The Monument of Triumph is Destiny 2's final major live-service update. Not a shutdown: a send-off. The game stays live indefinitely. Active development stops. Everything inside this update is permanent, so there's no ticking clock forcing you to play like a lab rat.
The core loop is dead simple: complete Triumphs across the game's entire history, earn Legendary Marks, spend them at four Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard. Bravery, Devotion, Sacrifice, and Death. Whatever naming consultant came up with that clearly peaked in the first meeting.
Day-One Login
Every Guardian who logs in at launch receives 50 Legendary Marks, 2 Bright Engrams, and the Toast to the Monument emblem automatically. Collect it before doing anything else. It costs you exactly nothing.
Before diving into the new reward pool, do these first. The game rewards the mildly organized.
Legendary Marks are back. You earn them by completing Monument of Triumph Triumphs: which cover the game's entire nine-year history. Raids, dungeons, PvP, destinations, Gambit, events. Completing a broad enough spread also unlocks a new Title and a unique armor ornament set. The Marks have no expiry. Stack them calmly.

Monument of Triumph adds and restores a range of content. Here is what actually matters for preparation.
A permanent boss-rush endgame activity returning with new encounters, multiple difficulty tiers, and weekly Tier 5 drops. Three modes available: Adventure (no Power cap, unlimited revives: for humans), Standard (weekly Tier 5 drops), and Custom (Feats enabled, extra drops, highest reward ceiling). A third full-gauntlet activity unlocks June 13. If you want best-in-slot gear, Pantheon 2.0 is your farm.
SRL returns permanently: not as a seasonal rotation. Classic Destiny 1 tracks plus one new race space. Dedicated weapons, armor sets with bonuses, cosmetics, and horns are all earnable. The Sparrow Racing League return is a Tenet vendor reward category in its own right. An SRL jacket from Bungie Store is also arriving later in June for those who care about real-life cosmetics.
All pre-Monument raids and dungeons have been updated with fully tiered weapons and armor, new perks, set bonuses, and Tier parity. Weekly featured rotations cycle through them. Spoils of Conquest can be used for gear rerolls at vendors at the end of multi-boss activities. Note: Armor 3.0 versions of older raid pieces may not support legacy raid mod slots: test before committing resources.
Distorted Destinations bring refreshed patrol rewards and higher-tier loot to open-world areas. Not endgame, but efficient for casual Triumph completion and Legendary Mark accumulation without organizing a fireteam.
Legacy activity nodes have been reorganized under Crucible Ops and Fireteam Ops hubs. Featured modes rotate. Nightfall nodes are deprecated; all Vanguard content now lives in the Fireteam Ops hub. Trials and Iron Banner continue as-is. None of this requires prep: just know where things moved.
The Triumphant Rewards Pass: included automatically for Renegades, Year of Prophecy, and Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition owners: has no end date. Free and premium rewards continue post-launch. The Eververse Bright Dust inventory now refreshes daily instead of weekly. Below is a shortlist of returning cosmetics worth targeting early.
No. The game stays live indefinitely. Active development ends; the servers do not.
No expiry confirmed. Monument of Triumph and its vendors are permanent, not time-gated.
Make one purchase at the Tenet of Bravery. The other three unlock from there.
Pantheon Adventure difficulty removes the Power cap entirely. Use it to learn mechanics first.
Permanent addition. Classic D1 tracks, new race space, dedicated weapons and armor.
