Fortnite Item Tier List Chapter 7
Chapter 7 Season 2 is here. New rivalries, mythics, dashes, and a door mechanic that will embarrass you. Read the guide before you queue. You are not
The rivalry system is the backbone of this season. Grind rivalries, level up the rivalry computer, unlock special exotics, upgrade weapons, and buy perks. There is a perk for unlimited sprint. There is one that marks enemies when you damage their white health. Stop hiding in bushes pretending that counts as a strategy and go start a fight for once in your miserable gaming life.
Bonus: rivalries mark your target for you, so you can actually find the last player instead of wandering the final circle for four minutes staring at trees.
If your endgame lobby is packed with fifteen players, everyone including you played too passive. Getting eliminations removes human beings from your problem. Fewer players alive means fewer players trying to shoot you. This is mathematics. Apply it.
Near the new beach POI there is a lighthouse. Around it you will find a bluish-green fishing spot. Fish there with a fishing pole, collect the keycard, take it to the top of the lighthouse, and open the vault. The loot is not exactly mythic-tier, but it is early-game and it is free, which are two qualities someone of your caliber should not be turning down.
There is a cone-push minigame in the ice biome. You throw cones at a target. It apparently takes six attempts every single time. Whether this is intentional design or developer indifference remains unclear. Either way you get decent loot and it costs you nothing but dignity, which you already spent on loading into this game.
The shooting gallery at Wonky Land from last season has returned. You can still complete it for loot. If you somehow missed this entire mechanic last season, welcome back from wherever you have been.
The Chaos Shotgun fires once and reloads automatically when not in your inventory. The play is: shoot it, swap to a spray weapon, finish the kill with that, then come back to the shotgun which has already reloaded itself like a responsible adult. Go for body shots. Chasing headshots gets you fewer pellets and less damage. The gun does the work — you just have to stop making it worse.
There is reportedly a bug where it does not always reload on its own. Classic Fortnite. Have a backup plan, as though you are capable of having one.
The small coral sand castles near the lighthouse contain water that heals your shield over time, similar to slurp water from Chapter 2. If you are low on shield and too greedy to pop a shield can, drag yourself to one of these and stand in it like a desperate tourist at a fountain. It works.
Zero point shards are scattered across the map in the ice biome, beach, center, and desert. Jump into one and you rift, becoming airborne and able to glide. Use these to rotate fast, hunt rivalry targets, or dramatically cross the map to die in a different location than usual. Options are options.
The purple water near the zero point shard in the desert grants dashes. Walk in, then press jump while airborne and choose a direction. Forward, sideways, backward — all viable. These dashes won the game for people in Chapter 5. If you ignored the dash fish during the Simpsons season, you have already demonstrated a troubling pattern of not reading guides like this one.

The orange cube towers at the Dark Domain POI apply the slap effect when you walk through them, giving you unlimited stamina for a period of time. You are already at the center of the map. Just walk through one. Stop jogging like you are conserving energy in a video game that does not require conservation of energy.
Sprinting through an already-open door slams it shut. In your face. This is not a bug. A developer confirmed this. If you sprint toward an open doorway and clip the door, you will seal yourself out like a human who does not understand how doors work. Be precise with your movement near open doors or accept the consequences of your own recklessness. Professionals may eventually weaponize this. You are not yet a professional.
Self-res takes roughly 2 seconds in solos this season. In team modes it is approximately 5 seconds. Last season it was pointless and correctly ignored by anyone with good judgment. This season it is fast enough to actually use. The mobility in this game is aggressive enough that getting knocked and self-reviving before the enemy reaches you is a legitimate outcome. Carry it.
Bosses no longer guarantee mythics. Kill the Dark Voyager and you might get the mythic Chaos Shotgun, or you might get a gold one instead. The Squid boss gives a Combat AR that boosts fire rate as you shoot. The Nemesis AR is at the car jump in the desert. The Brutus twin hammers are at the weightlift at Ripped Tides. The mythic Thunderbird SMG requires racing another player at Sandy Strip. Go fight for these like an adult who wants to win.

The new DMR is hitscan up to 100 meters. Past that, there is potential bullet travel time though no visible drop. The exotic Mammoth Pistol behaves similarly. Within 100 meters, shoot like it is hitscan because it is. Past 100 meters, lead your shots against moving targets. This is the same mechanic as the Dead Eye AR from a previous season. If you played that season and still do not know what hitscan means, please reconsider your hobby.
The new pistol is functioning as a tier-one spray weapon this season. People watching streams questioned why it was being used. Those same people returned later and admitted it was exceptional. Stop dismissing it because it is a pistol. Higher rarities of this weapon are among the strongest options in the game right now. Pick it up. Stop leaving free kills on the ground.
