Destiny 2 Monument of Triumph: Black Armory Holofoils Guide

Bungie's final live-service update for Destiny 2 dropped June 9, 2026 as Update 9.7.0. They handed you a box containing nine years of loot they kept forgetting to give you and said they were done now. Active development stops here. The game stays live. The Monument of Triumph is a literal monument in the Tower courtyard, flanked by four Tenet vendors, and powered by a new currency called Legendary Marks.

The patch notes ran 71 pages. Nobody read all of them, including probably the people who wrote them. This guide covers the parts that will actually affect your session: vendor structure, Black Armory holofoils, the Exotic Signal chain, Distortions, and all three new exotic weapons. The rest you can discover by accidentally pressing the wrong button.

Legendary Marks & Tenet Vendors

Legendary Marks are earned by completing Triumphs across the game's entire nine-year history. Raids, dungeons, PvP, Gambit, destinations, old events: all of it counts. You spend them at the four Tenet vendors in the Tower Courtyard. First purchase at the Tenet of Bravery unlocks the rest.

The Immortal Legend Armor Ornament Set is locked behind completing the Immortal title: 12 specific Triumphs from the Monument of Triumph event category. It looks excellent. Bungie put it behind actual effort intentionally, which is unusual enough to note. The flaming helmet shares the same appearance across all three classes and was originally the new Call to Arms helmet before Bungie redirected it here.

Black Armory Holofoils

Black Armory holofoil weapons are back, and getting them is not the ordeal it once was. These are cosmetically enhanced versions of Black Armory weapons: red glow, holofoil effect, looks expensive. The farm lives inside Arena Ops via the attunement system.

How to Farm Holofoils

• Open the Attunement tab in your inventory
• Under Arena Ops, focus for Black Armory weapons
• Run Astral Alignment with the bonus focus active
• Holofoil variants: Hammerhead, Blast Furnace, Spiteful Fang, and others: drop from the same pool

Drop Rate Reality Check One run with bonus focus has yielded 3x Blast Furnace + 2x Hammerhead + Spiteful Fang holofoil. That is a good run. Do not expect that every time. It was reported, not guaranteed.

The attunement system also lets you stack focuses across categories simultaneously. Attuning to Hammerhead in Arena Ops does not cancel your SRL focus in Crucible Ops. Run both. The weapon attunement system is the quality-of-life change that should have existed for the past four years, dropped as a parting gift on the way out. Typical.

Exotic Signal & Strange Matter

While the Distortion is active on a destination, chests, planetary material pickups, and general activity in the zone drop items called Strange Matter. Collect 50 of them and they convert into a Strange Signal: an exotic item that kicks off the next step.

Strange Matter Chain

1. Enter an active Distortion zone (location rotates every hour)
2. Complete public events, open chests, collect planetary materials: Strange Matter drops from all of it
3. At 50 pieces, Strange Matter auto-converts to a Strange Signal in your inventory
4. Check the map for a highlighted area: a cluster of distorted enemies and a chest
5. Clear the enemies, open the chest: receive a Distortion loophole drop (ascendant alloys, exotic materials, other rewards)

The Exotic Signal drop chain is not a full quest. Don't expect cutscenes or dramatic narration. It's a collection mechanic that rewards you for showing up and doing things in the zone. The loophole chest can also drop ascendant alloys, which remain useful regardless of update. Run it whenever the Distortion is on a destination you don't hate.

Distortions

Distortions are the new world events system. They operate on a one-hour rotation across destinations: EDZ, Moon, Throne World, and others. When a Distortion is active on a destination, existing public events on that destination become Distortion public events, and a dedicated Distortion public event also appears.

There is no complex mechanic to learn. Go to the active destination, complete public events, get drops. The Distortion event spawns regularly during the active window and functions like any other heroic public event: complete the hidden objective and you get better rewards. The Strange Matter chain described above runs concurrently with everything else while you're in the zone.

Check the Timer The Director shows the active Distortion destination and a countdown to the next rotation. Plan accordingly, or don't and just show up wherever it is. Both approaches work.

Three new exotics arrived with Monument of Triumph. All Void-adjacent. All came out of a vault somewhere while Bungie debated whether to release them. They decided yes, on the way out. The new exotic weapons Monument of Triumph introduced are below.

Loopholes have been updated for essentially every currently featured activity. The attunement system shows you what drops from each playlist before you commit. Below is the current category breakdown.

The Pantheon Godslayer title is the prestige Pantheon track for the update, with dedicated emblems and cosmetics. The Drifter has a specific quest thread for Pantheon weapon drops that provides additional rewards alongside the standard Pantheon bonus drops. Pick it up from him before running.

Sparrow Racing League Returns

The Sparrow Racing League is back as a permanent addition: not a limited event, not a seasonal rotation, permanent. SRL weapons and cosmetics are available via the Crucible Ops attunement category and the Tenet of Devotion for cosmetics.
