Solo Flawless Legendary Oblation Guide

The Destiny 2 Oblation exotic mission is three chained missions hidden inside the Monument of Triumph update with zero announcement, zero map marker, and zero mercy. Clear all three solo flawless on Legendary in under 30 minutes and you walk away with:

  • Oblation II Emblem
  • That's A New PB Triumph
  • Darkest [Redacted] Title Step
  • Cull's Shadow Exotic

The emblem and triumph are time-gated. Under 30 minutes or they don't exist. Plan accordingly, or don't: your funeral.

Unlock Prerequisites

The mission does not exist on your map until you do the following. This is by design. Bungie enjoys watching people stumble.

  1. Equip a Weapon of Sorrow: Thorn, Osteo Striga, Necrochasm, or Touch of Malice. Non-negotiable.
  2. Launch The Scarlet Keep strike from the Moon. Play it normally until you reach Hashladun's boss arena.
  3. After Hashladun dies, equip your Weapon of Sorrow. Three Hive rune symbols appear around the arena. Shoot them all.
  4. A gate opens behind Hashladun's spawn door. Enter, turn right, interact with the Hive crystal.
  5. A hidden room in Sorrow's Harbor activates: go right past the Scarlet Keep entrance, under the bridge, drop into the tunnel. Interact with the door. Mission unlocked.

Do not leave early After every boss kill in all three missions: do NOT touch the "End Mission" prompt. Every catalyst and the next mission chain unlocks by staying. Leave once and you restart the unlock chain. You were warned.

The Three-Mission Chain

Each mission in the Oblation Bloodline walkthrough feeds into the next. They are not separate activities: they are one continuous punishment divided into three acts.

Mission

Key Mechanic

Boss

Reward

Oblation: Bloodline

Cooling pillars, Thrall buff banking, three braziers

Totality Enforcer (Cabal / Tau'rig)

Cull's Shadow, Catalyst 1: Soulfire Succor

Oblation: Soulfed

Soulfire worm throwing (~19s timer), green crystal activation

Hive boss, worm phase loops

Catalyst 2 & 3

Oblation: Immolation

All prior mechanics combined, platforming gauntlet

Ir Gohl: shield phases, 30s DPS windows

Catalyst 4: Soulfire Skewer, Exotic Sparrow

Legendary difficulty adds punishing modifiers on top of normal. If you're used to dying in normal, congratulations: you'll die faster here.

Oblation: Bloodline: Step by Step

The opening mission looks like the Pit of Heresy starting area. It is not. Panic, then recover.

Opening Section

  1. Spawn near the thresher. Talk to Eris (listed as Aerys in mission). Objective: sabotage the syndicate drilling operation.
  2. Drop down the cliffside to the red building. Find the pipe and lever console. Flip it: "Engage manual safety override."
  3. Shoot all vents on the cooling pillars to destroy them: all sides, not just the front. Then destroy blue fuses in the area.
  4. Navigate Cabal structures to find the next lever. Pull it.
  5. Enter the cave. Climb Hive tunnels upward using lanterns and Scarlet structures until you reach the soulfire crux area.
  6. Cross the bridge. You're now in the final encounter.

Final Encounter: Three-Phase Loop

This is the mechanic that ends solo runs. Learn it cold before attempting Legendary flawless.

  1. Kill adds in the arena. Find and finish a Thrall to earn a buff.
  2. Deposit the buff into a brazier. Order: right side first, then left, then center (top).
  3. Lighting all three braziers opens the boss room. Enter immediately.
  4. On boss Tau'rig: his overshield drops after initial damage. Hit half health, repeat the Thrall-banking sequence once more. Finish him.

Do not leave After Tau'rig dies: backtrack into the encounter arena, clear all remaining enemies, climb to the high platform, interact with the floating Hive book. Then go to the back-right rune door, equip Weapon of Sorrow, shoot runes in the correct order (check your Cull's Shadow hipfire model: six Hive runes top to bottom; that's your sequence). Door opens. Catalyst 1 drops. Mission 2 unlocks.

Oblation: Soulfed: The Worm Section You'll Hate

The Oblation Soulfed secret mission introduces Soulfire worms. You carry them. They explode if you hold them too long. Charming.

  1. Find a Soulfire Vessel Knight. Melee it to get the Soulfire charge buff.
  2. Deposit the buff into a nearby bowl. Worms spawn from the brazier.
  3. Pick up a worm. You have approximately 19 seconds before it detonates in your hands.
  4. Throw it at a green crystal to activate it. Two crystals, two worms, time it right.
  5. Navigate the rest: rotating cylinders, soulfire jets, drops through spiked hazards. Go down. Keep going down.
  6. At the bottom, exit the door, then look immediately right of that doorway: small passage higher in the wall.

The entire mission is about vertical drops and worm timing. Miss a crystal throw, restart the loop. You will miss it at least once. Accept it.

Oblation: Immolation: The Finale

Shortest mission in the chain, scale-wise. The boss fight erases all goodwill earned by that brevity. Ir Gohl uses a shield mechanic on a 30-second cycle.

  1. Opening platforming: do not jump straight across the first room. Go left.
  2. Work through fewer puzzle rooms than Soulfed: same worm and crystal mechanics apply.
  3. Final boss Ir Gohl: deplete his shield using the worm-crystal mechanic. When shield drops, you have ~30 seconds of DPS. Dump everything.
  4. Shield returns. Repeat the worm sequence. Repeat DPS. Repeat until dead.
  5. Boss dies. Do not leave. Wait for the final loot chest. Catalyst 4 drops to inventory automatically: Cull's Shadow does not need to be equipped.

Under 30 Minutes Warning The timer for the emblem and "That's A New PB" triumph runs across the full chain. Every wipe costs you. On Legendary, a death ends your flawless run entirely: you must restart from Mission 1. Time management is not optional.

Cull's Shadow: What You Died For

The Cull's Shadow exotic kinetic fusion rifle is the reward. It is, improbably, good. It functions as a hybrid between a fusion rifle and a glaive: special ammo slot, melee-first playstyle, and an aggressive loop that rewards staying in enemies' faces.

Perk

Effect

Blades of Unmaking (Exotic)

Swift two-way melee combo using frontal blades. The core of the weapon.

Soulburn

Final blows or rapid melee hits heal you and grant Soulfire Charges. Charges make fired rounds inflict corruption.

Soul Forge

Corrupted enemies killed coalesce into Soulfire crystals. Destroy crystals with blades for AoE damage.

The Cull's Shadow weapon perks form a closed loop: melee, corrupt, explode, repeat. In endgame content the loop requires setup. In normal content it makes you feel unreasonably powerful. Four catalysts expand the loop further: each from a separate Oblation mission. None are optional if you intend to use the gun seriously.

Loadout and Survival Tips

For the Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph solo legendary guide, survivability beats DPS. One death means the flawless run is gone.

  • Weapon of Sorrow in your kinetic slot for unlock prerequisites: Thorn or Osteo Striga are the most accessible. After unlocking, swap freely.
  • Pair Cull's Shadow in the special slot. Swap to your highest-DPS heavy for boss DPS windows.
  • Prioritize mods that trigger health regeneration passively: you do not have a teammate rezzing you.
  • Bring movement exotics. Every second in the platforming sections is a second off the timer.
  • Boss encounters have predictable phases. Learn the loop in normal first. Attempting flawless Legendary blind is a creative form of self-harm.
  • The worm timer (19 seconds, Soulfed) does not care about your ping, your latency, or your feelings.

On the Oblation II emblem requirements: Legendary difficulty must be active, flawless means zero deaths across all three missions, and the full chain must complete in under 30 minutes. All three conditions simultaneously. No partial credit.

All Four Catalysts

Completing the Cull's Shadow all catalysts guide requires playing through all three missions and not leaving after any boss kill. Here is where each drops.

Catalyst

How to Get

Effect

Soulfire Succor

Bloodline: interact with the Hive book post-boss, then shoot the rune door sequence

Destroying soulfire crystals reloads the magazine from reserves and provides Soulfire Charges

Catalyst 2

Soulfed mission completion

Additional survivability in the melee loop

Catalyst 3

Soulfed rune puzzle post-boss

Expanded corruption damage window

Soulfire Skewer

Immolation final chest (auto-drops, weapon not required in slot)

Enhanced AoE on crystal detonation

The Oblation mission catalyst unlock method is identical each time: do not leave after the boss dies, find and interact with a floating Hive book on elevated platforms, then solve the adjacent rune door puzzle. The rune order is shown on the Cull's Shadow weapon model when hipfiring: six symbols, top to bottom.

Solo Flawless Legendary Oblation Guide FAQ

Where does the Oblation mission actually start?

Sorrow's Harbor, Moon. Under the bridge before the Scarlet Keep entrance. Hidden tunnel, hidden door. Of course.

Does the 30-minute timer reset between the three missions?

No. The clock runs across the full chain from first spawn to Ir Gohl's death. Budget every second.

Can I get the emblem without Legendary difficulty?

No. Legendary is required for both the flawless triumph and the Oblation II emblem. Normal difficulty gives you nothing here.

I died once. Is my flawless run gone?

Yes. Restart Mission 1. Death is permanent in flawless. It does not care about your excuses.

Are the worm collectibles in Soulfed worth picking up?

Triumph-only. No loot attached. Skip them on a timed run, collect later at your leisure.
