawn real rares. Balance changes trimmed low-end monsters slightly.
