Marathon Season 2 Vox Nocturna Rewards Pass

Season 2 of Marathon, titled Nightfall, launched June 2, 2026. It brought a new map (Night Marsh), a new runner shell (Sentinel), the Cradle progression system, and: the reason you're here: a Vox Nocturna-themed Rewards Pass spanning 7 pages. The entire aesthetic is black and red with fully enclosed grip motifs on most weapon skins. Whether that appeals to you or not is between you and your credit card.

The pass runs on Marathon Season 2 battle pass logic: earn SILK by leveling your Runner, spend it to unlock nodes in any order per page, unlock the next page by spending enough on the current one. The Rewards Pass does not expire: you can buy and complete it next season if you enjoy suffering at your own pace.

Note: Weapon schemas from Season 1's pass were replaced with Credits. Bungie says this protects "economy value." You may feel power of Marathon map raid carry.

How SILK and Progression Work

Every Runner Level earned in-game gives you 10 SILK. You earn Runner XP by completing runs, finishing contracts, and: new this season: simply spending time in a run. The Marathon Rewards Pass SILK currency is the only way to unlock pass nodes; it cannot be purchased directly. LUX is the real-money currency and is separate.

  • Complete contracts: first 5 per week award bonus Faction rep, unused bonuses roll over.
  • Runner Levels also gate CyberAcme Sponsored Kit milestones at levels 25, 50, and 75.
  • Pages must be unlocked sequentially, but nodes within a page can be bought in any order.

Weapon Skins Worth Knowing

The pass has a coherent visual language: matte black with red trim, fully enclosed grips, and subtle reflective effects on higher-tier items. The Vox Nocturna Volley Rifle was shown in pre-season trailers and delivers. The Marathon Vox Nocturna weapon skins on the Copperhead are notable because Bungie actually changed the model: the grip is fully enclosed, making it resemble a compact vector-style SMG. The Longshot schema is new; the base weapon was a shop item last season.

The KKV is a brand-new gun introduced in Season 2. Its pass skin comes with a notably chunky barrel and an integrated suppressor. The Circuit Breaker schema is separate from it but equally distinctive. If you are grinding weapon variety, pages 4 through 6 are where the actual value lives.

Runner Skins and the New Sentinel Shell

The pass distributes runner skins across multiple pages rather than gating them all at the end. You get Aries (page 1), Bert (page 3), Thief (page 7), and the Assassin (page 7 premium). The Assassin features an animated coat: one of the first runner skins with active motion in Marathon. The Marathon Season 2 runner shell skins for the new Sentinel shell are separate from the pass and are tied to the Cradle progression system and platform rewards.

Platform bundles: Steam players get the Assassin Spectral Mist bundle (white/blue) on login. PS5 players with PS Plus get Null Tempest (black/blue). Xbox gets the Emerald Impact bundle. These are free and have no confirmed expiration date.

Schemas, Salvageables, and the Cradle

Schemas unlock weapon barters in your Armory: Bungie pulled them from being freely distributed to make them intentional finds. The pass still includes several: Zeus, Volley, Longshot, Copperhead, Waster, Impact HAR, and Misa schemas across its pages. Marathon weapon schema unlock guide strategies now center on the Armory barter system, meaning schemas have real gameplay value rather than just cosmetic weight.

Salvageables earned through the pass contribute to faction unlock progress, which is useful given that faction levels reset at the start of every season along with everything else. The Cradle system: new in Season 2: lets you allocate stat points across six categories for your runner shell. It resets each season and is fed by converting weapons and gear into Cradle XP via the Matter Converter.

  • Cradle progression is shared across all runner shells.
  • Energy can be reallocated freely with no Marathon item boost.
  • The Close and Personal Core perk was removed: its benefit migrated into Cradle upgrades.

Twitch Drops and Free Rewards

The Marathon Twitch drops Season 2 campaign runs June 2–9, 2026 (10 AM PT both ends). Watch 3 total hours of any eligible Marathon stream to unlock all drops. A new Bully skin is available to players who gift a sub to a participating creator. Link your Bungie account to Twitch first: the process takes about two minutes and failing to do it before watching means every hour you spent counts for nothing.

  • Eligible streams show up in the Marathon category on Twitch.
  • Watch time stacks across multiple streams.
  • Claim drops in your Twitch Drops Inventory before they expire.

Free Week and Season 2 Entry

Bungie launched Season 2 with a Marathon Season 2 free week: new players are more likely to match with other new players during this window. Ranked High Stakes and Low Stakes have been merged into a single mode. If you are considering whether to start now or wait, the free week is the correct window. After it ends, the SBMM returns to its normal, less forgiving state.

Bully Balance Changes

The Bully received adjustments in the Season 2 patch. The Marathon Bully nerf Season 2 is part of a wider sandbox balance pass that also touched Overrun (buffed), adjusted Knockback desync, and fixed several Thief drone exploits. Whether the Bully changes constitute a "nerf" or a "correction" depends on your attachment to the previous state. The patch also added key template objective requirements: you must now fulfill conditions to convert a template into a functional key.

Night Marsh: Not Just a Reskin

Dire Marsh at night means limited visibility, flashlights revealing positions, and new enemy types specific to darkness. The Marathon Night Marsh map guide meta is still forming, but the core shift is defensive play becoming riskier: light sources are a double-edged tool. The Sentinel runner shell was designed for this environment. Its stat emphasis and Cradle perk unlocks skew toward durability over raw mobility.
