Destiny 2 EDZ Case Files Guide – All Locations

The European Dead Zone is Destiny 2's oldest open world and, somehow, still the one most Guardians navigate wrong. It spans seven zones, hosts 16 Lost Sectors, and is crawling with Cabal, Fallen, and Taken who would love to interrupt your collectible run. The EDZ Case File Collector Triumph requires finding every hidden case file scattered across this post-apocalyptic chunk of Earth. None of them glow. Most are in corners that were designed specifically to make you feel stupid.

This is part of the broader Monument of Triumph event, live since June 9, 2026: Bungie's farewell celebration for seven years of Destiny 2, rewarding players with armor ornaments, weapon engrams, and Legendary Marks for completing destination triumphs. The EDZ ones exist because someone at Bungie remembered you never finished the original campaign zones.

Case files are not on the map. Ghost will not hint at them. Welcome to collectible hunting.

Zone Reference

The EDZ breaks into seven patrol zones. Case files spread across all of them, with higher density in the more hostile areas. Shocking. Here's your damage report upfront:

Zone

Fast Travel

Primary Enemies

Notes

Trostland

Yes

Fallen

Devrim Kay's church. He's judging you.

Outskirts

Yes

Fallen / Taken

Three Lost Sectors. Files hide in obvious places you'll miss anyway.

Winding Cove

Yes

Fallen

Coastal. Good luck with the cliffs.

Firebase Hades

No

Cabal

No fast travel. You walk. Like an animal.

Sunken Isles

Yes

Cabal

Injection Rig public event spawns here. Avoid it.

The Gulch

Yes

Cabal / Fallen

Both factions shoot at each other. Both will pivot to shoot at you.

The Sludge

Yes

Taken

Dark Forest access. The Taken are aggressive. Act surprised.

Case File Locations

The Destiny 2 collectibles system offers zero assistance: no trackers, no minimap icons, nothing. Every file below was found the hard way. Read carefully or repeat the experience.

Trostland

  • Church interior, second floor near Devrim Kay: climb the left staircase
  • Broken bridge at the zone's southwest edge: ledge directly beneath the span
  • Ruined building west of the church: third-floor balcony, enter through the window

Outskirts

  • Eastern entrance building, first room on the right: far corner
  • Western building from the town square: top floor
  • Southern section: hidden cave running under the main road from the shoreline

Winding Cove

  • Large broken bridge: platform underneath the span, western side
  • Cliff face near the Flooded Chasm Lost Sector entrance: lower ledge
  • Northern coastal path: behind the rock cluster near the water

Firebase Hades

  • Southern building interior: jump one floor, beside the narrow Cabal door
  • Hill north of Excavation Site XII: top of the incline
  • Western road fork: rocks on the left, file on top of the tallest boulder

Sunken Isles

  • Northwest corner, above the Injection Rig public event area
  • Under the Cabal ship landing pad: left side behind containers
  • Ship loading ramp: dark corner to the left of the ramp base

The Gulch

  • Southern section cliff: cave at the base leading toward Flooded Chasm
  • Southern dirt path: follow it to the dead-end overlook
  • Western tunnel entrance to The Tunnels sub-area: just inside

The Sludge

  • Near the Dark Forest entrance: behind the first large rock on the right
  • Shaft 13 Lost Sector vicinity: east-facing wall recess outside the entrance
  • Hallowed Grove approach: ruined structure on the left before the descent

Practical Notes

Running the EDZ triumph guide without a plan means running it twice. These apply universally:

  • Firebase Hades has no fast travel. Spawn at The Gulch or Sunken Isles and ride in. Spend a Sparrow.
  • Case files are interactable objects, not pickups. You must hold the button. Yes, it takes a second. No, it doesn't care that you're in the middle of a public event.
  • The Sludge and Dark Forest are connected. Enter from The Sludge landing zone, sweep right toward Hallowed Grove, then double back toward the forest. One pass covers both.
  • Trostland's church is multi-floor. If you've never been above Devrim Kay's level, you've been playing this game wrong for years. Fix that now.
  • Enemies respawn constantly. Kill what you need to, ignore the rest, and move. You're not here to play the game correctly.

Lost Sector Reference

Several case files sit adjacent to EDZ Lost Sectors. Knowing the sector entrances keeps you oriented. The full list of sectors across the EDZ:

Context You Didn't Ask For

The European Dead Zone patrol zone was Destiny 2's launch destination in 2017: the first place most Guardians ever shot a Fallen. Nine years later, it is functionally unchanged: same church, same Devrim Kay, same Cabal infrastructure problem in Firebase Hades. The Monument of Triumph event recycled it into a collectible playground because nostalgia is cheaper than new content.

Devrim Kay, the EDZ's vendor, is a regular human with a sniper rifle. He does not have the Light, enhanced reflexes, or any supernatural ability. He's just extremely good at sitting in a church tower and selling you gear while Guardians do all the work. His Devrim Kay vendor rewards were updated with the Monument event, so check him before you leave Trostland anyway.

The EDZ's sub-areas: Salt Mines, Maevic Square, The Dark Forest, Hangman's Pass, The Reservoir, Niobe Labs: are largely inaccessible during standard patrol but may open for specific quests. The EDZ secret areas Destiny 2 situation is messier than it looks on the map. Niobe Labs specifically reopened as part of the Monument of Triumph update. Don't go in without knowing what you're doing.

Recommended Route

Completing the Case File Collector Triumph EDZ in one efficient sweep without backtracking more than necessary:

  1. Spawn Trostland: clear all three files: check Devrim
  2. Ride to Outskirts: three files: note nearby Lost Sector markers as landmarks
  3. Fast travel Winding Cove: three files: hug the coast
  4. Fast travel Sunken Isles: three files: avoid Injection Rig if it's active
  5. Ride east into Firebase Hades: three files: no fast travel here
  6. Fast travel The Gulch: three files: sweep The Tunnels entrance
  7. Fast travel The Sludge: three files: push toward Dark Forest, then Hallowed Grove

Destiny 2 EDZ Case Files Guide – All Locations FAQ

How many case files are in the EDZ total?

There are case files across all seven major EDZ zones. Every zone has at least two, most have three. Count on 20+ interactions minimum before the Triumph completes.

Do case files reset weekly or per character?

Once collected, case files are permanently unlocked account-wide. You will never suffer this particular experience again.

Can I track which files I'm missing?

Open the Triumph page and check the Case File Collector entry: it shows a numerical count. It will not tell you which zone is incomplete. Enjoy that.

Is Firebase Hades accessible without riding in from adjacent zones?

No fast travel point exists there. Spawn at Sunken Isles or The Gulch and ride in. It takes under a minute. Stop complaining.

What reward does the Case File Collector Triumph give?

Legendary Marks redeemable through the Monument of Triumph progression, contributing toward ornaments, engrams, and the overall seal. Not nothing.
