Palworld 1.0 Release Date, Patch Notes and Guide

After two and a half years of watching a monster labeled behind glass, Pocketpair has finally set a Palworld 1.0 release date: July 10, 2026. All platforms, no exceptions, no mercy. Below is everything you need, delivered without the usual padding this genre of article loves to drown you in.

You obviously MUST READ THE FOLLOWING:

The Date Itself

July 10, 2026, Friday, launching from Japan on Pocketpair's home turf. Palworld 1.0 launch time hasn't been officially confirmed, but past updates dropped around 9 AM JST, which is roughly 8 PM ET the evening before. If you're in the US, congratulations, you get to stay up late for a video game update, again.

Treat these as estimates. Pocketpair has a long, proud history of leaving players guessing until the last possible moment.

What Actually Changes: The World Tree

The World Tree has sat behind a red barrier since January 2024, taunting everyone who's ever glanced at the horizon. With 1.0, the barrier finally drops, turning it into the game's main endgame zone. Expect high-level enemies, new resources, and story fragments Pocketpair describes, with typical restraint, as pieces of a "grand narrative." Translation: more lore than Palworld has ever bothered giving you before.

Sky Islands and New Territory

The trailer also introduced Palworld Sky Islands, floating landmasses above Palpagos, each apparently packing its own Pals and resources. A giant flying Pal escorts players toward the World Tree through terrain nobody's set foot on in two and a half years of teasing. New ground to grind on. How thrilling.

New Pals and Combat Gimmicks

Pocketpair claims 1.0 introduces more new Pals than any prior update, several of which double as weapons because subtlety was never the brand. Confirmed teases include a fire-dragon type resembling Astegon, a panda companion, a sword-shaped eel Pal you literally swing at things, and a tree-guardian creature likely destined for Legendary or raid-boss status.

  • Fire Dragon-type (Astegon-adjacent design)
  • Panda companion Pal
  • Sword Eel: equip it, swing it, question your choices
  • World Tree Guardian: probable Legendary/raid boss

Save DatShould You Restart?

The Palworld 1.0 save data situation is simple: nothing gets wiped. Pocketpair still recommends starting fresh to experience 1.0 as intended, because "we didn't break your save, but you should throw it away anyway" is apparently a sentence developers can say with a straight face.

Choice

Pros

Cons

Keep old save

Keep your base, Pals, progress

May miss context for new systems

Fresh start

Full intended experience

Rebuild everything from a Lifmunk again

Either way, back up your files first. Major version updates have a talent for corrupting exactly the save you cared about.

The Patch Notes: 27 Pages of It

Pocketpair confirmed the Palworld 1.0 patch notes run 27 pages. Wildlife Sanctuaries are being overhauled, progression systems are getting reworked, and the scale suggests months of content held back specifically for this release. Nobody writes 27 pages for a minor balance pass.

Platforms

Version 1.0 arrives simultaneously on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, with full crossplay support intact. No platform gets to feel special this time.

The Nintendo Lawsuit, Briefly

Since September 2024, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have pursued a Palworld Nintendo lawsuit over patents covering creature-catching, riding, and summoning mechanics, not character designs. It already forced Pocketpair to remove the Pal-throwing capture animation and rework gliding mechanics. No injunction exists, the game remains on every platform, and reports suggest any eventual payout would be modest. Business as usual, apparently, for a studio that keeps shipping anyway.

What To Do Before Launch

  1. Back up your save data. All platforms, no exceptions.
  2. Decide: fresh start, or drag your cluttered base into 1.0 with you.
  3. Clean out your Global Palbox before it becomes someone else's problem.
  4. Finish any late-game content you've been avoiding, like Alpha Astegon.
  5. Stockpile ammo, Pal Spheres, and crafting materials. The World Tree won't wait.

Should You Start Now or Wait for July 10

New to the game and stalling on Palworld 1.0 new content? Starting now teaches you the basics before the update reshuffles everything. Waiting until July 10 gets you the clean, full-launch experience with zero prior baggage. Neither choice is wrong; both involve getting eaten by something eventually.

Bonus: Trading Cards

An official Palworld trading card game launches alongside 1.0, because apparently a monster-catching survival shooter with a patent lawsuit attached wasn't merchandising enough already.

"Get ready to finally figure out what is going on with that big tree.": Pocketpair, after two and a half years of silence on the subject.
