Apex Legends Season 29 Split 2 Patch Notes Guide

Respawn patched the reverse speed hack that let cheaters hang in mid-air like confused pigeons. Server-crash exploits are also gone. Apex Legends Season 29 Split 2 anti-cheat improvements are ongoing, but details stay secret so bad actors don't get a roadmap. Smart of them. Surprising, but smart.

Keep reporting cheaters. Your reports feed the system. Whether anyone reads them is a philosophical question.

Legend Changes

Seven legends touched. Three buffed, four nerfed. The Apex Legends 29.1 legend tier list reshuffles the moment this patch goes live. Here is what matters.

Ballistic

  • Sling weapon respawns with him in all modes
  • Overheat applies to ONE weapon only now
  • Overheat damage: 15 → 50
  • Duration: 12 → 15 sec; 2 Tactical charges
  • Ult: team sprint boost (not full speed boost)
  • Lvl 3 perk: Quiet Time: silence + slow instead of overheat

Pathfinder

  • Tucks legs on horizontal ziplines (smaller hitbox)
  • 2 Grapple charges, flat 20 sec cooldown each
  • Zipline ult: faster launch, 3 → 2 min cooldown
  • Lvl 2: choose all Recon OR all Controller perks
  • Lvl 3: Landing Gear: air control + soft landing

Seer

  • Heartbeat sensor: faster activation, shorter interval
  • Tactical: less delay, stronger slow vs. fast legends
  • Ult: 2-sec scan on deploy; cloaked enemies leave footsteps inside zone

Axle

  • Knocked players can no longer slide on Nitro Gates
  • Super Slider: no extra charge; instead +1 gate in world and 5-sec cooldown reduction
  • Kickstart: parabolic launch arc (velocity-dependent), reduced highlight duration

Mad Maggie

  • Tactical cooldown: 22 → 28 sec
  • Ult wrecking ball pucks: sprint boost only, not full movement speed

Valkyrie

  • Fast landing from skydive: removed
  • That's it. That's the whole nerf.

Conduit

  • Tactical cooldown: 27 → 30 sec
  • Enduring Barrier: no longer restores shields through ring damage
  • She was in 8 of the top 10 team comps. Respawn noticed.

Ballistic: The Important Bit

The Ballistic rework is the centrepiece of this patch. Overheat now hits one gun, you can swap to the other and fight freely. The punishment for getting tagged just got much worse (50 damage vs 15), but at least you have counterplay. The Lvl 3 Quiet Time perk turns the whole kit into a silence-based playstyle. Expect experimentation in ranked.

Axle: The Community Got What It Wanted

Sliding knocked players across the zip code was, objectively, a design mistake. It is gone. Axle nerfs Season 29.1 are targeted but real. The Super Slider upgrade no longer doubles your gate count via a free charge: you get more world gates instead, which is a fair trade that removes the frequency problem.

The Hemlok gets its magazine slapped. Shotguns get a new reason to exist. Nothing dramatic, which is either mature restraint or creative bankruptcy.

The Hemlok magazine nerf Season 29.1 is the only real weapon balance change. Everything else is hop-up rotation: Respawn shuffling the deck so the loot pool feels fresh. Peacekeeper and Mastiff players rejoice: the Executioner hop-up restores 50 shield on knockdown if you stack two knocks. In a ten-second window. Do the math.

Hop-Up Changes

Executioner: NEW (Peacekeeper & Mastiff)

After knocking an enemy, restores 50 shields over 10 seconds. Stack knockdowns and the restoration stacks. Shotgun players are going to abuse this in close-range ranked fights.

Graffiti Mod: Rotation

Moves from Longbow / Wingman / Mozambique to Flatline and Volt. If you were running Graffiti on a Wingman, that chapter is closed.

Turbocharger: Now on Nemesis

Unlockable at 600 upgrade points. The Nemesis already rewards burst discipline; a Turbocharger removes the spinup tax. It will be strong. Budget your points accordingly.

Map Rotation

The Apex Legends Season 29.1 map rotation is straightforward for pubs and ranked. Wildcard gets a weekly rotation, which is someone at Respawn's idea of variety.

The Wildcard weekly rotation replaces the 15-minute rotation. Whether you prefer this is between you and your therapy schedule.

Ranked Changes

After legend select, you now see your squad only: no Champion Squad display. Respawn's logic: seeing masters and predators in the lobby scared players into quitting early. Without that info, motivation stays high. Plausible. Also conveniently removes data that makes you reconsider queuing at all.

Quality of Life & Bug Fixes

Maps

  • Storm Point: out-of-bounds timer fixed in 10+ locations; collision and lighting adjusted
  • World's Edge: Alter out-of-bounds exploits closed
  • Kings Canyon: OOB timer fixed in popular POIs
  • Broken Moon / Electro District: OOB fixes, Alter exploits removed, lighting improved

Engine & Performance

  • Players can no longer hide in tree foliage (Revenant passive abusers, this means you)
  • Horizon lift, Octane trampoline: no longer cause game freezes from bad trajectory prediction
  • Banner swaps on maps no longer drop FPS
  • Shadow intensity reduced across all maps; default brightness recommendation: 50%

Audio

  • Enemies can hear you respawning from a deathbox at longer range. Sneaky respawns got less sneaky.
  • Fuse Prestige skin jetpack sound: finally quiet

Notable Bug Fixes

  • Bots now pick up weapons a few seconds after landing (not immediately: realistic incompetence)
  • Lightsaber invisible while in cloak: fixed
  • Gold bolt no longer incorrectly boosts shotgun fire rate on double-tap trigger
  • Kiri magazine now actually reloads on Kiri: groundbreaking
  • Deathbox respawn: no more getting stuck under low objects
  • Ballistic's Smart Bullet now hits enemies mid-heal
  • Maggie's Shatter Dive no longer bounces off invisible enemies without dealing knockback
  • Nintendo Switch + PlayStation crash on startup: fixed

Why did Conduit get nerfed?

What does the Executioner hop-up do exactly?

Will Axle still be good after the nerfs?

Yes, just less infuriating. She loses the free extra Tactical charge. Her core movement identity remains completely intact.

Why can't I see the Champion Squad in ranked anymore?

Respawn removed it to stop players from panicking and quitting. You are now blissfully ignorant of who you are about to face.
