C.O.D.E. Navigator Event: Every Reward & How to Earn It

May is Military Appreciation Month, which means Activision has once again deployed the Call of Duty Endowment as both a charitable vehicle and a marketing strategy. The C.O.D.E. Navigator Challenge Event runs from May 8 to May 21, 2026, available across every game mode you already play. Complete a series of objectives: the specifics of which were, mercifully, not pre-leaked: and collect a stack of free cosmetics, including a weapon nobody expected to land this season.

The accompanying paid bundle, the C.O.D.E. Navigator: Tracer Pack, will set you back $20 USD and cannot be purchased with COD Points. The proceeds fund veteran employment programs. The Call of Duty Endowment has placed over 169,000 veterans into civilian jobs since its founding, so at minimum your money is doing something other than funding another operator skin with a hat.

Free vs. Paid, clearly stated: Everything listed in this guide is earned through gameplay challenges at zero cost. The $20 Tracer Pack gives you animated Maddox and M10 blueprints, two David Mason operator skins, and several cosmetics. None of it is required to participate in the event or earn the Katana.

All Navigator Event Rewards

Eight challenges. Eight unlocks plus a mastery reward at the end. The Black Ops 7 Navigator event rewards are usable across every mode, which is how it should work and rarely does. Unlock order is sequential: no skipping.

The Liftoff camo is a static-base animated universal camo: cracked surface with a glow effect in the dark sections. Not reactive. Still better than half the paid camos this season, which is either a compliment to Treyarch or an indictment of the store.

The Katana: What It Is and How to Get It

The Black Ops 7 Katana unlock is the headline draw here: a melee weapon with high damage, medium attack range, and medium attack speed. It is not the dual-wield version from Black Ops 6. This is a single blade with a distinct inspect animation and its own prestige camo track, though those camos are not animated, which is fine.

The weapon can be brought into any map via Create-A-Class at Common rarity. The blade itself carries Japanese inscriptions: the first three characters translate to "Demon flesh eater" and the remaining two reference Muramasa, a historically significant Japanese swordsmith. So it has more lore than most operators.

Unlock Challenge Stages

1. Get 15 melee kills in multiplayer matches.
2. Complete 3 Warzone contracts while carrying a melee weapon as your secondary.
3. Eliminate 5 enemies in close-quarters combat (under 10 metres) across any mode. Melee kills are not required: SMG and shotgun eliminations in tight spaces count.

Stages are sequential. Stage 3's close-range requirement is deliberately lenient. Run an SMG through Shipment or any tight interior and it tracks automatically. Do not spend the afternoon chasing sprinting enemies across open ground with a blade. That is not what it is for, and you know it.

If you miss the event window, the Katana will be added to the Armory system after May 21 with a separate unlock challenge. You will get it eventually. You will just have to explain to your lobby why you don't have it yet.

Alongside the Navigator event, Heat Wave Havoc Black Ops 7 launched as a limited-time mode in the Season 3 Reloaded mid-season update. It runs in a moshpit of Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, and Hardpoint. The concept: stop shooting people for five seconds and actually support your team, and the game rewards you for it.

You progress through five Heat Levels by completing non-lethal cooperative actions: revealing enemies, scrambling enemy radars, buffing teammates, capturing and defending objectives. Kills do not generate Heat directly. This is Treyarch's gentle way of telling the community that objectives exist and have always existed on the minimap.

·        Low Heat: Faster Field Upgrade recharge

·        Medium Heat:Faster movement, sprint-to-fire speed, and mid-air mobility

·        Hot:Faster weapon reloads, ADS speed, and swap speed

·        Extra Hot: Equipment refills after eliminating enemies

·        Extra Extra Hot: Increased damage and score for headshots

Extra Extra Hot headshot bonus doubles as a camo grind accelerant. If you are working on military camo headshot requirements, this is the most efficient window you will get without burning a Double XP token. The mode will run for the remainder of the mid-season alongside Freeze Tag, which launches slightly later and operates on entirely opposite logic.

Week Six Weekly Challenges & New Attachments

Weekly challenges in Black Ops 7 go live every Thursday at 12:00 PM Central: not 11:00 AM, that changed, keep up. The Week 6 batch coincides with the Navigator event launch and includes the Warden akimbo revolver pistol kit, the most structurally honest melee-range sidearm the game has offered in years.

Warden 308 Badlands Pistol Kit

The kit converts the Warden into an akimbo revolver pair. Range is short, as dual revolvers have always been. The single-Warden configuration extends effective range and keeps the fantasy of playing a man in a forgotten western who wandered onto a Black Ops map. It is not the gravemaker revolver from Black Ops 6: that weapon did not carry forward with the season transition: but it fills the same role well enough.

You do not need this. That said, here is what it contains. The COD Endowment Navigator bundle was designed in collaboration with retired U.S. Navy SEAL and NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy, which is a genuinely impressive credential for a cosmetic pack and more bio than most in-game operators have earned. The aquatic and space aesthetic is internally consistent, which puts it above roughly 60% of the store inventory.

U.S. military service members and veterans can claim a free version of the pack through the official Call of Duty Endowment website after verifying eligibility via ID.me. Quantities are limited.

Endgame: Operation Broken Mirror & Thermal Spike

The Thermal Spike Endgame ability is the new Major Ability added in Season 3 Reloaded. It fires a blast of persistent flames that lingers in the area after the initial hit. For players stuck on Step 8 of Operation Broken Mirror: specifically the "Blade and Flame" objective: the requirement was updated to accept any ability, not just Thermal Spike. Tracking issues persist for some players regardless. Use the Thermal Spike when it becomes available and stop arguing with the objective tracker.

Operation Broken Mirror begins at Zone III or higher from Step 1, unlike Operation Poison Pill which started at Zone I. Have your Operator leveled before attempting it. This is not a warning, it is a fact delivered without sympathy.

Where This Sits in Season 3 Reloaded

The Navigator event is one of several simultaneous unlocks this mid-season, which speaks either to generosity or to an aggressive content burn rate before Season 4 begins. The full Season 3 Reloaded event schedule for the mid-season period includes:

• RoboCop Event Pass: free and premium tracks, XP-based. Siren special weapon and RoboCop operator on the premium track.
• Freerun: Ascent Challenge: multiplayer-only, already active, rewards two weapon camos. Deadline is approaching.
• C.O.D.E. Navigator Challenge: May 8–21. This guide.
• Season 03 Ranked Series: multiplayer and Warzone leaderboard events, likely closing out late May.

The only remaining unlock after this event closes is the ranked leaderboard event for players who competed in the division. Everything else for Season 3 Reloaded will have been deployed. Season 4 will reset the camo leaderboard in Warzone, probably, which is a separate problem for a separate day.

For the record: Black Ops 7 has more free animated camo rewards available than Black Ops 6 had in its entire run. The PAP camos, mastery camos, event camos, Easter egg camos, and weapon prestige camos combine into a volume that is either admirable or exhausting depending on how many hours you have available and how much you care about weapon aesthetics.
