Palworld Pals Tier List 2026: Best Combat and Base Pals

You caught a hundred Lamballs and you're proud of it. Adorable. Also useless. This Palworld tier list 2026 exists because the game refuses to tell you the truth: most Pals are filler, a handful carry your entire base, and the rest are just decoration for your farm you'll never harvest. Read the tables, discard your feelings, move on.

You obviously MUST READ THE FOLLOWING:

Combat Pals: Who Actually Fights

Ranking the best Pals in Palworld for combat is simple once you accept that your favorite starter is dead weight against a level 60 boss. Raw stats and Partner Skills decide who lives on your team and who gets shipped to the breeding farm as genetic material.

Tier

Pal

Why It's There

S

Jetragon

Fastest flyer in the game, homing missiles, zero patience for your excuses.

S

Necromus

Fastest ground mount, hits like a truck, doesn't care about your defense stat.

S

Paladius

AoE stun, Light typing, makes bosses regret existing.

S

Shadowbeak

No gimmicks, no fuss, just consistently strong from mid-game to credits roll.

S

Frostallion

Ice mount that melts Dragon-types, ironically.

A

Jormuntide Ignis

Fire/Dragon coverage, also moonlights as a base worker.

A

Anubis

SS-tier combat, S-tier base worker, an overachiever that makes the rest look lazy.

A

Grizzbolt

Early-game electric option that refuses to become obsolete.

The endgame kingpin among Palworld combat Pals is Xenolord, the Dark-type legendary that requires so much breeding investment you'll question your hobby choices before it's raid-ready. Worth it. Painfully.

Base Pals: The Ones Actually Working While You Sightsee

You don't need cute here, you need a Pal that doesn't wander off mid-task. Palworld base Pals succeed or fail on one metric: does it do the job without getting distracted by a rock.

  • Anubis: Handiwork Lv.4 and Mining Lv.4, plus it can still throw hands if a raid interrupts your lunch.
  • Lyleen: Medicine Production and Planting Lv.4, your farm's unpaid intern.
  • Jormuntide: Watering Lv.4, no task confusion, blessedly boring.
  • Verdash: Gathering, Lumbering, Transporting Lv.3, a jack-of-all-trades that doesn't embarrass itself at any of them.
  • Warsect: Lumbering Lv.3 with enough combat stats to double as base defense.

Do not, under any circumstances, park Jetragon Palworld mains at your crop plots. It has one work suitability and it's the base equivalent of a supermodel doing your taxes.

Mounts: Because Walking Is for Peasants

Notes

Flying

Jetragon

Crosses the map before your coffee cools.

Flying (Budget)

Suzaku

Available from level 35, good enough for people with patience.

Ground

Necromus

Double jump, brutal speed, terrifying to be near.

Ground (Budget)

Fenglope

950 speed from level 20, the reasonable choice.

Breeding: Suffering by Design

A comprehensive Palworld breeding guide could fill a novel, so here's the laconic version: stack attack passives like Legend, Musclehead, and Ferocious, expect thousands of eggs for anything worth using against Xenolord, and accept that your base will smell like regret. Xenolord Palworld breeding projects have reportedly consumed entire weekends. Nobody warned you. Now you're warned.

Passive Skill

Effect

Worth Chasing?

Legend

+20% all stats

Obviously

Musclehead

+20% attack, -20% defense

For glass cannons, yes

Ferocious

+15% attack

Filler slot, still fine

What is the best all-around Pal in Palworld?

Anubis. Strong in combat, elite base worker, the one Pal that never feels wasted.

Is Jetragon worth catching first?

Only for combat and travel. It's a terrible base worker, so don't bother assigning it chores.

How many Pals should I breed for endgame bosses?

Expect thousands of eggs for a "perfect" Xenolord army. Budget your patience accordingly.

Does this tier list account for the 1.0 update?

Rankings reflect the current meta; expect rebalancing after the July 10, 2026 launch.

Should I use multi-skill Pals at my base?

No. Single-skill Pals avoid AI confusion and actually finish their assigned tasks.
