Monument of Triumph is Destiny 2's final major live-service update, dropped June 9, 2026 as part of Update 9.7.0. Active development stops here. The game stays live indefinitely. Think of it as Bungie handing you a box of everything they forgot to give you and saying "we're done now, take it."
The Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph centers around a new monument in the Tower courtyard, four Tenet vendors, and a new currency called Legendary Marks. You earn Marks by completing Triumphs spanning the game's entire nine-year history — raids, dungeons, PvP, Gambit, destinations, events. You spend them on things that were previously locked, vaulted, or sold out. The patch notes alone ran 71 pages.
Log in at launch. You receive 50 free Legendary Marks, 2 Bright Engrams, and the Toast to the Monument emblem from the Special Deliveries kiosk near Banshee-44. Costs nothing. Takes ten seconds. Skip it and feel nothing.
Three new exotics were added with this update. All are Void-adjacent, all have self-imposed drawbacks traded against unreasonable upside, and all were apparently sitting in a vault somewhere while Bungie debated whether to release them. They decided to release them on the way out the door. Classic.
The Turncoat exotic hand cannon comes free via the Triumphant Rewards Pass — the final season pass Bungie will ever ship. Fires from the hip like The Last Word. Harms you if you hold it too long. Anti-Barrier intrinsic, no artifact required.
Verdict: Fun in content where you control burst windows. In a prolonged boss DPS window, you will shoot yourself. Intentionally, per the perk kit.
Purchasable from the Tenet of Bravery with Legendary Marks — check the cost before blowing your starting 50 Marks on cosmetics. The Fafnir exotic linear fusion rifle is a delayed-detonation Void damage platform with built-in weaken. Deceptively technical.
Verdict: The best new exotic weapon in Monument of Triumph for endgame. Weaken is universally valuable. Delayed detonation sounds awful until you understand it isn't. Grab this first.
The third new exotic in the Monument of Triumph update. A Fusion Rifle dealing Poison damage — a damage type that has seen better days but gains new relevance here given the sandbox overhaul. Expect it to overperform in activities with tightly packed minor combatants.
Verdict: Strong in dense ad-clear scenarios. Less compelling in single-target boss DPS. Niche, but the niche is large enough.
The four Tenet vendors sit in the Tower Courtyard. You access all of them by making your first purchase at the Tenet of Bravery. After that, the others unlock. The naming scheme — Bravery, Devotion, Sacrifice, Death — is either deeply considered or someone had a very bad week at Bungie's copy desk.

Endlessly purchasable engrams let you chase specific weapon pools — Lawless, Reclamation, Pinnacle Ops, Crucible, Fireteam Ops, and event pools — indefinitely. There is no reason to stop grinding if you enjoy shooting things. There is also no reason to stop if you hate yourself.
Legendary Marks come from completing Monument of Triumph Triumphs. The Triumph pool covers every major activity in the game's nine-year history. The path of least resistance, ordered by effort-to-yield ratio:
The Immortal title requires 12 specific Triumphs from the Monument of Triumph event category. Completing each one drops Legendary Marks as a bonus. Earning the title unlocks the Immortal Legend Armor Ornament Set — the most visible prestige flex in this update, gated behind actual effort rather than just currency. Twelve Triumphs. Not all of them. Enough to feel it.
A second new title, Godslayer, is the Pantheon prestige title. Comes with dedicated emblems and cosmetics. For players who consider Pantheon Callus Resplendent a warm-up lap.
The 71-page patch notes contain the expected volume of patch-note-padding, but several changes have real impact on exotic viability:
|
Change |
Impact |
|
Anti-Champion: frame-intrinsic |
Every exotic now contributes to Champion strategies. No seasonal artifact dependency. Expanded endgame pool by approximately one third. |
|
Exotic primaries +40% vs minors |
Exotic primaries are finally viable for ad-clear without feeling wasteful. |
|
Bows: additional +20% vs minors, +40% vs majors |
Le Monarque and bow-adjacent builds get disproportionate benefit. |
|
Rocket Pulse Rifles nerfed |
Reduced damage, blast radius, and Super generation. Your Outbreak Perfected build is fine. Your Lorentz Driver PvP build is not your problem anymore because it never was. |
|
Every exotic now has a catalyst |
25 new catalysts. Check your collection. Some catalysts fundamentally change weak exotics. |
|
All raids/dungeons tiered with new perk sets |
Pre-Monument raid gear is worth farming again. Weekly featured rotations cycle through all of them. |
The Monument of Triumph also houses weapon engrams for events that are no longer running — or in Solstice's case, were cancelled outright this year. The Tenet of Bravery engrams include:
There is also an unreleased hand cannon and possibly a glaive tied to the Season of the Worthless engram pool, visible in the Monument vendor but unconfirmed in details at launch. The Destiny 2 community's reaction to the name "Season of the Worthless" has been characteristically measured.
It's in the Triumphant Rewards Pass — the final season pass. Free track includes one copy; the catalyst unlocks at rank 90.
No. The update is permanent with no expiry date. The Triumphant Rewards Pass also has no end date.

Fafnir's built-in Weaken makes it the stronger endgame pick. Turncoat is a primary — fun, optional, not essential.
Two: Immortal (12 event Triumphs) and Godslayer (Pantheon prestige track). Both have unique cosmetic rewards tied to completion.
