For the purposes of this guide: because some of us have a finite lifespan and are not farming fish underwater for fun: we are focusing exclusively on the seven new mounts and the three content systems that actually produce them: Void Assaults, Ritual Sites, and Decor Duels. Abyss Anglers has no mount. Voidforge has no mount. They exist to take your time and give you gear, which is between you and your item level.
The overall patch takes place across the zones of Eversong Woods and Zul'Aman, both of which were presumably not suffering enough already. The Void has decided these locations are optimal for assaults, ritual disruption, and also a game of hide-and-seek in Silvermoon City, because apparently the end of the world is an acceptable backdrop for competitive interior decoration.
All vendor mounts in 12.0.5 cost Voidlight Marl, a new patch currency earned from Void Assaults and Ritual Sites activities. Field Accolades is a separate currency also earned from both systems and feeds the Great Vault world content row alongside Delves and Prey Hunts.

Technically the cheapest mount in the patch: 500 coins versus thousands of Voidlight Marl. In practice this requires you to repeatedly disguise yourself as a chair while someone hunts you. Whether this is preferable to grinding Ritual Sites is a deeply personal question.

Yes: Daggerspine Point on Tier 1 is solo-friendly, and the Snapdragon spawns at any tier. The RNG is your only enemy, which is saying something.
No: any Leatherworker on your realm can craft it for you, assuming you supply the Broken Lynx Leash and cover their deeply unreasonable fee.
Yes: participation contributes coins regardless of outcome. Winning earns more, but being furniture has its own modest rewards.
Both the Hex Eagle and the Warbear Mother only become available at Tier 2 or above. Gear up, bring a friend, and revisit.
Several weeks of consistent Void Assaults and Ritual Sites play, assuming normal weekly lockout cadence. Faster with boosted content completion. Much slower if you keep forgetting to spend your cores.
