WoW Midnight Tier Sets Guide
Stop wandering Eversong Woods aimlessly! Our complete WoW Midnight Mining Guide 1-100 is live. Master new ores, specs, and gear setups today.
WoW Midnight Mining guide — also known as the guide explaining why you’re going to spend the next three days circling Eversong Woods listening to the same node sound effect until it haunts your dreams. Mining in World of Warcraft: Midnight (patch 12.0.1) is structurally familiar if you survived The War Within, but Blizzard, in their eternal generosity, have tweaked just enough things to make you re-read a guide. That’s why you’re here. Great.
The Midnight expansion returns to the Blood Elf homeland of Quel’Thalas, and in a surprising act of geographic mercy, all ore types can now be found in all Midnight zones. No more “oops wrong zone, gotta fly to the other side of the continent.” Small victories with a WoW mounts help.

Before you can mine in Midnight you need to learn the profession from a trainer. The campaign drags you to Silvermoon City early, so you’ll find Belil automatically during the intro quests. Unless you somehow miss the giant glowing capital city. In which case, this guide can’t help you.

Midnight has mercifully simplified ore quality from the three-tier war crime that was The War Within. You’re welcome. Or rather, Blizzard’s welcome, since you certainly didn’t ask for Bronze quality in the first place.
Everything gives skill. Mine literally anything. You could accidentally reach 30 by walking near rocks too aggressively.
Base deposits go yellow at 30, grey at 60. Prioritize Rich nodes, Seams, and Infused variants.
ALL base deposits are grey. Only Rich deposits, Seams, and Infused variants give skill. Hunt those exclusively to WoW coaching help.

Don’t skip grey nodes entirely — you still want the ore and motes. But when you see a Rich deposit, Seam, or Infused node in the 30–100 range, always prioritize it over normal deposits nearby. Those nodes are your skill-up friends in a world that has otherwise abandoned you.

Type |
Normal Mine |
Overload Effect |
|
Lightfused |
Light orbs spawn around node. Stand in them for extra Motes of Light. |
Floods area with more orbs. You’ll miss some. Accept it and move on. |
|
Wild |
2 hostile Rumbling Orelings spawn. Kill + mine them for extra materials. |
Elite bear spawns. Kill for Wild Perception (+150 Perception, 5 min). No extra motes from overload. |
|
Primal |
Slow + minor DoT debuff. Druid shapeshift removes it instantly. |
Green orbs spawn — run through them for extra Motes. Channels 50% of your HP. Do not interrupt. Will kill you if you’re low. |
|
Voidbound |
Void portal pulls you. Does no damage. Just cosmetically unpleasant. |
Purple orbs + portal. Orbs give motes/ore. Portal teleports you somewhere random — possibly a deep cave, possibly another zone. |
After mining your first infused deposit, you auto-learn Overload Infused Deposit. It appears in your General spellbook tab (not the profession tab — Blizzard hides it there). Base cooldown: 12 hours, reduced by 30 minutes per node mined (~24 nodes to full reset).
Do NOT overload Voidbound deposits until you have the Voidbound sub-specialization which gives you a portal home. Without it, you may be teleported to a random cave or another zone entirely with no easy escape. Your guildmates will not sympathize.
The first time you Overload each infused type, you earn +1 Knowledge Point. That’s 4 KP total. Do each type once before using Overload repeatedly on your favorite zone.
Midnight adds an Epic tier of mining gear. The practical difference between Blue and Epic: same primary skill bonus, more secondary stats. Whether that matters depends on how seriously you take being a professional rock enthusiast.
You have three equipment slots: Hardhat + Satchel (Engineering) and Pickaxe (Blacksmithing). Green gear is AH-buyable; Blue and Epic are Bind on Pickup via work orders.

Teas are new in Midnight — Cooking-crafted buffs targeting gathering stats. The Azeroot Tea + Darkmoon Firewater combo for Deftness is practically mandatory in zones with dense mob coverage. Mining nodes channel. Mobs interrupt channels. Math is hard but the solution is clear.

Mob-heavy zones (Harandar, Voidstorm): Azeroot Tea + Darkmoon Firewater for Deftness. Once you can mine without getting slapped every 5 seconds, switch to Argentleaf Tea + Refulgent Razorstone for max Finesse and raw yield. Phials are great if you’re doing a focused farming session.
All four Midnight zones have mining nodes. All ore types spawn in all zones. Pick your zone based on your gear, tolerance for mobs, and how attached you are to not being teleported to a random cave.

Zone |
Mob Density |

Recommendation |
|
Eversong Woods |
Low |
Lightfused orbs) |
Best for leveling 1–60 and relaxed farming. Start here. Simple loop. Low stress. |
|
Zul’Aman |
Medium |
Wild (orelings + elite) |
Excellent with Wild spec active. Not recommended undergeared — Orelings hit hard. |
|
Harandar |
High |
Primal (HP drain) |
High Deftness mandatory. Vertical zone. Honestly the most annoying gathering zone in recent memory. God speed. |
|
Voidstorm |
Highest |
Voidbound (portal chaos) |
Best raw node density. Hug map edges for low mob coverage. Get Voidbound spec before Overloading anything. |

A large loop around the zone with short middle detours on each pass. Catches the main deposit clusters. Low mob interference. Lightfused nodes spawn frequently and are the safest infused type to engage with. Ideal for your first runs and for farming mellow Gold-quality ore without a headache.

Zul’Aman: Best raw ore/hour with Wild spec. Rumbling Orelings are extra loot if you can handle the combat. Don’t use your Overload here — the elite’s Perception buff is nice but doesn’t increase mote drops. Save Overload for Voidbound or Lightfused.
Harandar: Use Azeroot Tea + Darkmoon Firewater. The Primal DoT debuff is annoying (Druids shapeshift it off). For mining only, ground routes are fine. For double gathering with herbs — Harandar herbs are on top of giant mushrooms. Blizzard designed this zone personally for your suffering.
Voidstorm: Highest node concentration. Fly the map edges for lowest mob density. Do not overload Voidbound without the sub-spec. The portal sends you somewhere random with no return. Adventure! Unwanted, involuntary adventure.

|
Profession |
Why It Works |
|
Blacksmithing |
Consumes Refulgent Copper Ingots, Sterling Alloy, Dazzling Thorium for weapons and armor |
|
Engineering |
Uses copper/tin heavily; crafts your own mining gear (Hardhat, Satchel) |
|
Jewelcrafting |
All Midnight ores feed into gems and jewelry. Dazzling Thorium especially valuable |
|
Herbalism |
Double gathering = double gold per loop. Massive on Druids. |
|
Skinning |
Passive income from killing Wild Orelings and bears anyway |
Mining feeds three crafting professions simultaneously. It’s one of the most reliable passive income streams in any expansion. The strategy is simple: farm ore, sell ore at the right time.
Sell on reset days (Tuesday/Wednesday): Crafters spike demand for materials to make raid consumables and gear. Hold bulk ore for these windows.
Watch Dazzling Thorium prices: If it’s expensive, switch to Perception loadout and farm hard. If it normalizes, stack Finesse for raw volume instead.
Motes early in expansion: Mote of Pure Void and Mote of Light are highest value early-patch. Farm Voidstorm and Eversong respectively if motes are popping on the AH.

You can learn Mining from Belil in The Bazaar, Silvermoon City. Check coordinates 42.68, 52.88 in Eversong Woods to start your rock-smashing journey.
Blizzard completely removed Bronze quality in the Midnight expansion. Nodes now only drop Silver and Gold quality ores, saving your inventory space and your sanity.
The base cooldown is 12 hours, but it reduces by 30 minutes for every node you mine. It takes about 24 nodes for a full reset.
Eversong Woods is your safest bet. It features low mob density, simple loops, and Lightfused nodes that won't violently punish you for gathering them.
Without the Voidbound sub-specialization, the node's portal will teleport you to random, potentially dangerous locations with no easy way back. Unlock the sub-spec first!
